I love mine so far! I'm passing fuel stations and getting all kids of looks. a well thought out and sharp looking truck. I look forward to buying more with the Dd15 and the dt12 transmission. good job western star! !
They are right, it's one of the few I would consider giving up my w900 for. I hate the thought of giving up my hood but this is the only aero truck I'll be considering. Unfortunately business bottom line has to come before style anymore. Can't wait to test drive one and check it out in person
Does anyone know what mpg one of these dd15, 450hp, 5700xe will give you with 2.47 ration, d12 trans driving thru midwrst pulling dry van 25k avg weigh ???
I test drove one of these today. The only thing I found that I did not like was the right side mirror was to high. I could not see the top 3 inches of the mirror while sitting in the drivers seat. They need to lower the mirror so it's not above the window.
You really do have to utilize the cruise most of the time. That’s how the engine is designed and it takes time to get used to, the transmission can read the road and grades automatically,
+Relaxation Station Actually, there is some mention of the vehicle's weight in another video. Daimler claims it's 19,000 pounds full of fuel. We could not dispute that because we did not weigh it. As for fuel economy, on a short test drive with a brand new truck we could not possibly come up with a valid or reliable estimate on its fuel consumption. Daimler was throwing numbers around suggesting it was the second most fuel-efficient truck in the fleet -- meaning behind the Cascadia, which they did not actually mention by name -- while saying it was something like 14% more fuel efficient that a 4900 model. I think there's a reference to that in another video as well. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
I used to live in Beatty and it's pronounced the same as the actors Ned and Warren Beatty not Beetty. Otherwise pretty cool to choose that location to test that truck.
+dieselchevyluv Sorry about the mispronunciation. Our bad. If we could fix the audio without losing all our views, we would. : ( But glad you liked the video.
The only two trucks I like Western Star and Kenworth well I'm with Kenworth you don't get the Detroit Diesel I love so much paccar engine does not have any torque that is the worst engine I ever had in a paccar engine do I ever get a Kenworth I would have to get it with Cummings
The auto works great in my cascadia. (Same exact transmission) some much better for general freight even out here in the west. If you are doing general flatbed and box van I would absolutely recommend it. If by chance you may do 96,000 or 105,000 or more, sure I might just recommend a different engine / transmission combo. Other than that I'm in love with this transmission after 21 years of driving old 9 & current 10/13 speeds.
Best looking truck ever !!! She's a beauty !!!

We are thinking of getting one this spring. What weight do you have in the box. What gears in the rear end
Testing out the ride, handling, and noise level on one of the smoothest, newest, and quietest roads in the country....

That's the most sexy truck i never seen, it can come with square big fuel tanks and a Mercedes Europa double reduction axle?
Beautiful!

How does this Truck do in a Canadian winter?

As good as this truck drives on the road, I'd like to see how well they back into docks.
Strange that there's no mention of the gross weight and the mpg!

Cascadia is more fuel efficient???
My uncle Alvin went there once but the men from area 51 detained him - they thought that one of their aliens had absconded.

What is the average mpg with a 40k load?
Aerodynamics is good - not everyone needs a truck that looks like 6900 or a Kenworth C500 for that matter.
If people would just watch closely at the truck's acceleration in the video they can see it's loaded for bear.

Nice looking truck but shit engine and trans combo!
How so? I was considering buying one.
Journey into the Unknown skip the DT12 auto. Go with a manual.
+Journey into the Unknown depending on what you are hauling and were a bigger motor and a 13 speed manual would be a better combo
