weirdest thing one of my cats ever did was wake me up by sitting on my chest and gently locking his jaws on my chin, it may have been an attempt to stop me snoring
Lol
Wat
My brother said his cat stuck his paw in his mouth while he was sleeping. I'm assuming for the same reason.
Or you may have stopped breathing. I was holding my breath in a dream and my cat woke me up tickling my face with her whiskers. She was probably investigating why my face was quiet for so long. She probably saves my life a lot.
LOL HAHHAHAHA
When I was 10 years old I had a cat that lived on a farm that came home with me she was extremely protective of me plus every time I had a bath she would jump in the bathtub with me man I miss her 😞
Sorry for your Loss, man. How long has it been?
Awww, good friends are hard to come by, sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss
@@traekas7228 it’s been 14 years now and I got a cop fired for shooting her
@@tylerwhale1192 wtf why would a cop shoot a cat? But sorry my guy hopefully you can find another good cat :)
My cat always recognizes when I finish a yogurt or something similar in a plastic cup and instantly demands it being given to her. Then she proceeds to stick her paw in it when she can't reach the remnants of the content and then licks it off. I've never seen a cat doing this and it always makes me smile.
I had a cat when I was a kid that liked to swim & she taught her babies to swim, too.
I'm a newly converted cat dad 😅 I love them. My boi Milo follows me around my work (I'm a window cleaner), then hops in the car when its time to go home. When he can't get to me he makes a loud low pitched noise that sounds like "NOOOOOO", until he eventually gets to me.
I also have a Milo. He's my best friend and a furry little psycho. He was feral when I caught him but he's turned into a total mama's boy. We have 4 cats and they wore out their kitty condo so my husband built a giant 4 level one for them. Milo likes to climb to the vet to and holler "mama" until I stop working and go look. He gets excited and means down for his and kisses.. If I leave to soon, he gets mad and slaps my glasses of my head. He typically sourness his days in his fort.. The extra chair in my office with an afghan draped over to block the light. My husband didn't like the idea of pets in the house, but in the 18 years we've been together he's learned to accept many furry kids and has even started having conversations with them. Currently, he's owned by our 8.5 year old lab mix, but the cats have him pretty well trained.
My cat Pyro sounds like he howls and meows MOM!!
@@WatermelonPocky Right? My Catniss always sounds like she's saying "MOOOOM!!!" when calling for me lol.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 one of my cats sounds like a bird.
Awwww such a cute relation between you and ur cute little cat
-My cat, Maggie, lived in my house with my brother. When he would come home from work she would mount the chair next to the door and she would produce a bunch of meows that almost sounded like her talking, telling him about her day. Cats cannot talk, but like pigs and dogs they can mimic what they hear.
Cat' s can talk alright.
Okay, but now I’m starting to see how my cat weird actually is.
First of all: he isn’t afraid of water. In fact, our first month spend with him was full of him jumpscaring you in the middle of a nice shower, and basically Naruto running towards any noise caused by water. And I don’t know what did you expect, but his bowl was always filled.
Second: the ‘Late night zoomies’ or however is the name is a wrong term for him. He has a ‘sleep scedule’ meaning that he actually sleeps when us, humans do so that madness ir reserved for my family after our school/jobs.
Third: He was around my fish for five months. And we were so carefull with the fish and he was always wached while entering my room, but he never did anything. The closest physical contact he had ever done with the fish is sitting on a window a meter away from them.
Fourth: *He licks wood.* Anything, the closets, table and chairs, the drawers, anything that is made from wood he *will lick.*
(Sry for the bad grammar)
its good grammar better then mine lol

