Me, also an INFJ: ....... who am IIIII???? Can I condemn this man to slavery? Pretend I do not feel his agony?~ But no seriously, how do you know who you are on the inside? I feel like I have no idea.
Funny story...I am an INTJ and my wife is an INFJ. My wife recently took a picture of me relaxing at home. Later when she was scrolling through some old pics, she found a picture of me from 5 years ago wearing the exact same clothes ( not the same style, the exact same clothes)!!! I dress for work to look presentable, but when I get home I dress for comfort. Style and fashion doesn’t matter.
Home is sweats and old t's with holes. I literally have a long nightgown I wore while pregnant with my daughter..... She's 24, but I also have a closet full of clothes on mainly blacks, Grey's, with some purple, red, or blue accents.
Jose Cat lol! True, but not really. There is a slight nuance that differentiates between IN_J's slobbery from other types. You'd have to be one or live with one to understand.
lmao nearly the same situation happened to me. My friends and I were going through some old photos and we found one from 2017 and I was literally wearing the exact same outfit that I was wearing in the photo. Literally the only thing that was different was that I was wearing mismatched socks in 2017 and I was wearing black socks when we revisited the photo.
I love skulls ❤ its reminder of death and memento mori but ppl used to feel upset around me xD I also love T shirts with wolves portrait on them i dont know how but some ppl find it intimidating...
INTJ - I definitely put thought into my appearance but more for presenting a feeling (eg studious, carefree or classy) rather than wanting people to think I "look good". It is more to honor my own vision. I understand that there will always be people who don't like the way I look and that doesn't bother me but if I am not comfortable with the way I look that is a problem to be solved.
I agree with this to a heavy degree. I feel that appearance - to the INTJ - is generally focused on perception. They want to be percieved a particular way - usually archetypically.
@@TheThomasmbajjwe Thanks for the compliment! I wrote three books as a child (even did the illustrations for two of them) as part of the Young Writer's Society. Professional writers visited the school, we read our books to them, and they gave us feedback. My feedback was overwhelmingly positive and I was encouraged to continue. However, I was involved in so many different activities that I chose to let writing take a back seat. Sadly the books were all lost in a fire that happened when I was 15, so unfortunately I cannot share them with anyone. Perhaps I will write more in the future. It was fun for me. 🙂
I'm looking to solve this problem but am faced with a road block. My parents are very stoic about my appearance but I'm trying to develop a style for myself. Any suggestions for a 15 yr old male?
Very well put. An example from my life is when I was still in elementary school, I was going to give a presentation on a Poem about Wind, and before presenting, I had a strong urge to douse my hair with gel and shape it in such a way that it gave the appearance of being in a hurricane. Before the presentation, however, I became obsessive and felt that my peers would not understand the meaning my hair was trying to portray, so ultimately, I had to wash it out. - INFJ.
Younger me would have thought that was very intriguing. Adult me thinks that is very cute. Granted you infj types have always been like catnip to me:) - intj
INTJ here, this is very accurate. I have a personal style that has nothing to do with fashion trens, it's just what's right for me. Mostly formal with a teeny tiny quirky/goth/bold touch, but above all comfortable and practical. Zero makeup, very few but bold jevellery. I love to look formal and business like in both clothes types and colours, especially since I'm in an artistic field and want to show that I'm not an airy, head in the clouds type of person and I take no bullshit and respect myself. Also I'm heavily tattooed and the contrast doesn't let people label me too easily. I have pretty well developed Se and do enjoy to look good for looking good's sake, but also because if you look good in a visual arts environment it says something about your tastes. I started paying attention to this in my early twenties because I really tried for a while to dress girly and "like everyone else" to fit in and then noticed there was a huge gap between how people perceive me and how I really am that caused a lot of complications when they got to know me better. No, I won't dress differently to look more approachable, because I could wear nothing but pink florals and people would still find me intimidating when I open my mouth. Sure it's what's inside that matters, but the world is superficial and it won't go away if we pretend it's not. To me looks are all about achieving a "what you see is what you get" effect to communicate what I'm like from the get go and not waste time with misunderstandings from portraying a misleading image. Bonus points of the INTJ uniform: everything matches well with everything and it takes very little time to assemble an outfit. Efficiency ftw! 🤘
Give me some tips.cuz soon i also would be entering my 20s as I'm now 17 . I need tips about color as such Plz. I also would like to match my impression (as I have no idea how to do that)
@@andreeadobre3190is this an IN_J thing because I have black trousers it dark coloured clothes. I have a few colourful clothes for certain occasions and for family members not to feel bad. Literally I was told I look better and like somebody because of two coloured tops I bought.😂
INFJ here. Yes it's true. For me, whenever I want to "start a new page" in my life (ex: when I end/start a relationship or a new period in my life etc) I always tend to try to drastically change my appearance also , as in to say " This is a new ME you're seeing people!" Haha :)))
Same here...INFJ. If I'm at home, hanging with well known friends or just going to the store, super low key. However, if it's a job interview, date night, running a very important meeting or giving a presentation, I'm busting out the cologne, dress shirt, ironing everything and tying my tie to coordinate my outfit.
