Since this was published six years ago the ZipRider has been surpassed in size. Still, it is a mile long and descends 1300 feet in altitude and is quite a ride. One thing I experienced and can be seen in this video, is the tendency for the rider to rotate. I was able to control this rotation by putting a hand out kind of like a control fin.
Looks fun. I zip lined in Costa Rica in the jungle. The platform you are on is like the Trump plaza compared to the rickety tonu piece of wood you stand on in the middle of the jungle.
The wife and I were there a few months after this was posted. We didn't ride the zipline but were right under where they come down, just before landing. I really thought I saw some of their feet hitting the tree tops. Our visit to Hoonah was great. The cruise ship you can see in the background might be the same one we were on months later.
Very curious about the "clap--stop" at the end. I went to the The Gorge, the largest in North Carolina, and the stops at the end were nearly violent, no matter how I prepared for them. I tried "the embrace" method and I tried "the relaxed" and my soul, equally, left my body for a split second. How was this ending?
i was looking at other zips because i just went to the gorge as well! i had to close my eyes everytime it would get to the end because it was so scary ahah! that was the most nerve wracking part of the whole thing
WOW, that's LARGE! I wanna try that! The idea of going at very high speeds without an unpleasant weightlessness sensation seems like an activity I could get behind.
Cool, but since it's so high up in the air, above the trees, that it's more just like a regular cable-trolly ride, but out exposed to the bad weather, unfortunately. I might give it a whirl if I get up to SE Alaska, though.
@@mikeblaz Once I saw the operation and the infrastructure the price didn't seem that bloated for what they are charging. Had to cost in the millions to build. They had to barge or fly in all the materials, equipment, and labor. Build a road to the top. The top and bottom anchors are massive, lots of steel, concrete and large cables. The only time it gets used is when cruise ships are there, so lots of down time not making money. From what I can remember it takes about 10 people to operate it. Maintenance has to cost a lot due to it is on the coast and it rains and the wind blows constantly.
All I'm thinking is what could go wrong, Aircraft or helicopter going out of control an hitting lines, pulleys failing, do they make you sign a release?
The largest canopy zipline tour in the world is in Historic Banning Mills in Georgia. Its amazing 2 day tour with lunch , dinner, and you get to sleep in a nice tree house. They have 2 large ziplines, the screaming eagle and the flight of the falcon. Not quite this large but still large. Check it out.
Zipline for the kids that travel on the sunshine bus and lick the windows, the latter however seems to be a lot worse in the winter months when tongues get stuck.
THIS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING THE LONGEST IN THE WORLD!!! There are several ziplines that are longer than this one. This zipline is less than 2km. Ziprider in Mexico was the worlds longest zipline at 2.5km until very recently, when the UAE introduces a zipline that is even longer!
Most people won’t even try a zip line today as they go too fast. This zip line is doable in more people’s psyche . It is what it is. Owners: take their money and say thank you. Bored person: Oh, and get out of their line…”higher, faster , farther “. is just down the road. Go there and quit your bitchin.
just curious as to how do they inspect the lines for miniscule damage, wear, fatigue, and how often. - & what kind of authority if any oversees it ? When I was a lot younger I prob. woulda thought "who gives a shit ?" and jumped right on there, wishing I had a little rocket tied to my ass.
It starts going at around 2:30,
if you’d like to skip the long wait.
Thank you!
i wish i read the comments before i spent half the video waiting LMAO thank you

Can anybody else smell how clean the air is in that video?
Definitely not the largest or longest! One in Puerto Rico is over 8,000 feet in length. With speeds for some of 95mph.
There’s one in the United Arab Emirates that’s longer by almost 2000 feet.

This gives me southpark zip line episode vibes
That looked amazing! 😀❤️👍
Looks incredible
Ly scary.
thanks for posting this video so i wouldn't have to experience myself so scary lol
There's was a herd of deer in the small clearing near the pond on the left when I went in 2012.
Looks fun. Gorgeous scenery!
Looks like about a one minute ride?? Just curious,,
I would love to see how they set that rig up 😜😜👍👍👍
I always wonder how they run that line up there, SUPER impressive
Helicopters surprisingly. Used in quite a few similar projects all over.
@@dieselfan7406 i literally imagined a helicopter carrying the cables and was like "nah that would be too expensive"
They used helicopters to build the skyrail in cairns australia

*ZIPLIIIIIIIIIIINE* !!!!
i've seen four or five videos on zip lines , all claiming to be the largest in the world . Hmm?
Each youtuber wants to get the most views/likes...
Hate to be the guy pulling the crab line to get the harness back up.
. . . . . o.k. yah but I don't deny it still looks fun as hell.
I need to try with my Batman's cape.
I would hate to have the job of running that seat back up the hill!
Longest, maybe? Largest simply implies the cable being used is very big/thick.
Stupid people aren’t good at English.
So there IS a reason to go to Alaska after all.
I will love to do it but not in the rain .
Summer or damn near it and it’s nonstop rain, yup this is the north