There are actually some breeds that loves water..
My cat was absolutely OBSESSED with cat grass. He never once threw up a hairball, he just loved the grass and would regularly steal celery thinking it was his grass. Or chives, or anything green really.
If he saw you with a new plant he would scream like he was dying and jump on all the furniture to try and get to it.
Same my cat never threw up a hair ball either but she’s crazy once she was playing with her toy she did a full on did a donut then ran into a wall and ran upstairs meowing so loud I literally was crying of laughter🤣
When I found my cat a few months back, he'd been laying under a tree in the rain, missing half his tail with a wound on his paw & was malnourished to where you could see his spine and hip bones. The other stray cat ran off but he just stayed there. I stopped to take a picture and he was completely docile, I'd never met him before, he was clearly a stray and I'd seen him around town before. Next thing I knew he was rubbing all over me, showing me his belly within a couple minutes of meeting, absolutely LOVING belly rubs, and purring up a storm. I went on my way and he started following me down the street immediately, so I carried him home, gave him a bath which he was freaked out by but never clawed or bit me, rather, he clung to me for comfort; trimmed his nails, dried him off and put some ointment on his paw. Settled him down with food and water and gave the vet a call. He was an unaltered male and at first mine and a few of my mother in law's cats hated him, but he had no interest in fighting and would just lay down or sit there and stare blankly at a hissing opponent until they ran off in confusion hahah... He's a shorthaired moggy with a lovely tuxedo coat and over the last few months he's been to the vet, seems totally healthy, has put on a good amount of weight, has 0 aggression in him and developed a super playful nature just recently. He's gotten outside a few times but always came home within a couple days and since being neutered he doesn't seem interested in getting out and is content by the window in the bedroom. His name is Theodore Graham, aka "Teddy Grahams" or just "Theo" lol... He's always coming up to me and if I don't show him attention right away he'll incessantly try and try again, he greets me by rubbing his face against my face while I give him kisses and he gets pushy with his face rubs lol... If you scratch the nerve spot on his butt he'll sometimes lick your face, he licked my nose and eyebrow once. He is such a goofy cat!! He's always begging for food and every night he lays on top of me for bed. It's a routine. I lay down and turn off the lights, he comes up and climbs on me and starts purring, lays his head under my chin if he can. One time he laid down with me and purred so loud it woke me up!! He sounds like a motorcycle when he gets going haha!
Awwww...he KNEW he had you the second you stopped! Thank you for rescuing him...you have a buddy for LIFE!
okay iiiii amm too lazy to read tthat but thank you for taking ur time writing this
Cuteeeee

Just shows how smart cats are, understanding when to trust and how to get out of a bad situation.
This makes me miss my cat so so badly. His name was Gus Gus, and I had him from the time I was 18 until about two years ago. He was 17 when he passed away, it was like losing one of my children.
Sorry for you, well at least he lived a long and happy life
Sorry for that
Mine passed at 23 almost four years ago. Was the only pet I had go the distance without some misshap. He would purr and control my heart rate when I went to sleep. I could also talk to him and he understood very well.
im so sorry.
at least he got to see you become 18, after journeying with you from year 1

We raised a cat from birth, and also had a bird. When the cat got into the same room with the bird, he chattered for the first time. It attracted the bird like a magnet. We barely saved the bird after he got hold of him.

Whenever I say “Who’s a good boy” to my cat he raises his tail and smacks it in the ground.

My cat used to run away scared when he heard a bag crinkle, now when someone is making this sound he runs into the room and sits patiently, he went from being afraid of the cereal box to thinking he deserves treats for no reason.
i had a cat who was barely affected by catnip, but she went full-zoomies when smelling mint or eucalyptus. she once managed to pilfer a little toothpaste.
My cat drinks water by dipping his paw in the water then licking it off, I’ve never seen him drink straight from the bowl in 7 years.