@@thiagomarques8552 "Maturity" is the wrong word for it since "Assertive" and "Turbulent" both have their own strengths and weaknesses. A lot of people, even if they like that fifth dimension, don't care too much for the use of the terms "Assertive" and "Turbulent" (since it's too subjective). Most people are assertive when they're in their element, but less so outside their element, whatever that element might be.
Good morning! As an INFJ I dress when I go out, as so everyone can see that I am comfortable, yet very girly and dressy, because I love to dress this way. I dress as if I were a princess...lol :) But when I am at home, I could care less how I look. Unless people are coming over HaHa! Good Video :) And very spot on!
@@jongalt26 Cotton. Almost all of my shirts, dresses and, skirts are cotton. I also have fuzzy soft scarves, blankets, Jersey sheets. I have 1 pair of jeans. Also Love silk n satin:)
YASSSS SAME That's why family members get angry because Im taking 10-20 minutes on the mirror just to buy from a store that is like 40 meterd away, and I hide from my friends when they come over and im not prepared haaha
So true-INFJ here. Some of my coworkers seeing me in street clothes (I work in a hospital so seeing a coworker out of scrubs is like seeing a cat in a Halloween costume) ask me who my stylist is. Lol. What I find hilarious is all my clothes are either discounted or vintage from “Sally Ann” stores. I have clothes that are 30 years old I still wear. I also love to throw on a strategically placed. piece of vintage costume jewelry. It’s all about presenting an elegant classic yet original look that says I am beautiful, different, creative, and that I care. Intentions are everything. So I always dress to impress and I never wear yoga pants in public-unless it’s 4 am at the 24 hour grocery-maybe once a year.
So true. I am a hair stylist and I dress down in the salon but when my clients see me out, they're shocked at my appearance from head to toe! May have thrifted my whole emsemble but you'd never know it.
I would love a job where I could wear scrubs every day, as an INFJ. No thinking and fussing required! I am so done with trying to impress people. Or maybe I just wish I were. But when I feel like it, I will dress in the eclectic manner you describe above. Elegant, classic, original. (But when I think I am "portraying" that, that's when I trip over a nonexistent bump in the floor!)
This video surprised me. I'm an INTJ female and was suspicious when you suggested my personality type cares a lot about their appearance, because in general I feel like I don't. Then, you started describing the differences between F and T and how we both focus on the message behind the clothing. And yeah, I wear t-shirts with video game or tv show/movie characters on them on purpose to display my interests, and I'm incredibly stubborn about wearing my mismatched, brightly colored socks. So, pretty much nailed it, lol.
@@sednafloating7027 do not tell an INTJ what they can and can not type. Simply being of the same personality type does not mean we follow the same interests or your made up "rules". Besides, if you want to criticize how people type, first make sure you're typing proper yourself, such as using capitalization as it was taught in grade school. lol on another note... Leafa, I agree with the whole tee-shirt advertisement of "I like this game", lol. Hoodies too... Bright socks ain't my thing, but I've got my own somewhat niche preferences outside the usual shirt & jeans.
@@LooneyTiksCrap You misinterpreted my comment. Here are the possibilities as to why: 1. it's late at night and your brain doesn't work properly. try again in the morning after you've had some coffee. 2. you are in the grip of your Fi, having extremely emotional and impulsive reactions. 3. you aren't the type you think you are.
Mm, not sure I recognize the correlation between “INTJ” and “lol” either, lol. :P But hoodies are definitely a thing of mine as well, Looney. How interesting that we can learn so much about ourselves and others, even down to our fashion choices, from just our personality type.
INFJ here, and this is so accurate! Although I do find getting ready fun, I usually just get ready for the fact that I want to show the best of me. I don’t like to go out in something I don’t feel is “good enough” for lack of a better word. I realized how I would even get ready for the simplest things like the store. However, once I get home, it’s oversized shirts with holes and leggings lol. Pretty different being in society and at home.
As an intj, i love taking care of myself because it gives me a huge strategic advantage. How i really want to dress is what i wear at home while how i think i should dress up is how i dress when I'm out and about. My intuition can literally feel how the way i look has an effect on people around me.
Thank you for that! I was told I couldn't be an INTJ, because I don't neglect my looks, don't live a minimalist lifestyle and actually care for outer appearances. Got to love the stereotypes.
As a child I didn't see the point of looking good for people. As a teenager I realised it's effect on others' opinions of me, and now I'm proud of how I look 😊
Spot on... even my environment, is a reflection. I want to create an environment that reflects my values and hopes for a guest to “ feel” my intention for relaxation and comfort. Also beauty of the world...INFJ. Details Matter....😏
INTJ here, and as I have studied a friend who is a graceful hostess, I have developed a strategy for my home that provides a very specific experience for those I invite into it.
I am an INFJ. I've always had the same taste/style in clothes and accessories, never any drastic changes. My style is feminine in a classic/casual/slighty bohemian at times. I do tend to experiment with hair dyes at times when I feel the need to try something new. I am not a lacey-frilly-ruffles and bows type of woman. I like wearing t shirts, jeans, yoga pants, poet shirts, peasant blouses, hippie dresses, gypsy skirts, corsets, and booty shorts (to lounge in).
