If you add the salt and baking soda first to the water (should be warm) and THEN mix it into the soap you would have a much easier time and create fewer bubbles.
@@stanleymoore4043 I have had great success getting out stsins in carpet using Zout stain remover. Don't use too much because it is very soapy. Wet the stain slightly, work in the zout, let sit for 10 minutes. Once the stain is gone use a vinegar and water rinse to remove the excess soap. (If you don't the "stain" will appear to come back in a few weeks as the soap attaches itself to any new dirt that touches it, sticking it to the fibers. A rug cleaning guy said they only use vinegar and water to clean carpets for that reason.
I make a baking soda/dish soap "paste" to wash any containers that may have held such things as pasta sauce, or any kind of high fat content food. Works beautifully to remove the grease left behind so that it never goes down the drain. I use paper towels for the initial clean for that very purpose---to prevent grease going down the drain---although a cloth (😖...too gross to think of doing!) can be used if one doesn't like to use paper towels. I've used the salt/soap/baking soda mix for 62 of my 70 years after Mom taught me to make it up and use it.

Thank you for the recipe. I will have to make this and try it. I'm from Evington VA. Hey one tip for cleaning out tea stains that I discovered for those metal cups that we love to use, hard plastic cups, tea jugs, etc. is put hot water in to fill all the way up and then dump in some dry cascade powder and let it sit for a while. Rinse out with NO scrubbing might I add and it is clean as a whistle. If tea stains are really old you may have to use a little elbow power to give it a light scrub but really comes out clean. Alka seltzer or denture cleaner works too. Just make sure you rinse it several times afterwards and sparkling clean it will be.
I worked in a restaurant. We would fill the sink with hot water & add a little liquid bleach. Soaked all the stained coffee cups in this & the stains were gone.
By mixing the salt in advance it has dissolved and you don’t benefit from its purpose as a mild abrasive. Better to add salt immediately before use, when an abrasive is required.
I think salt a solid form will definitely have an abrasive effect. I also think that salt in a liquefied form will have a light abrasive or cleaning affect as well. Just slower acting.

Salt is best for cast iron restoration especially when the pan or skillet has rusted. Sprinkle salt on the pan or skillet , leave for some time, add dish soap and then scrub with a soft scrub pad. Wash off, dry and season the pan and it'll be as good as new. P.S. This has worked for me, With regular seasoning, my pan has not rusted again for over 2 years now. Some readers have said not to use salt or soap on cast iron, so be warned.

I have found that for the sticky goo that collects on top of the stove air hub as well as ceiling fan blades, that alcohol 90% or higher sprayed on and left for a few minutes allows you to easily wipe of all this dusty oily goo!
Lysol disinfectant spray dissolves grease on top of refrigerator!, stove hood vent. I’ve tried everything before and it always took a lot of scrubbing. With Lysol the grease wipes off right down to the original surface.
Using the scouring side of a sponge like the one shown here on metal makes etches that encourage the growth of bacteria and stop your stainless steel from having its original shine. Use the scouring side of the sponge on non-scratch surfaces only! Like… porcelain/ceramic stoneware (not with coatings) and glassware. Don’t use on plastic or metal surfaces.
I use only baking soda on damp sponge and the harden stain/grease just come off easily from the pot, after which i rinse it off and wash clean with detergent. Baking soda is the main function.
When I make fish at home, I use the squeezed out lemon halves after eating to clean out the pan - not only removes grease but neutralizes any fishy smell. :)
This will be free if greases and insect free as the drain gets the salt soda cleanner liquid all together. Especially I prefer that keep a plastic bowl and clean the vessels then pour the whole water inside the sink that will clean the pipe with the pressure of water. Direct pouring from tap makes the water pass through the pipe. Final with the prepared liquid really a clean environment and smells good. Suggestion from India.
A friend who worked for a company making detergents and shampoos in the 1980s, told me that his company kept adding salt to thicken and water to thin until the products barely worked because they were so dilute. 1:55 No way is that a burnt pan, the stain is too small and the underside of the pan looks virtually new before cleaning.
Interesting story but I think the baking soda is probably the most important added ingredient. Sounds as if your friend's company didn't add that. I unblock sinks with just baking soda and boiled vinegar.
I’m definitely giving this method a go prompto - liquid, water, bicarbonate of soda and salt - hmm, looks pretty effective. 😁 I’m all the way from England!
Just baking soda and water mixture is really all that's necessary. I've cleaned 10 year coffee-stained mugs that way and they look brand new. Sometimes I add a little vinegar or lemon juice.
I get a jar and pierce holes in the lid. Fill it with bicarbonate of soda and a few drops of my favourite essential oil. I sprinkle it on the carpets and leave for a while before vacuuming. It leaves the room smelling fresh. I also sprinkle it onto the porcelain ware in the bathroom then rub with a damp cloth and rinse. Leaves bathroom sparkling and fresh smelling using no chemicals.
I appreciate the tip. I am always open minded on trying new things when it comes to cleaning. I am going to mix some up give it a try. Thank you for sharing.
For ant deterrents, vinegar, dishwashing soap, baking soda, and water works very well. I know it foams so much when vinegar and baking soda mix just leave it in a bowl with dish soap. Leave water last. Wait until bubbles come down leaving the liquid, fill into an industrial spray bottle, add water into the remaining liquid mix then spray away. Don't spray too much otherwise it becomes foamy and wipe down. Don't worry about residue on a smooth surface it acts like a barrier/wax. Ants don't come back 👍 it works for the first time for me after trying every insecticide and natural spray on the market that never worked.

I do this as well. I scrub the solution in, let sit for a bit then wash as normal.
Although I don't know measurements I just mix everything together.
Is it good for laundered blood on bed sheets?
@@joyflyinghawk2104 Yes it will, mostly because of the peroxide. But if it's blood or any other bio-material, I use a live bio-enzyme based product. No scrubbing required. Just add water, let it soak for as long as needed, keeping it wet so the little enzymes can work, and they will eat it all away. Completely safe. I live in Canada and use a the bio-enzyme product called EZ Clean. It's made locally in Alberta but they do ship out. Used a great deal in dog and cat kennels, and pet messes on carpet or anywhere else. There's a thousand uses for it. But for anything bio-based, this is my go-to product.

If you add the salt and baking soda first to the water (should be warm) and THEN mix it into the soap you would have a much easier time and create fewer bubbles.
How well does it work on carpet stains?
I just assumed the salt was added last in cold liquid to help scrub the items.
Been using detergent mixed with salt my whole life. Usually to soak overnight. Works like a charm. Now I’ll add a little baking soda…

Wish I'd known this when I worked in restaurants and kitchens. Very good idea.

You do not mix vinegar up with this mixture due to the vapor interactions.
I wait till the dish soap bottle is half empty, then add 1/2 c water, plus salt & soda - more convenient for me & still saves $$
