You can tell he is a ghost from the past because his clothes are much older than the others and his shorts are from the 60s/70s. The song title Bonfire has two meaning. In the story it is about how people tell his story at this camp over a bonfire like a scary story. In terms of the song, it is just full of fire lyrics, like he's making a bonfire out of how many are in this song. In university I had to write a whole paper about a music video, I chose this one :)

He finds a bonfire with a bunch of campers (wearing the same camp shirts as him). He also notices a man with a knife heading for them. He tries to call out to them but no on can hear him. He trips, finds a knife, and runs and to warn and protect the other campers. No one can hear them because they're too busy telling some kind of scary story. When the man with the knife finally reaches them he only scares them and everyone begins to laugh(The man with the knife also has a noose around his neck and is dressed just like Gambino) Gambino realizes he's dead and has become some kind of ghost story. Once he realizes the world resets and the video begins again. Hope that helped!