@@33Jenesis I am not. Definitely INFJ. I first tested INTJ in 1997 but it didn't make sense in some I took 2 similar tests in the past 3 years and they are both INFJ. Makes the most sense of anything I've ever read on the subject in most ways.
As an INTJ female, I usually dress how I want and so I can make myself comfortable in the clothes I’m wearing. I usually dress casually-and sometimes I add a jewelry or two to my outfit. I can dress appropriately for events, the weather, restaurants, who I’m going to meet, Honestly, The way I care for my appearance is balanced… I often wear a tshirt and any comfortable pants since I don’t get out of the house much. But if I’m going to a cafe, then I’ll probably change my pants or tshirt.
You're absolutely right on the money. And I love your straight forward approach. For the most part I dress appropriately because I don't want to ruffle any feathers. (INFJ)
I'm freaking out about how accurate this is! Just like you have mentioned, when I have a presentation I get super caked up. However when I'm at home working I could care less of how i looked like.
I tend to my appearance as an INTJ to communicate power, sharpness, authority and aesthetic appeal. I recognise that these concepts being portrayed to people helps me to maneuver more easily in life. People tend to respect me more, move out of my way when walking and offer me discounts or even free things over the counter in stores. My looks do matter to me but it goes more deeply than simply just looking good
Honestly i couldn't agree more. I believe that dressing appropriately is crucial to earn respect from others. On daily basis (attending lectures etc), i dress simply (a pair of low black heels with comfortable blouse, trousers and neat hair) but somehow my outfit still gives off intimidating vibes that whenever i walk, people will clear a way and smile and refer to me as maam... 😂 I guess i dress for the older age(?)
Yeah I agree.. INFJ here, and I used to wonder why I used to fuss so much about how I look when I was about to give a presentation to the class, even though on the average, i dont really care how I look.. Thank you for the explanation..
INFJ here too.... I have even stressed out so badly over how I look (clothing wise) that I've cancelled plans many times over the years. At home, I only wear clothes that are nonrestrictive and comfy and couldn't care less about how I look. I used to think it was insecurity and my chameleon side trying to fit in with other people, but this video's explanation makes much more sense to me.
Wow...I've often felt the same way. Actually went home before a presentation to change my shirt because it didn't look the same with my tie when in the sunlight. Could really care less when I'm home or hanging with family & close friends.
I read once that people who find you beautiful find you more trustworthy. I had a narcissistic mother who treated me like every action I did was fake and “out to get her.” I never wanted to feel like others thought I was untrustworthy again, so I always dress up to look classy, confident and a calm leader. This is an interesting take ❤️
Yes looks are very important, I use it almost as a shell or mask though, it feels like t protects me from people trying to pry into the very complex self beneath. If I could literally go out with a mask I would haha. At home I’m a nudist. I have to be comfortable no matter what. I don’t wear large amounts of makeup, I just make sure I am clean and that I dress well and maybe even bohemian feminine. I resonate with everything you are saying. I am infj but I do feel connected to what you said about the stubbornness with the intj- for instance having to wear a uniform that is uncomfortable and bland and doesn’t give me comfort makes me almost irritated
As a female INTJ who's extremely successful for their age, I care about my appearance because: 1. It gets me exactly what I want; 2. People trust me more and a lot easier; 3. People approach me, which has lead to my very beautiful and useful networking connections. I've been offered publishcatiom opportunities because I care about my appearance. I have an ENTP shadow side, so lucky playing the social game makes being a one man show a lot easier.
This is soo true and accurate. As INTJ, I'm surrounded by girls who care so much about how good they look and what to wear and I also mind too but I noted our reasons are very different, for me, it's about my identity and meaning in my clothing. Especially when you said about making a presentation/speech and obsessing about what to wear is a very accurate example. But other days, I can even forget what I wore the previous days .
For sure. I like to dress for self expression, I think probably because I am reluctant to express myself to the general public in other ways. I definitely look for meaning in beauty.
Your channel is a wonderful source for me as an intj to learn a lot about myself, and understand my mind and behaviours... Thank you so much for your work!!
What does the "a" stand for? What are the other letters which can be attached to the cognitive types and what do they mean? Perhaps you can shoot me a link...
@@gabriellavictory3080 www.16personalities.com/ "A" stands for assertive. "T" stands for tubulent. To me, this is basically a way of describing how developed you are in your personality type...
@pinky cocoon Yeah, we get along and understand eachother on a multitude of different levels, which sometimes surprises both me and her! Interestingly enough, though, my type is usually said to be more compatible with ENFP, which I find kind of weird, but maybe there's something I'm missing... Don't know, but I'm really happy with my INFJ :)
@pinky cocoon I know! Idk where the hell this ENTP and INFJ compatibility madness comes from.. every ENTP I meet frustrates me (INFJ) but I adore the mind of INTJs
There's no such thing as an INTJ-A or INTJ-B, these were completely made up by the 16Personalities site - a once great resource that has since put out a subpar assessment that is inferior to the www.humanmetrics.com one.