One hot summer day I came into the kitchen to find the family cat in the sink under a slowly running tap. They usually hated water but I guess it was too hot that day, thing is when the cat turned and saw I was watching it immediately freaked out, lepts out of the sink and ran off. I became convinced it actually LIKED water, but didn't want anyone to know!
Lol
Lol
Nah. Especially if it's a Maine Coon like I have, or a Turkish Van? Well, as my mom would always say, "It has to be their idea".
It turned the faucet on by itself?😂
Its because cats think running water is cleaner than basic water if you were wondering btw
I loved the cat language translation meaning to like & subscribe. 😂 Also, my cat kneads my chest every night at bedtime & I don’t mind the pain so much cuz I’ve only ever seen it as his love for me. Right afterwards, he’ll slump over onto his side, stretch out like a limp noodle & lay there on my chest till I start moving in my sleep. I love that he does that. Micah is my baby.
We had a cat we called Ruggy. When my daughter was born and we brought her home for the first time Ruggy was very protective of her. The next day or two after she came home we had a flower delivery. Ruggy jumped up on the dining table that was by the front door. And then proceeded to growl like a dog. That was the only time she ever did that. She also liked playing in the water. I miss her.
"The reason that the zoomies are so intense yet short lived.."
Cut to my cat running around and crashing into things for hours on end.
My cat is doing it right now. IT’S 10:30 AT NIGHT. I just wanna sleep.
Look into what they're eating. Perhaps cut down on the carbs. I fostered a cat whose personality completely changed when they were off the high carb dry food. Night and day.
Oof mood XD 😂
That “chattering”... I had a cat that did that when ever someone would sneeze. It was very weird.
My first cat would do it when someone coughed too! Awe, I miss her

Story Time:
I very purposely tried to get that image out of my cat's head when it was still a baby. At the time, if the cat (his name is Simba) was picked up or stopped from going outside by someone, he would scratch them immediately, and fiercely. Because of this, my family pretty much became a slave to him. I didn't want things in to continue this way, so even though I was told it would never work, I proceeded to train Simba. I did this by stopping him from going outside and picking him up, and dealing with the scratches until he realized that I was not going to let him have what he wants, and so he started scratching less, and sneaking more, and while this was way better, I still had to stop him from getting out. I wanted to train Simba to understand when he couldn't go outside, and I did this by sitting on the ground and physically stopping him in a consistent way; I held out my hand in a "stop" gesture. Then, whenever he tried to get past me, I would move my hand right in front of his face, and toughed out the scratches. It worked a bit at first, because when he saw me with my hand like that, he stopped trying to scratch me, and tried to be sneaky and fast, and this would work sometimes (cats are very fast and (metaphorically) slippery). Eventually though, I got good enough at stopping him that when I held out my hand he actually stopped trying to get out. I even learned to stop him by looking at him in the eyes!
Nowadays he doesn't go on my laptop, scratch or knock over anything that belongs to me, scratch or bite me (except in a light, playful way), but he still frequently comes to my bed to hang out and sleep on my lap. Basically, he still looks down on me, but now there's a sense of trust and respect, and occasionally, mild affection.
My cat likes to chase her own tail. It’s pretty hilarious how confused she gets when she catches it
Small animals are so funny XD
Does your cat think its a dog? lol
Does she lick it till it gets soggy once it is "caught"? That may be a mom-kitten play response.
At one point I had a half dozen cats. I adopted a pregnant stray and had to keep her litter. Mama loved me, but kittens LOVED me. I'd lay down to sleep, two would lay on my back, one next to my face, one under my arm and the blanket, and one tucked behind my knees.
Oh! One last cat fact: Cat's like sitting on laptops, books, and other things you're looking at not just for your attention, but because they are trying to mirror you! They see you typing away on your laptop so they think "Okay, I'll do that too." And end up sitting on your keyboard. They're only trying to bond with you, kind of like inviting a friend over to study just so you can be doing the same thing together. If you want your cat to stop sitting your laptop, it helps to get/make them their own tiny laptop to sit on!
One of our cats loves to pull nails out of the wall. She will work at it for hours and when she succeeds she is very proud of herself.
I love her
What the hell
You think your cat is doing that all my 10 cat do this
BOB VILLA! ...NO.... call in the Cat Crew, to remove those Scrooows. lol.
Maybe in your cats past life he was some kind of workman, he worked in the trades.
Our cat loves kneading. One time he jumped up on my mom while she was napping in the living room chair and he kneaded her stomach for almost 30 minutes! 😂 She really had to go to the potty when she woke up. 😂
Years ago I bought an ink jet printer. The first time I used it, my curious cat approached it slowly, startle jumping every time the paper moved. It was probably the funniest thing she has ever done.

