Sometimes I think I'm the only one that relied on these guys to get me thru some real hard times. It's a shame they got lost in the shuffle, cuz they're so much better than bands who are still remembered on a national level. Santos is top 5 metal vocals for me ever

Santos is a real deal. Honest in his music. That makes it really approachable and easy to connect with i think.
Another Spineshank album never came, so here I am still listening to this masterpiece in 2024. This album sadly wasn’t promoted or appreciated anywhere near what it deserved 🤘🤘😢
I always liked their soft songs. The lead singer's voice is amazing.
For anyone who disliked this 7 years ago, this was a bit different than we were use to. 7 years later, it's aged like fine wine. This is the newest Spineshank you'll get. And it's awesome!

This band has an honesty that you don't get from most.
I think their timing wasn’t good. Had they waited a couple of years and got a good package tour like when Sevendust and Coal Chamber toured together, they would have been more successful.
Jonny came back recently, he's doing more silent civilian and also hinted there might be more spineshank coming later as well but it might not still be called spineshank

i saw these guys 6-30-12 in battle creek and like 15 people showed up. the show was great and SHANK was amazing... i got to talk to all of them and hang with them before and after the show... i bought them all drinks and we chatted like true metal fans do. i wore a HEIGHT OF CALLOUSNESS shirt and they had fun mocking their young cartoon versions of themselves. people need to hear this because its awesome and these are awesome guys!!! this c.d. is worth buyin... support spineshank!!! my opinion.
I don't really understand all the fuss on here about the new album. Although I do admit it's not as good as "Self Destructive Pattern" or "The Height of Callousness", but it's still better than 90% of the garbage out today in the music industry. I actually enjoy the album from beginning to end. I wasn't too fond of it at first, but after a few listens, it really grew on me.

One of the most underrated bands from their era. Killed 80% of the bands out around the time their first 3 albums were out. This one fuckin' SLAPS too. 💀💀💀
I don't think people understand that a band grows as they play together... what they did one album doesn't mean that they will sound like that forever.
As a musician a hiatus can take a band in a different tone and direction altogether. I am very happy with this album! I've been a spineshank fan since they were first part of the mainstream!
But I also like Johnny Santos's other band as well Silent Civilian.... Rebirth of the temple is an amazing musician's album!

I love the new album.
And I believe it takes some guts for a band to create a piece that won't easily meet fans' expectations.
The album seems simple, vague and repetitive at first glance - especially if you expect some melo-core-drama like LP. But when you give it a thorough listen, you realize it is an album that finds its place in your heart and it is musically absolutely professional.
Seen these guys 4 times...40 below summer too...good memories...! Still awesome as ever...for those who don't know...Silent Civilian...His other band.

Santos still sounds great, sounds like he's got the fire still, it's the rest of the band that sounds like they have nothing left, maybe this song is about the band...

back in the 90s when the music was just simple and raw everyone like it, now i just see people complaining about everything, this a classic spineshank music, for sure that all of you only know the
videocipls and dont even listen to all the songs they made.
This album is one of the best of 2012. I would be really surprised if someone picked this CD up and didn't like it or was disappointed.

I love it. Maybe not as fast or industrial as old Spineshank. But this is solid. I jam to this driving home from work. You can't expect the same album over and over again. Now we have no Spineshank again. It sucks. They are a link to my teenage years.

Its amazing how musicians such as the vocalist in this video start off being a casual vocalist but then he came out with Silent Civilian and turns out he's a really good hardcore screamer and a bad ass guitar player. Musicians are full of surprises...