INFJ here. I actually always wanted to express myself more through appearance and clothing but I tend to think more about what would be appropriate for the situation and what others might think. And I'm a little bit jealous at those who have Fi that they unapologetically show who they are through their style. 🤷🏼♀️ (at least those I know 😎) I did have some style shifting a couple of times and somewhat of a bit odd/unique way of dressing but most of the time it's kind of a normal style. 😂 as long as it's comfortable and clean I'm usually fine ^^
Yes ,so true .Everytime I (I am an INFJ) buy a new dress or choose a look for an event or just generally ,I only look in the mirror and ask "does this fit my mood and personality ,does this say "Me?"(and I happen to be very stubborn about the so called Exterior about myself & not others ,though) .My best friend who is an Esfp , is a complete opposite ,she looks at a person and comments how good or bad they look and she comments and makes herself the same way ,while I focus on how and what a person is showing .
When I shop for clothes I have a rule: I can only buy items that I LOVE. Not just “like”. Occasionally I am gripped by the urge to “round out” my wardrobe by buying several items that I feel it may be “lacking” (I don’t have enough skirts…I need to buy 3!!!). But I am constantly pruning my wardrobe to include only those pieces which for me, resonate most with my aesthetic.
infj here- my natural look, looks very soft and innocent. if I were to wear blouses and flowery clothing, I very much so look like I belong in a church. and I am not fond of that. I dont want to give that message off in a social setting. I wish I was more edgy looking. I often wear dark clothes. and have gotten my septum pierced. it's not necessarily that i want to be some edge lord lol, it's that being an infj means most my life has been filled with others coming to me and relying on me and using me as their therapist. it means people see me as some guide in their lives. and it can be tiresome to live this way for them. so I have to build a wardrobe that might make me a little less approachable, as to help me put up some self protection walls. a filter. I mean, plenty of people still come to me. and I'm okay with that truly. I've accepted my infj fate. but if I can lessen the dose of people, I shall. my clothes have meaning to me and have a message I want to send to others. thank you for making this video and explaining things so articulately. very well done. ☆
It’s kind of funny, I’m an INFP and can relate to all the aesthetic motivations you spoke of. It’s not always important though, some days I don’t put much thought into my appearance at all. I’m not very consistent in the reason for style choice, but I do follow a pattern of cycling through those reasons. Regardless, it’s rarely a cause of major stress and so usually enjoyable for whichever reason I happen to have from one day to the next.
Great explanation! Thank you. People knowing MBTI would never get why I dress the way I do as an INTJ. They thought it incoherent with the type. But I dress to show the world who I am. I will not dress in a sloppy, tacky or boring way. Because I am not sloppy, tacky or boring.
I've never heard this so well articulated before. As an INFJ-A, I find that this is spot on. Also, it caused me to reflect on the fact that at work (I'm a college professor), I dress sharply, while at home by myself I often dress down quite a bit. I'm a bit more mindful now as to why this might be the case.
@@AsuraPsych Anytime. I didn't wrote so much but i can confirm that I do not look at myself in a mirror to appreciate the clothes I wear, but on the other hand I look at all of my reflection when I'm outside on the shop windows for the meaning that i want to give off (a second) as you said.
I respect people with a natural sense of aesthetics. I have a basic grasp of it, but I always need to look to others/internet for fashion or home decor advice
I'm INTP and the way INTJ's relationship with aesthetics is explained in this video spoke a lot to me [especially the meaning behind the aesthetics part], to a certain extent. I love art and fashion to an extreme, but I think the difference is that the ''execution'' of let's say, a personal dress code, is lower in my priorities list than in an INTJ's list of priorities, for example. Many times I can't be bothered with the effort even though I love the idea [but when I do I get extreme pleasure from it]. And if anyone says I have to look a certain way because ''that's the way it is'' it almost sets a violent rebellious reaction on me and makes me want to do the exact opposite. I certainly can go out in public badly dressed if I don't have a clear motive for putting in the effort [this can be dangerous and it gets worse when I'm depressed] and many times I don't really care a lot about most people's opinions of how I look [except if they are people who interest me in some way], but sometimes I feel the stereotype of INTPs not having or caring about aesthetics and dress codes at all is a bit exaggerated. Not all INTPs are gross people wearing a t-shirt with ketchup stains, we are able to love beauty too :D
Since I am INTJ Enneagram 5w4 and also I am on Autistic spectrum, where one of the common traits is hightened sensitivity to various sensations, my way of dressing is kinda chaotic ( sometimes I just want to snuggle in something comfy even though I hate the way it looks). But most of the time yes, I care WAY more about how I want to look than how others like me to look and often it even sets me in some mood, for example when me and my INTP friend went to take photos of old cemetery we just had to put on something goth because it made the whole experience more interesting. Also....I seriously envy your t-shirt, it looks amazing.
Very well thought out and explained, thank you. The way you explained how/what motivates the different types was so clear and easy to follow. Exceptional!