"Cats hate the sound of plastic bags"
Yeah, try saying that to my cat who literally buries her face in bags when she see's one
Edit: Ok, I think somethings up with my cat, she didn't even respond to a frequency test
I have a cat that does that too. She rolls around in them like they are catnip.
We had to keep plastic bags from my old cat because she would chew and eat them. She did this with any kind of plastic bag, grocery or zip lock. We had to make sure not to leave any board game boxes open or on the floor because any ziploc bags for pieces would end up with all of the corners chewed off. We'd find throw up with bits of grocery bags in them all the time as well.
that is so funny
My cat does that too
Mine likes to chew the plastic, too
We had one that was obsessed with licking plastic bags. And the other one would get up on her hind legs and scratch the outside of our balcony door, that had paint texture similar to that of a black board, so much for not enjoying high pitch sounds...
The kneading is what I call "making biscuits." 😂😍
I call it "folding laundry"
My I call it kneading too
I call it kneading
My family has been calling it making biscuits for decades
Cuddle dancing.
Ok, bit of a correction...
Cats don't actually hate water, they just hate getting their fur wet for the reasons you mentioned. They actually like sources of running water.
the cats' chattering is a way of communicating with each other when they spot prey, and it is evident when there are two or more cats looking at the prey together--and they do this even outdoors, not just when the prey is protected by glass...
Whenever we let our cat in her lower back towards the tail, she will raise her but into the air and it’s hilarious
Our cats do that too; we call that pose "the High-heel" because my Great Uncle stated that it looks like a high-heel shoe.
No that means the cat is jorny
That’s the same as mine.
Mine does the same thing lmao
Is she spayed?

My cat does the butt elevator when I tickle the base of his tail.
I used to have a cat who would groom me or my dad when we scritched him near the tail. Rest in peace, Raven.
My cat grooms me too! She's my new cat after my old cat Roxy died when she was 14. I still really miss Roxy she would always walk on the oven at night. I've had Evet for I think at least a year and a half. I found Roxy's body behind the couch(one of her favorite hiding places).
You call it the but elevator too
Sorry mate, but yeah that's not tickling or grooming...
It's basically telling the cat (or dog) let's have sex.
The ones that get compulsive licking, noise making, etc. They are having an orgasm because they are 1 of many that are particularly sensitive to arousal from that activity.
1 of the real clues that tell you if it's sexual is they'll reflexively move their tail to the side to allow access their genitals.
Different animals professionals use the trick to help them do their jobs... Vet needs a temp, breeders want to breed, etc. & so they scratch said spot.
Be aware that this can cause aggression from some animals & you'll likely have no way to know if this animal will react with this instance.
This is even more true if the person is a stranger or startles them or is done around safe &/or scary spaces.
Basically, just think how you would feel if all of a sudden, someone you don't want to have sex with, just randomly grabbed your genitals without warning or consent to do a sexual act with you?
*The following is the opinion of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it! EARL happens to be fluent in CAT!*
[EARL the Salty SEAGULL:] "Actually Chatting is a form of mimicry which CATs use to lure prey to them! I knew this one cat who was really good at mimicking GULLs, though fortunately, the CAT's GULL call had a thick accent that gave them away! Still, that cat preferred FISH over WATER FOWL & would just stalk us for fun! Also, I've known plenty of cats who enjoy getting wet! I also knew two kittens, which enjoyed laying in the indentations of soda bottle (the 2 liter kind) rack that their owners had in their house!"

