Couldn't agree with you more Andrew!! TTFAF is I guess the most well known around the world, but as you say, Valley is the definition of a true anthem! It's certainly the first track that comes to my mind when I think Dragonforce! x 😃💣💥🤘🖤🎸🥁🎶🎤
I got into them in high school (longer than 10yr tho!) and my gf at the time gave me this album on CD when she realized it was the only one I didn’t have. Very considerate and one of the nicest gifts I’ve gotten. No occasion, just “here ya go”
The change in the pre-chorus from "On the wings of death by the hands of doom, by the darkest light from the darkest moon" to "On the wings of life, by the hands of hope, by the brightest light from the brightest sun", is amazing. I just don't have the words, but is the only way that they can add more emocion to an already very emocional pre-chorus. Is very good musical resource.
This ending solo. I heard this solo for the first time about 2010 and after listening so many bands/songs, it's still one of my fav guitar solo. Narration. Emotions. Guys, I started play guitar because of DragonForce and solo like this.
Agreed. Marc is a great singer in his own right, but his voice is more generic. ZP has a very unique voice that is both raspy and melodic, which gives him a better emotional range. It's a shame he hasn't done anything interesting after Dragonforce. His hard-rock band I Am I didn't really go anywhere after their mediocre first album. He also did an album called Valley of Tears with a band called Tank. It has a couple of decent songs, but overall I feel that ZP's talents are wasted in these relatively unknown bands when he made a name for himself in such a big band as Dragonforce. I really hope he will come back to the power metal scene at some point.
That outro is honestly one of the finest moments in all of power metal! If one sound clip could be played to anyone to show them what power metal instrumentation is all about it should be those last two minutes.
Entah di mana kaset pita saya ini, dulu selalu dengar lagu lagu album ini, valley of the damned dan disciple of babylon lagu yang selalu saya nyanyikan saat bermain band dengan teman sekolah 🤘 Waktu mungkin takkan kembali , tapi ingatan selalu tersimpan, dan saat ini saya hanya tersenyum mengingat itu semua Salam dari indonesia 🇮🇩
When I discovered DragonForce with TTFAF, I wanted to listen to their discography and started with this album. My teenage brain exploded listening to these first tracks, and I was bonded with the band for the rest of my life. I keep DF deep in my heart! One thing I like to say is about their lyrics having something magical... The only thing people say is that it appears to be taken off some anime opening/ending... Yeah, they do (lol), but no one ever talks about their metaphors and the way they say things. I love it so much and never found any other band that did even similar. 😊
What do I think? Simply that this is infact the greatest song ever made. I know everyone thinks Through the Fire and Flames when people think of you guys, but this song specifically is a true masterpiece. There is absolutely nothing like it. Aside from the culture in our country leading to depreciate of quality music like this. Unfortunately as we all know, rap and hip hop and certain other music has taken over. But if that wasn't the case and if we could go back to when rock prevailed as the primary music our culture, this song would be hailed as greatest of all time. If this song was released in say, the 1980's your band would be in the same popularity realm as GNR, queen, the Beatles, bands that are in a league of their own that is impossible to recreate the magic. This song should be played in stadiums during sporting events. I love at least 80 percent of your music, new and old. But this song is one of the gems that escalate the definition of perfection. When you play you feel the energy like nothing else. My father, in his 80'$ before he past was a rock enthusiast, he loves one things more than his own kids and that a guitar solo, he lived and breathed guitar solos. When I shown him this song, he couldn't believe it, I've never seen him smile any harder and he referred to it as the greatest in the main song solo of all time. So guys, my dad was my best friend and everything to me. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for bonding me closer to him and having some of the most memorable times I've ever had. Your creativity truly made our life better and our connection stronger than ever. Thank you.
Fully agree! One of my all time favorite guitar passages. So melodic and emotive. Hearing this outro for the first time as a teenager always gave me goosebumps. So epic!
Discovered this so long ago, as I was waiting impatiently for the official album of the group whose demo I enjoyed very much, called Dragonheart. I still remember it clearly. It happened on a Black Winter Night, when Revelations were shown to me in the Black Fire, as my Heart was beating like the one of the Dragon, and Evening Star was spewing Starfire. Yes, it happened in Babylon and I immediately became its Disciple, invoking Apocalyptic Evil.
I still remember the good old time when this song was offered as a free mp3 on the official website. Of course it wasn't the remixed and remastered version back then. Actually, many bands offered a few free songs on their websites to give new people a taste of their music and stuff, but nowadays that's not necessary anymore because of RUclips, Spotify etc.
I remember discovering this song back when you called yourselves "Dragonheart". This is still one of my favorites. I see lots of comments about "being teenagers". I was 30 when I first heard this. I am 52 now and still love to listen to Dragonforce. I just checked my Winamp playlist and I still have this song listed as "Dragonheart" Talk about a throwback.
Valley of the Damned should be recognized as Dragonforce’s most legendary song. Fire and flames good, but this song is amazement and bliss. The ending instrumentals are fucking beautiful too.
This song sounded absolutely amazing live! I saw Dragonforce in Baltimore this past April and that show kicked so much ass!! Please come back soon, guys.
On the wings of life, by the hands of hope By the brightest light from the brightest sun Crossing silent seas, over mountains high To the valley of the damned! 🤘 Wow, what a banger!
At first, was the guitar solos and riffs, but each time I get that chilling feeling of the drums, the bass, and as always the voice with those fantastical lyrics, love your work so much, you guys!! 🤘🥰
I love how DragonForce makes Canon in D sound in this chorus. This is what I hear whenever I'm at a wedding and Pachelbel's version comes on. I grin, no one notices, and everybody wins.
This one is called the valley of the damned On a cold dark winter night, hidden by the stormy light A battle rages for the right for what will become In the valley of the damned a warrior with sword in hand Travels fast across the land for freedom he rides And the sign from the master on high screams aloud and across hear the cry For the kingdom of fire and ice and the power to be alive Be strong ride on, carry on through the war Come along carry on, living for ever more On the wings of death by the hands of doom By the darkest light from the darkest moon Crossing silent seas over mountains high For we stand as one tonight On the black wind forever we ride on together Destroying your evil with freedom our guide When the master will storm us He'll stand high before us Our hearts filled with splendour Our swords will shine over the light In the valley of the damned Days breaks with golden strand Over pastures green it glows To where night returns In the shadows faces appear Warriors wearing full metal gear All join together one and all Before the glorious light Rise up, gather around Come and hear what is said Use your senses open your mind Don't you ever forget On the wings of life, by the hands of hope By the brightest light from the brightest sun Crossing silent seas over mountains high To the valley of the damned On the black wind forever we ride on together Destroying your evil with freedom our guide When the master will storm us He'll stand high before us Our hearts filled with splendour Our swords will shine over the light On the black wind forever we ride on together Destroying your evil with freedom our guide When the master will storm us He'll stand high before us Our hearts filled with splendour Our swords will shine over the light The black wind forever we ride on together Destroying your evil with freedom our guide When the master will storm us He'll stand high before us Our hearts filled with splendour Our swords will shine over the light
This brings back all the memories.🥲 Damn!🥲 My friends were never as passionate as I was though. Had they support me, or pushed as hard on music as I did, we could have been touring now. But they went for higher studies, which is good actually. One of them pursuing PhD and the other preparing for exams. And I'm here, still giving guitar lessons and pursuing Masters in Indian music (Hindustani) doing few gigs if some singers hires me. 🥲 And all those songs composed back then, about 50 songs just lying in my head. DF and Firehouse were our good to bands when ever we gathered. 😊🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
I love the melody of this song..... I feel like this song also fits with an ace combat mission involving destroying ground targets on a valley before engaging an ace squadron.
I’m loving the tunes, @DragonForce! It’s nice to hear these bangers again in uncompressed high quality. I’ve been a fan since around 2007 and have since went through your entire discography. Rock on. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
This is honestly so great, because most of the VotD stuff on RUclips is just a bunch of crummy mp3 rips that sound like they're being played at the bottom of a well

