He must not know there are hundreds of gun laws already so making harder for the small percentage of people who are crazy will also make it harder for the people who will never do that and thats not fair
If it just makes it harder for everyone in general if the outcome was even less gun violence then I’ll rather take that outcome. The “good guy with a gun” is a fallacy to stop further gun violence. If it is to defend your home, sure but having access to a gun that is usually meant for actual combat scenarios being relatively accessible to the general public is asinine. The solution is often having better access to healthcare and help for these folks who clearly need it AND improving the material conditions of those who are less unfortunate. Ultimately, things like crime, etc. only go down when people’s needs are met.
@@GaspoweR This! This plus Peggy's perspective summarizes my position entirely. I don't want a ban, but I do want it to be harder to own a gun. You'll just have to wait longer. That's completely fair. I say this as a gun owner.
I guess I just don't get it. In Europe allowing people to own guns sounds like the most bonkers GTA-in-real-life fanfic stuff you can come up with. Then again it's very different over here, never like I needed a freaking murder weapon to defend myself.
you have the right to own a gun in every country in europe. sure, in a lot of them the laws are kind of strict (though not all, look at switzerland, poland or the czech republic), but you can still own a gun. also all weapons are murder weapons - that's what a weapon is made for
@@killingyourself101 In the Netherlands, if I'm not mistaken, it's forbidden, but you can get an "exception" for stuff like reenactment, hunting. So owning a gun without a reason is against the law. Lots of different weapons are as well, you need to get a permit for specific situations of instances. It makes sense that it isn't completely forbidden in every imaginable situation. But to me, it's insanity to let normal citizens without need for a firearm own a deadly weapon.
The torturing animals thing? Yes, most murderers don't - but when a kid tortures animals there's a greater risk they go on to murder later in life. It's a huge red flag. It was even recently revealed the kid he was talking about right before that had a history of torturing animals.

That’s already a law, If you have even a misdemeanor DV you give up your rights to a weapon