the cat i know is... different.. you give it a bath sure if it sees the corner of tub it will try it escape but other that knocking over all the shampoo as you try to fix it no harm done. until... you take him out to dry him off and... poop. every single time. he keeps pooping on the floor! and he HATES pooping in side. he only poops outside or in the littler box he is very house broken. but noooo he just HAS to take a dump after bath time. once i tried to hold him over the toilet so i could just flush it and be done but he didnt poop. i know they can poop on command but if they dont have poop to poop they cant. so i figured he just couldnt poop. NOPE! little jerk got moved away from not dangling over the toilet by his shoulders to hanging over the floor, me about to wrap him up in a towel cuz he wont sit still other wise and what does he do? HE FREAKING TAKES A CRAP ON THE GOSH DARN FLOOR. and since then he has never gotten a bath. he licks himself and i think he knew that if he craps on the floor he is gonna make me not want to bathe him. cat gets bath= cat takes a dump on floor which his isnt supposed to do= human not wanting poop on floor= human not giving cat bath so he DOESNT POOP ON THE FREAKING FLOOR= no more baths for the cat.= happy dry cat. he knew i am convinced he knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

"When cats finally decide to overthrow their human masters." Um, like they haven't already?
IMPORTANT: if you consider adopting an animal (or already own one) do a lot of research not just to what they can/cannot eat and such, but also take a deep dive into their natural behaviour. This helps you understand why they do what they do, and what they need. However, you can also use this knowledge to build more trust much faster by adapting to their natural instincts. I don't own a cat, but I do have a parrot (budgie) and I can tell you that his trust in me has improved greatly after imitating some of his instinctual behaviour. For instance, they live in flocks and thus bathe together. When he's taking a bath (not often, which is odd since budgies like bathing) I "play" with the water using my fingers a bit to make him think I'm bathing with him. Or the classical hand-feeding.
After purchasing a fancy cat bed for Sheba, she commandeered the box my new coffee pot came in and slept there for years. PS...ended up giving the fancy cat bed to a friend.
lmaooooo
Well that is what cats do
They don't use them lol I learned that with a dog years ago, she lives with my grandparents now and they make her a pillow bed lol. My one cat prefers boxes & a basket of laundry and the other likes the floor and half of my pillow I sleep on lol
Over time I have observed (due to insomnia and being a night owl) that the zooming occurs almost exclusively during the period before-or especially just after-using the litter box. They seem to feel particularly wound-up during this time.
I have noticed the same thing with my cat. My brother refers to that behavior as "taking a victory lap".
Dont you feel 20 pounds lighter after you drop a duece? i imagine they do too lol ready to tilt n tumble lol
One of my friend's cats is ticklish on his hips. However, we only reserve petting him there because that cat adores me, and only lets me do it anyways. When I do that, he either lies down, lets me rub his belly, and purrs like a motorcycle engine, or he does a 180 and goes full force into my hand with his head. He's also super emotional about me and often jumps up on his hind legs to scratch at the glass doors with his front paws. He even jumps up to my hand to rub it sometimes. Simply adorable.
I had a beautiful big black cat many years ago and one day I was bringing shopping inside. Anyway the first thing I brought in was a tray of 24 eggs, put them on the kitchen bench and went out for the rest. As I was walking through the door to the kitchen he was in the process of pushing that tray of eggs off it and they all smashed on the floor. I had 2 dogs and 6 cats at the time and they all proceeded to race and lick up the eggs. He was so smart, that tray was pretty heavy, but I just stood there and watched them all have their little picnic, but I didn't let them eat all the eggs as too many could make them sick, however in hindsight, it was the funniest thing he did and he did some crazy stuff. Some pets really do have the best personalities...love them and couldn't live without them.
My brothers cat: rolls into his back and looks at me
Me: looks at him and then blinks
My brothers cat: IMA DIE AHHHHHH runs full speed up the stairs and almost crashes into a wall
My kitten is very aware of any reflections that move on the ceiling or the walls; usually because a moving piece of cutlery is catching a beam of light from the window or a lamp; The brightness can be quite subtle, but the kitten finds it really fascinating and wants to chase it
If your arms and legs don't have 50K scratches on them, you're not a real cat owner.
Thanks for mentioning things like the cucumber, bathing and scratching a cats butt. As much as I enjoy cat videos there is nothing more irritating than to see people forcing a cat to be bathed. I get that sometimes cats get into stuff and can come home pretty fragrant. But there’s a way to bathe a cat which will reduce their stress and fear hopefully making it less likely to sink its razor sharp claws into your arms. It doesn’t take much to find out the best, safest way to get a cat clean but unless you are just sadistic let your kitty clean themselves.
I like the Garfield at the begining.