INFJ here. I definitely dress down when I'm just at home. But when I'm outside whether for work or leisure, I always make it a point to look put together. Most people who know me always say I'm stylish. Fashion is something I love and I want people to see me as someone who is thoughtful in everything, even in the clothes she wears. This is a very articulate video. 👌
Vagren,I don’t think it’s necessarily an INFJ thing I think it’s more a Filipino thing being a Filipino INFJ myself here in America I noticed Filipinos are one of the most stylish ethnicity.
@neotheoneness9363 that made me think. I don't really know, before the Spaniards we had our own class system heavily based on neighboring countries in southeast Asia.

Hmm. I loved your insights, especially about NPs wanting to change their appearance to reflect their changing perspective (matching the outer with the inner, if you will). INTP here. I actually have worked at a clothing store and am known for dressing well, so for my type I am an anomaly I guess.
I have an INTP coworker who I could have sworn was INTJ by how nicely he dressed. After learning his type, he said he works hard on his appearance. Very spiffy INTP
I agree. I tend to want to dress appropriately for the occasion. But I'm not sure about the going out to eat part. Depends on what kind of restaurant it is, because I also to look the part but I also like being myself. If I don't need to dress in a particular way cause there's no risk of a social net loss or loss of any other kind, sweat pants just might be an option (but I don't ever wear sweatpants so maybe some other casual clothing). I guess the actual truth is I like dressing "appropriately" for how I *feel* toward the occasion/event (if I care about the it, if it's important etc)
I just wanted to point out that it's very common for INFPs to mistype as INFJ. I want to be clear that I'm not implying you are mistyped; I can't tell that from one comment. But your comment does speak to being in touch with a sense of strong Fi, staying true to what resonates with your feelings, values, preferences and identity. Of course INFJs have demonstrative Fi, so it can be a tricky distinction, but to anyone reading this comment, if you make such decisions in a similar way, by referring to your Fi, and can also relate to Ne/Si, I would seriously consider INFP as a possibility.
@@heatherbryant4197 He was mostly talking about INTJs though (himself) so not sure why you're comparing my possible mistyping mainly with INFJs. I think you mean I'm mistyped as INTJ? Doesn't seem likely though. And it might be a little tricky but you can probably on some level say intuition is feeling based. "Gut feeling" as it's sometimes called. This is why a lot of people say intjs are more "reason" based people than straight up "logic" based. So that's why I doubt I'm INTP or any other type. And just in case there's a misunderstanding, I don't mean I wish to express what I feel through my clothing. I mean wear what I wear based on what I feel/think about the event/occasion etc.
@@Scoring57 Sorry, I misread your comment or for some reason thought you were implying you were an INFJ. In light of your being an INTJ, that makes perfect sense now why I was picking up on more Fi than Fe from your comment. I still think it's a good point to make for any INFPs who think they are INFJs and happen to read this, but yeah, doesn't apply to you. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I usually don't make mistakes like that. I must have been half-asleep when I wrote that 😌
What you said about appearance is in my case so accurate it almost scares me! No one has EVER described this so well. I am an INTJ-T and your explanation ist 100% accurate and exactly how I feel! Now I’m at home in my pyjamas and couldn’t care less but yesterday I went to town and everyone looked at me, because I was very well dressed! I receive compliments on my clothing and appearance almost every day and many times (and especially) female co-workers are extremely jealous…which is not so good. Add the fact that I live in Switzerland and people here dress so badly, that is not difficult to stand out in the crowd. The most people here dress to work as if they’re still heading to the mountains with their backpacks…actually…they bring theirs backpacks to work instead of bringing a stylish bag or a beautiful leather computer-bag….for my senses, this is horrible… In Italy, near country, is very different…maybe Italy is full of INTJ’s hahahaha !Nonetheless I will not change the way I dress and accessorise so they can feel less bothered! Well, you really understand these personally types! I like your channel very much :-)
I am INFJ female and for me to look good it's very important I love to look good . I love to exercise and to year a good dress in every situation in my life .
Looking good gives you advantage, period. Sad how this world works, but good for people who know how it works, so we can work them to our advantage. It’s a form of manipulation if I’m being honest. In private, I do not care how I look, at all. It has zero use for me of how I look in private alone. Looking good takes time and it is an investment. - INTJ
Wow! I stumbled across your video, you are super intelligent! I can literally see your brain working and multitasking as you were explaining. I'm an INFP. I'm subscribing to your channel now. Looking forward viewing more of your videos. Have a great weekend!
Many of the points you made can also be associated with body language too, especially the messages part. Your shirt is awesome, just thought I would mention that and great content as always!!
I “will” look good in whatever I wear publicly. Usually I’m casual though, because I don’t care what people think about my impressing the outside world, but my body I do because that is representative of ME while not caring what they think. I am my best Appropriate for events that matter.
INFJ here I must say I dress myself even at home HAHAHAH LIKE MATCHING PJs and I also dress down if I go to the mall so that I could blend in but sometimes I wanna stand out It all depends on my mood lol
Yes! Meaning over external sensation. That's true. Even when watching movies, there is no need for us to be please, the movie must say something and educate us
Who else is just wearing the same 5 or so t-shirts and few sweatpants during Corona? I love it, so I can save money, as the good clothes for going out is not being worn out.