What a lot of people fail to see with Spineshank in this album is that they've grown musically. It isn't as raw, or edgy. There is more emotion and anger in this album than the ones previous. Not only a great song, but an amazing album.
This album is a massive step backwards and completely abandons their core sound for the most part. Call it musical progression if you will, I call it career suicide hence why they didn't really tour this record and have been dropped by their label.
As bands age, their ideals change. While I miss their raw sound, I loved this album. At least it isn't as bad as what Coal Chamber's new album came out like...
Sean Dastrup Their best work is Height Of Callousness which is in no way a ''raw'' record. I would in fact say this album is far rawer, it sounds like a demo in comparison. The hollow production is one of my main problems with it.
I would agree that The Height Of Callousness is their best album. Had a lot of polish on it. I think it's all in every individuals opinion though. There are parts of each album that I like more than any of either of their albums. I think for this album, I enjoyed the continued concept in the album. I look forward to what Spineshank can do with their next release.

@@magneteye I heard something that they did a acoustic set, but it never got recorded, which is hard to believe.
@@megaforceomar2996 The recording i heard is just Jonny, playing it on acoustic, singin it for first time to a friend who just happened to record it. it was just an idea at that point. but its raw, intense, and the feeling is a lot different from what it became later. But yeah, they did a lot of recordings, covers, etc that will never see light of day.
Now that Tommy and Jonny are back making music together, I'm stoked for new music!!!
People keep referring to "Old Spineshank", but they seem to forget that old Spineshank was Strictly Diesel, not Height of Callousness and Self-Destructive Pattern. Personally I loved old Spineshank, the *original* Spineshank from Strictly Diesel. One of the best albums of all time, IMHO. I didn't much like Height of Callousness or Self-Destructive Pattern. To me, this song doesn't sound like they've got a "new" sound. Rather, it sounds like they're returning to their roots, the type of music the band was about originally, before they went heavy Industrial. And so far as I'm concerned, it's a good thing.
yeah strictley diesel's their best. Self destructive is a close second yeah i didn't get itno height as much as everyone else did its not as good as the the other 2. And yeah didn't get into the new record besides this song

Strictly Diesel is definitely them at their darkest, much rawer in its emotional honesty than the later albums, which are great too but i feel like they had to play too much to the label's flute. Though gotta admit Height of Callousness had really cool deep cuts and aggressive guitar tone, can hear a lot of its influence on Celldweller's debut which is also one of my favorites.
However i dont see how this song is like SD stuff, this sounds way too sugarcoated and lacks the rawness of the early band. I still was really happy when i learned theyre putting out another record 8 years ago and i remember some of the songs were surprisingly heavy, but Strictly Diesel 100% takes the cake with the band at their most authentic, and Detached is their best song imo.

People are going to have different opinions of things, but I think that we all know, and Spineshank knows too, that one cannot bring back nu-metal. Where I do miss the sense of industrialism from their previous albums, this is a breath of fresh air. I say if they make enough from this album to start another one, I am curious enough to see where they go from here. If not, I'll be prepared for another album from Silent Civilian,
KSE's End of Heartache single....LAME...all the screams are gone. killed that amazing song...singles , especially for the heavier type of bands, get all messed up when edited....even though, i am guessing this is not edited , maybe they're trying to broaden their options and crowd..who knows, but I'll always have mad love for Spineshank

Personally you can't really expect and/or keep art/music/creativity in a little box, think about it, if they stayed the exact same you would get bored with it, with thoughts of "is this really the extent of their ability?" Think back to your own tastes and how they have changed and will change over the course of time. Even if by only a little bit. It's impossible to please everyone.

I like that this has a silent civilian feel to it & the band has evolved in a good way rather than just going too commercial like most of the great bands have these days.
This song was written by Jonny, and Silent Civilian is his band and he writes most of that music. So i guess thats why you hear similarities?

I had this issue wih it at first, but then once listening to the song Anger, Denial, Acceptance and the 3 part song at the end, as well as Ploratio Morbus, I found it made sense to me. It's supposed to be damn dirty and sound "off". Some songs suffer for it, but those tracks shine because of it I think.

Some things should've been left in the past, Height of Callousness and Self Destructive Pattern are still some of my favourite albums of all time.
Spineshank has always had an original sound, im not going to pick them apart because the song is soft. Its still spineshank. Im glad they decided to do another album, i grew up listening to these guys.
New Spineshank is like old Spineshank + Silent Civilian. Love them both anyway!!!
