Your painting is pretty good. I would say, take the plunge and attempt boot sculpting. Make em more Z. I bet you could do it. Also Proud Namekian pulls off the early Z look, and yours looks like Cell Saga - Onward. Good Job.
Yea I already did that with a Dragon stars piccolo, only reason i didn’t do it with this one is cause I wanted it to be as easy as possible for anyone who wanted to do it. & Yea I just said the same in another comment & I appreciate it💯
Manga canon Piccolo has yellow accents. They thought it looked washed out and ugly in the 80s/90s when animating it, so they changed the color to pink. But honestly I’m happy to now have an anime accurate and manga accurate Piccolo with this body
using a little bit of acetone and I mean a tiny dab on a cotton swab of the lowest percent you can find bc it can chew the plastic if you use too much or it’s too strong. But using it where you’re going to paint makes it stick even better bc it gets rid of the old finish don’t rub too hard either bc it’s plastic

There's actually barely any reuse between this piccolo and the Z piccolo. The arms are different, torsos are completely different, different heads and shoulders, lower legs, ankles and feet. I think only the hands belt and crotch are the same. Still an easy custom for those who don't mind discrepancies in the character design.
I have both, only thing I see that’s different is the torso, the arms & the feet, ofc the heads are different but really isn’t that much of a difference at all, & I wouldn’t say there’s really any character discrepancies considering it’s exactly how piccolo looks during the cell saga as well as dbsuper
@THEFIGUREVERSE look at the placement of the yellow pads on his arms. They are completely different. Those are the big discrepancies. Little stuff is the yellow pads on the ankles are on the back of Super vs. them being on the front of Z. The parts that are not important but are still different are the shape of the legs. The way the pants taper and fold is a different sculpt. Same with the lower torso. I'm super detail oriented, so the arms being inaccurate to anything other than superhero stands out to me, but for those that don't notice things like that, I think this is a good route.
I usually use matte rust oleum sealer after, but I didn’t have to this time around, fortunately there was no paint chipping when moving the joints wich was surprising even to me, cause like u said that usually is an issue most of the time if u don’t seal it.
Fire custom im not to big a fan of the default look i way prefer this custom, never found this piccolo in any stores, both my targets have 0 figuarts and my walmart figuarts always are out of stock. Best buy tho comes in clutch.

Did you use anything to seal the paint? I know joints especially are susceptible to paint chipping.