One of my cats, Marty, is fascinated by water. Usually in the toilet or filled bathtub. She’ll pat/swat at the water. Once she notices that she’s wet, she’ll either shake her paw to get rid of the water or will run off somewhere. My other cat, Lakes, loves to climb onto my mom. However, she doesn’t have stable footing while walking on my mom. In order to keep herself from falling, she’ll use her claws no matter how many times my mom tries to tell her otherwise. Lakes will also rub her pointed tooth on you while petting her.

Every time my cat would stair at a wall he was studying something, a tiny piece of dust being moved by the convection currents or a near microscopic insect or arachnid, otherwise he just fell asleep there from boredom.
My boy looooves combs. He gets excited at even the sight of a comb.
My cat has the “butt scratch effect” but instead of her strange meowing, she put her head down and sticks her butt up! She even seems to enjoy it!
If she hasn't been spayed it's usually a sign they are ready to mate
I don’t get it
i love how you credit the owners of the original videos. i wish more youtubers did that.
Thankyou for going over some of these funny trends that are potentially dangerous for the animal, really good to spread the word in a place where u won’t get called a Karen or Debbie downer lol 🙄 I just care about animals health
there is no harmful things happening here
i watched the whole video so shut up
@@RTFS Within the last 3. Beyond that, I'm pretty sure the comment is actually a positive judgment of the video.
Why does my cat LOVE scratching her water bowl??
From personal experience with a LOT of cats over a lifetime as a certified Cat Mom, the "chattering" cats (we call it "ratchet jaw") are not the ones that are good hunters, in fact they are often very bad at anything more than playing with prey critters. The best mouser cats are always the ones that will sit absolutely silent and still as a rock before shooting like a blurred bullet to catch prey.
scratching a cat on the butt at the start of the tail, this is the only place a cat can not clean themselves. so when you scratch it, they think you atr cleaning them. so they in turn would CLEAN the other cat that is helping out. so it is very sensitive there because cats are not use to that spot being touched.