Spot on! Because it is summer (here in Barcelona), right now I'm using fresh clothes which is a functional end: short pants and a thin v-neck t-shirt, but the texture these have project modesty, and also the color combination: garnet red and olive green, are meant to communicate that moderation allows two different mindsets to coexist successfully. -INTJ.
This is a great video! It gave great insight as to why I goth out in public as often as I have to be in public for an extended period of time. I don't particularly feel anything while wearing this, but it sure works well as a sort of armor to help minimize social interaction. Thank you for the insight!
I have to laugh. INTJ. The last straw at one bank I worked at was when they were going to implement uniforms: bank shirt with khakis. I quit. There were other things I was unhappy about, but I was willing to suck it up. Until my individuality was going away. Plus the fact the bank was only providing one shirt at no cost... I'd have to buy at least two at $40 each... when I had a huge closet full of nice business clothes.
3 minutes in and I say you're right. My appearances do carry specific messages I wanted to disseminate. And each piece is picked carefully to be coherent. Each piece will get upgraded over time as my finance improves. I always know which piece is next to be replaced with what and yes they are prioritized by cost vs impact ratio. There's a grand plan for my wardrobe development.
In this area, being a female INTJ is hell. Girls are told that they must dress to look pretty. And in my adolescence, that was difficult because I didn't want to see myself like that, I just wanted something to wear something that would speak for me, that would point to my mind. I do not know how to explain it. But this is why I had many fights with my mother. So far I tend not to talk about clothes with other girls.
Yes very true. I am portraying my inner self and sending a message of who I am on the INSIDE to others via my clothing and apperance. I as assured and disti ctive no one I know dresses as I do where I live .I am more feminine than most women, wear flowing long feminine skirts or dresses alot of times in soft silky angelic like fabrics. I do have slacks and blazers but only wear them to doctors or other professional offices. I am retired so dont need to fit it anymore...I was a university professor and administrator so spent my life in suits...nevermore. Yes at home I dont wear makeup and wear simple caftans that are also feminine and comfortable. I have beautiful clothing I have collected like pieces of art.
Infj...I am very stubborn about my dress and I want to be comfortable above all else and I don’t give 2 craps what anyone thinks. And it is very important that I dress exactly how I feel in that moment if I don’t then I feel like I’m being fake.
I think you explain this very well. As a mostly INTJ (I'm autistic, so I don't fit the type exactly, but do have a lot in common with it when I'm in a comfortable or confident frame of mind), the clothes I own - for that matter almost everything I choose to own, not just clothes - were chosen because of what they mean to me personally. Every t-shirt that has a design on it has one that refers to something that is a favorite of mine or that reminds me of something I've done or a place I've been that I really liked. For example, I'd buy a Batman t-shirt but pass over a Punisher shirt in a store because I've been a long-time Batman fan but have never really cared for The Punisher's comics or movies at all. I prefer Batman's methodical, investigative, thoughtful way of defeating villains over The Punisher's brutal, overwrought way. I tend to think of The Punisher as being more of a villain than a hero. Someone Batman would try to capture and rehabilitate rather than team up with if they did a crossover story. I do sometimes think about needing to convey a specific message by how I'm dressed. For example, if I'm going with my wife to a Green Bay Packers football game or watching party, I'm going to wear my Green Bay Packers t-shirt or jersey, because that's my favorite team. I wouldn't wear my Indianapolis Colts jersey unless it was the Colts playing someone other than the Packers because that would convey the wrong message. I have a Colts jersey because it is of Adam Vinatieri, one of the all-time greatest kickers. I was a kicker in high school, so he was kinda my hero for that. But, I was already a die-hard Packers fan before he came on the scene and where I grew up, once you pick a team, you stick with them. Now, I don't care about fashion or what is trendy in the general population. If it became very unfashionable to wear football jerseys, even to games, I would still wear them because I'm more concerned with what I like and what has meaning to me than with what other people think. I wouldn't wear one to a job interview, unless it was one for working at a sports bar or athletic goods store, though because that would not convey the personal meaning I want the interviewer to see. I'd wear a good looking version of whatever the people who work for the company wear on a daily basis because I'd want to convey the message that I think that I should be part of their company, so I should look as though I already am. Speaking of meanings, I'm curious about what the meaning of Chris' shirt in this video is. It looks like we have the grim reaper about to claim a soul from this red-headed lady. It is an interesting shirt, but I wonder why he picked this shirt for this video. I rarely put myself in front of the camera when I make videos because looking into a camera is almost as unsettling for me as looking into someone's eyes face to face. On the rare occasions when I do, I usually choose clothes that don't have an designs on them because I don't want the viewer to get distracted by looking at the design.
Can you do a video on how the INTJ female makes a way in the workforce when the type is typically attributed to men. Also, what can an INTJ do once we realize the general workforce is not for us and we need to find a way to make a living that doesn’t require totally stifling who we are.
Very true! You are very perceptive. As INFJ, I don’t follow fads or fashions, but like to look like having the inside of mind reflect or express itself in my dress. It’s all about connecting to others, I want to connect with, without saying too much with my words. Therefore I dress like a High Elf in order to connect to others who also would like to, or resonates with that image.