I saw a few peoples comments on when they got into Dragonforce when they were in high school or middle school years ago so I thought on sharing my story. I discovered the band when I was maybe 9 when my brother played one of their songs in Guitar Hero. It wasn’t until towards the end of freshmen year of high school three years ago when I discovered this songs in a Yu-Gi-Oh! amv of Adrian vs Dark Jesse/Yubel and I instantly fell in love not only with the amv but also this song which is my favorite from the band and maybe my favorite song of all time. I would watch the amv every afternoon after school for the rest of freshman year. Sadly the amv got taken down on RUclips but I was able to find it on amv and I instantly downloaded it and it’s still sitting in my files today. However I didn’t listen to anymore of their songs at that time. It wasn’t until towards the end of my junior year last year and all the way through that summer and all of senior year when I started to listen to more of their songs and I think there was a total of maybe 15 songs that I kept listening to over and over again at that time. I also discovered their demo version of some of their songs which I really love as well. I still listen to those songs from time to time. This band is legendary and has made a lot of amazing songs. Seriously I don’t know who made and/or who put up the Yu-Gi-Oh! amv but who ever did thanks because if it wasn’t that one amv I probably wouldn’t have really got into this band and have it be one of escapes from reality.
@@AcesHighMedia Heart of a Dragon is great aswell yep. My personal alltime favorite song is "Where Dragons Rule", when i close my eyes while listening to it i can feel the battle around me and the flying Dragons ofc muhaha. :D