We presently are owned by two cat brothers, from the same litter.
One crazy thing they do is that when they spot a potential enemy, they raise up on their back legs and stand with their front legs held at their sides. Then they slowly advance toward their foe while making a sound best described as a mumbling growl. "Mumbledie mumbled mum mum", and so on. We've seen big dogs look at them all confused, the the dogs invariably retreat and run away.
Another couple of weird behavior is that one of the brothers, Eros loves to fetch. I we could spend hours throwing his toys. He runs to get them then carries them back meowing the whole time.
Frequently, he'll stop for a refreshing sip from his water bowl. Then, he'll gentle put his toy in the water bowl, dipping it carefully with a paw, the happily continue fetching. Sometimes he gets the toy completely saturated. He gets visibly upset if you don't want to throw his soggy dipping wet toy.
I had a cat that would sneak into the car so she could go for a ride. She would also follow me like a puppy. One night I walked about 5 kilometres into town, I'm about to go into a club when I hear her meow at me. It cost me $20 to take her home, lock her in the house and get back to town. She lived to the grand old age of 19 and is missed a lot.
My old lady cat has done the corner thing her whole life (like her father) and adds one thing (like her father). She likes to do various cat cries at the corner and move her ears around when she does it. When I interrupt her "singing at corners", she gives that narrow-eyed-flat-eared annoyed look at me.
She's probably like, "Yes I am singing and talking to this corner, human. You wouldn't understand. You're not a cat. Now leave me in peace!" She's probably doing it because she likes the sound of her own voice lol
@@lisachiappetti6092 Yeah, I can see that. The thought crossed my mind but it still puzzles me. She just did it again an hour ago. I just shrugged and went back to my room.
The strangest thing my cat did is trying to eat a cucumber after I tried the Cucumber challenge.
Yeah, all 3 of my cats did the same thing. I was so disappointed lol.
The involuntary licking behavior is also thought to be a part of social grooming, when another cat cleans their fur they automatically get ready to lick, but since you're not another cat, and has much less fur, out of reach, they start licking the air without being able to stop.
This was really good. I've had cats for 53 years, (I started at 6) and I learned a few things! ✌😸
I have an 8-month old kitten who really enjoys her "late-night zoomies." She normally gets started around 2 am and doesn't stop until around 5:30 or so.
My cat does the "chattering" when I'm playing darts
@Amanda Davies very good point Amanda I didnt even think about that. Sounds logical though
I think your cat wanna throw that dart too😅
My kitten Koi LOVES water. When we give her a shower she just stands there like she doesn't care, even though she looks like a fluffy sphynx.
I was raised around cats all my life to the point that I tend to slowblink back on reflex... but let me tell you, the slowblink is a good part of your arsenal for befriending stranger cats. If they aren't 100% feral, they may come up to you if you stay put, get as low to the ground as you can, and give them a slowblink or two. Which is embarrassing in public, sure, but look. Sometimes it's worth it for an especially cute cat.
You can also use the blink just for getting close on your own - if the cat doesn't run after your first step toward it, give it the blink and make sure your movements are slow.
The late night zoomies are hilarius! When our cat does it its so funny.
Every one of these is hilariously true! When my mom would type on her manual typewriter our cat would gag and lick her mouth. Even jangling a key chain could induce gagging. You missed one funny behavior. Sometimes our cats would carefully sniff all around something, and then hold their mouths wide open as if the odor had grossed them out. They also wanted ALL of our attention. If we were reading or writing, they would pull the pen or book down with one paw and stare straight into our eyes. If we ignored them and resumed our task, they would plop their butt right on top of the book or letter and again initiate eye contact. Thank you for a fun video.
They have what's called a Jacobsons organ in the roof of their mouths and it lets them "taste" the air...so I've read.
Late one summer in a St Louis apartment, I decided to take out the garbage. There was no one on the parking lot. Approaching the dumpster in the deep black night the lid slowly raises up, the bag falls as I screeeeeam...a cat jumps out!
I got a wierd one. we came to an agreement early on that if they cooperated with a shower, it'd be short, and go straight from acceptable warm water to a warm blanket and cuddles. What helped was that there was no escape for the cat, and they knew it. and they learned by the 3rd time or so that it can be quick and annoying for a little bit, or long drawn out and annoying giving much of the water in the fur the time to cool and settle. Cat's even asked for it a few times. when they got something in their fur and decided that it was too gross for a traditional wash.
My cat likes talking back to everyone😂
Extra note: during play, cats may othen scratch and bite their playmates if they get on top of them, especially kittens. So them stratching your hand _might_ be a form of playing. Only reason it hurts is because we are furless softies, since our bare hands are so... Bare, we don't have any protective fur to protect ourselves from what would normally be completely harmless activities for other cats.
But I _can_ be wrong about some stuff, so please feel free to share your thoughts.
No, I think you're right. They can bite and swipe at each other and usually won't bleed because of their thick fur, so I think they try to do it to us and then go "Why're they so upset? it was just a play bite!"
@@amberkat8147 That's why I often put up with it for a time. However, my stepmom has one cat that I never let claw me because she literally has sharper claws than a kitten's. It actually drew a bit of blood the last time she swatted at me.
i nearly exploded of cuteness at 20:52
I find using a wet rag to wet their fur then a soapy rag to suds em up then another wet rag to rinse em off is the best way to give em a bath