I love when I don't have to go anywhere and therefore don't need to put effort into my appearance as usual. on the other hand, I have come to appreciate Halloween, where I can finally express a part of myself that people don't get to see. I'm aware that my Halloween looks can come off a certain way, but to me, it's just having fun, being creative, and feeling confident
This is very true. As an INFJ, there are days when I neglect my appearance if I am just staying at home, and sometimes to the extreme depending on what project I am engrossed in. However, if I will be seeing someone, I am extremely thoughtful about my appearance; not just choosing items that fit the particular outing, but items that the other person would like on me. In HS, I wore things that highlighted my lack of care for the current trends. I purposely stood out, not to stand out, if that makes sense. This was quite an insightful video. Thank you for sharing.
Hi, I'm an INTJ and throughout my many decades as an adult, I've been very conscientious as to how I present myself to the world, via my fashion choices. I have a degree in design and this is evident when picking and choosing my outfits AND decorating my home. When it comes to dressing, I want to be appropo for the occasion as well as the personna I want to project. That changes daily. Glamorous, Boho, Sporty, Country...? My choices reflect my mood and my plans for the day. I'm a bit of a chameleon that way. Packing for trips is anxiety producing. Who knows what "mood" or "vibe" I'll want to project? So, I over pack. Maybe I have MPD when it comes to dressing? I rather envy the simplicity of those gals who rely on their jeans and blouse uniform. But, bottom line, our clothing speaks volumes about who we are and we SHOULD care about the message we project when we go out into the world.
What a great presentation. So articulate. I am INFJ. After this video I better understand my relationship with my appearance. It's very important to me and I am very intentional about it. On the other hand I think appearance is superficial. It is but it's not. The INFJ conundrum.
I'm a 64 year old INTJ. I have always had an individualistic view to my dress. When I'm at home I am a slob. For work (I don't work with the public) I dress smart but with something a bit different (i.e. a hat or flowers in my hair). When I dress to go out, I really let my imagination run riot. I have a gothic tendency (films, books) so my clothes tend to have a gothic theme. But even here it has to be imaginative and not traditional. When I was young I used to make my own clothes so I could use a basic pattern and then change it. If people notice me I want it to be for my individuality.
I just love MBTI, its so precise and it gives me reassurance on what in doing. People don't know how imoortant appearances are in this world!! Im sorry ro break it to you, appearance matters
Also we like to look good because Ni captures the aesthetics and vibes of things, and the things you said as well obviously. And inferior Se likes to create beauty and is sensitive to it ( and to other kinds of sensory experiences)
Great content, man. Absolutely correct. I place a *huge* value on Se/aesthetics, both in a selfish/personal/experiential way, and in an extroverted way. Specific to fashion/clothing, it's, in large part, due to the messaging/meaning. It's almost like I want to show off my sophistication about aesthetics, and demonstrate its value to me, in an extroverted manner. The messaging would be, "I have a sophisticated handle on this, and it's unacceptable that people should not know it." -INTJ
As an INFJ, my clothing is how I best express myself and creativity. I try to make myself a work of walking, talking, palatable art 😏 lol....and I almost never repeat an outfit. I can't keep the same hairstyle either. It's like I'm a different woman at every turn, lol......in a lot of ways, I am tho🤷
i love the way you described everything. as an INFJ, i have somewhat of a variety with the way i dress, it just depends upon who im with, why im with them, and what we are doing. i do always try to dress comfortably/relaxed so that people might understand that they can talk to me. the only example i can find that might have different logic is when i attend school. i have very little time to do everything i need/want to do as i attend school regularly, so i tend to neglect some of my personal needs like hygiene and stuff. i do find myself obsessing and becoming very self-conscious at school 24/7, though. when i make plans to go out to do something other than school- even if i am still as busy as i usually am- i do put a lot more effort into my appearance, making sure im showered and well-dressed. to me, school is not considered a special occasion like going out would usually be, so i get very tired of dressing for it all the time. maybe this is all because i have a hard time putting all my effort into every little thing all the time, so i neglect what i find is the least important/most exhausting. going to school 5 days a week and trying to look presentable for every single day i leave the house can take a lot of time overall, especially since my hair is so high-maintenance. also, i feel attending school is extremely important- my brain is wired to understand that going to school is my only option- so i technically feel as though school is not a choice, and im not the one who makes the plans of going to school every day.
This is very true. As an INTJ, I see exercise, beyond the health reasons, grooming and dressing a particular way as a tool to exert control over others perceptions of you. I've analyzed the aesthetics and meaning behind clothing and appearance and how others form conclusions about the individual (even if most do it subconsciously). There is a minimum attire for each occasion or venue and I would be uncomfortable, in like morally wrong way, that I wasn't up to my standards. I also judge others who let's say wear sweatpants/shirts to restaurants or who under dress for job interviews. A good example is I was once grooming my facial hair to like perfection, at least to me, and a friend of mine said it doesn't really matter no one will really notice that little difference. Still I continued because it was more of a way for me to exert that control on my outward appearance and perception and also to remove as many negative points about me. There is a confidence and security in knowing that you look how you want to look and it was all intentional, you made the plan and followed through.