By the darkest light from the darkest moon." 2:58 "On the wings of life, by the hands of hope. By the brightest light from the brightest sun."
Guys you are fantastic musicians.Sure this album is a pure masterpiece from the beginning to the end...but..maybe I've heard this album so many time...I honestly prefer the 2003 version (don't throw me a guitar in the face please) it's maybe a bit rawer but (in my only opinion) more efficient! It could be great if you could realized a new album edition with all the versions including the 2003 ones. Sure I would go for it. This is one of the most amazing metal album I ever heard. I remember the first time I've heard "evening star",wow!! Thank you for all this work guys!
I used to play this game on PS2 called Phantasy Star, I was in this clan and I'd play this song whenever we were fighting a "raid" boss. That was 20 years ago and I still think about those guys when I listen to this song. Videogame Metal of the HIGHEST caliber.
We are re-releasing all our songs here on youtube in high quality uncompressed audio with lyrics. Let us know what you think of each songs. Thanks!

All of them are absolutely amazing. My favorite band ever
Used to blast this on my IPod back then . Brings back memories of skating and high school
Sounds amazing! This song is such a banger.
Can you upload the missing songs for the dvd in Japan too?
Would be great.
Thanks.
People might say Through the Fire and the Flames is the anthem of DragonForce, but I say Valley of the Damned is the true anthem.
I can't agree with you more! TTFAF blew my mind when I first heard it, but this song is arguably more representative of the band as a whole.
This. It's THE Dragonforce song

im torn between this and soldiers of the wasteland but agreed nonetheless lol
Got into DragonForce in high school 10 years ago. One of my favorite DragonForce songs back then, and still is today!

thats awesome. Same for me, but high school was 15 year ago!
I heard this when it came out in 2003, but it still blew me away even though I had already listened to a lot of power metal.
I also got I to them in high school... 20yrs ago lol
The change in the pre-chorus from "On the wings of death by the hands of doom, by the darkest light from the darkest moon" to "On the wings of life, by the hands of hope, by the brightest light from the brightest sun", is amazing.

But this 2010 remaster came out before ZP left the band, so it's still him singing this
@@GuitarHeroRocks99 We know. That's why we're reminiscing about what a good singer he was.
Agreed, Marc is fantastic, ZP has that voice that reminds me of childhood :)
It's a shame that his voice was as good live. If that weren't the case, the band might look different now.

This is an amazing cover of Gary George. I remember when Gary George first released Valley of the Damned in 1995, it was the song of the summer!

This one is called the valley of the damned
On a cold dark winter night, hidden by the stormy light
A battle rages for the right for what will become
In the valley of the damned a warrior with sword in hand
Travels fast across the land for freedom he rides
And the sign from the master on high screams aloud and across hear the cry
For the kingdom of fire and ice and the power to be alive
Be strong ride on, carry on through the war
Come along carry on, living for ever more
On the wings of death by the hands of doom
By the darkest light from the darkest moon
Crossing silent seas over mountains high
For we stand as one tonight
On the black wind forever we ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom our guide
When the master will storm us
He'll stand high before us
Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light
In the valley of the damned
Days breaks with golden strand
Over pastures green it glows
To where night returns
In the shadows faces appear
Warriors wearing full metal gear
All join together one and all
Before the glorious light
Rise up, gather around
Come and hear what is said
Use your senses open your mind
Don't you ever forget
On the wings of life, by the hands of hope
By the brightest light from the brightest sun
Crossing silent seas over mountains high
To the valley of the damned
On the black wind forever we ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom our guide
When the master will storm us
He'll stand high before us
Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light
On the black wind forever we ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom our guide
When the master will storm us
He'll stand high before us
Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light
The black wind forever we ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom our guide

first DF song I heard, back then this was power metal like you've never heard before! And it still is I think.
Great show in Mesa, AZ last night! Excellent support from Amaranthe and Edge of Paradise as well...
Thanks for coming!!
AKOLIBED YOU LEGEND
5:13 Best part of the masterpiece of a guitar solo by far
Guys you are fantastic musicians.Sure this album is a pure masterpiece from the beginning to the end...but..maybe I've heard this album so many time...I honestly prefer the 2003 version (don't throw me a guitar in the face please) it's maybe a bit rawer but (in my only opinion) more efficient! It could be great if you could realized a new album edition with all the versions including the 2003 ones. Sure I would go for it. This is one of the most amazing metal album I ever heard. I remember the first time I've heard "evening star",wow!! Thank you for all this work guys!
La mejor cancion de Dragonforce de lejos, por siempre!!
me gusta mas "soldiers of the wastelands" pero esta está muy bien
Dragonforce is their own best tribute band.
Love this one. One of my favorite song and I can't wait to see it live again in Sweden🤘😎🤘
My personal favorite DragonForce song. Would love to have this album on vinyl!
I used to play this game on PS2 called Phantasy Star, I was in this clan and I'd play this song whenever we were fighting a "raid" boss.
That was 20 years ago and I still think about those guys when I listen to this song.
Videogame Metal of the HIGHEST caliber.
Hey me, we're thinking about it again.