I was recently an INTJ, until I slowly morphed into an INFJ. As far as "appearances" go, one should avoid the spiritual explanations and adopt the psychological descriptions of The Self, and how its parts interact to produce the individual for interpersonal interaction. I'm not the type to conform to a social scripts. I personally find that understanding your "emotional intelligence" is more important that the unique traits of the various personality types.
Colin Silver you don’t slowly morph into a new type. Cognitive functions don’t work like that. Perhaps you are maturing or going through something that would make you think you were another type? Don’t trust the online tests, but rather read about the functions and how they work, figure out your dominant one, and you will be able to determine what your type is.
INFJ here. You should seriously see my work wardrobe. Just nothing but high end, nice designer brand dresses. And then the handbags. !! O.o Same deal. I've gotten comments about it all for years. I wouldn't work in a job that required dressing down if I could help it.....UNLESS it was a job with a LOT of meaning/value, something that's genuinely affecting positive change in the world. But so long as I find myself working at some regular meaningless job (which creates a lot of internal strife/unhappiness) then at least have the awesome wardrobe/look. A meaningless job, coupled with the requirement to dress down/sloppy? That's a nightmare for me. Which is why I work as a "front desk coordinator/receptionist - the face and voice of the company." Presentation is everything. And when it comes to my off time, I don't do the "going out in public looking sloppy" thing even if dressed casual. Not even to run to the grocery store. Should always still look put together/nice. My boyfriend is INTJ. And while he may look like he's dressed casually, trust me......a LOT of thought has gone into his well groomed, never sloppy look. :D He's very particular about his hair, his shirts, jeans and shoes. I never have to ever worry about "how he looks" when we're going out someplace.
I enjoy listening to you. Everything very much to the point :D and yet full of interesting insights. Some of the INFJ youtubers ramble unbearably ^^ . Even though I am an INFJ, too, I much prefer your style :D !!!
As an INFJ, meaning is everything. My appearance is indeed crafted to reflect who I am on the inside. It's a statement; this is who I am.
Me, also an INFJ: ....... who am IIIII???? Can I condemn this man to slavery? Pretend I do not feel his agony?~
But no seriously, how do you know who you are on the inside? I feel like I have no idea.

Funny story...I am an INTJ and my wife is an INFJ. My wife recently took a picture of me relaxing at home. Later when she was scrolling through some old pics, she found a picture of me from 5 years ago wearing the exact same clothes ( not the same style, the exact same clothes)!!! I dress for work to look presentable, but when I get home I dress for comfort. Style and fashion doesn’t matter.
INFJ and same here
Home is sweats and old t's with holes. I literally have a long nightgown I wore while pregnant with my daughter..... She's 24, but I also have a closet full of clothes on mainly blacks, Grey's, with some purple, red, or blue accents.
Everyone does that it's not a personality type exclusive lmao what the fuck
Jose Cat lol! True, but not really. There is a slight nuance that differentiates between IN_J's slobbery from other types. You'd have to be one or live with one to understand.
lmao nearly the same situation happened to me. My friends and I were going through some old photos and we found one from 2017 and I was literally wearing the exact same outfit that I was wearing in the photo. Literally the only thing that was different was that I was wearing mismatched socks in 2017 and I was wearing black socks when we revisited the photo.

I LOVE how you are speaking fast and directly, without wasting time!
Helena Oborníková this!
I think it has to do with being INFJ...I speak same way...
Gloria Momoh I'm INTJ, and I speak that way too 🌝
Both INTJs and INFJs tend to speak quickly.
Heheh I had the same thought!! Yes. I don"t like 30 minute video that could be done just as well in 10 minutes.
I have my 'inside' and 'outside' clothes, INFJ here. This video speaks the truth.
INFJ here and I'm right there with ya!
Same as an INTJ
I love INFJs.

Couldn’t agree more...
I agree with this to a heavy degree. I feel that appearance - to the INTJ - is generally focused on perception. They want to be percieved a particular way - usually archetypically.
Excellently put! I am curious, do you write? If so, I'd be happy to read anything you've written!
- INFJ.
what if you had a large fan blowing on you instead?
😂 Oh awww
Fyi, my middle school self would have thought that very clever.
Younger me would have thought that was very intriguing. Adult me thinks that is very cute. Granted you infj types have always been like catnip to me:)

I feel that we put on the uniform of what we are portraying. Just like the chameleon. Different occasion, different uniform.
Definitely. Fairly strategic.
I also would like to match my impression (as I have no idea how to do that)
I mostly wear black, not sure I can help much 😅 But look into colour theory, I'm sure it can help you a lot with how to match things
@@andreeadobre3190 got it.will do thx
@@andreeadobre3190is this an IN_J thing because I have black trousers it dark coloured clothes. I have a few colourful clothes for certain occasions and for family members not to feel bad. Literally I was told I look better and like somebody because of two coloured tops I bought.😂
INFJ here.
Yes it's true.
For me, whenever I want to "start a new page" in my life (ex: when I end/start a relationship or a new period in my life etc) I always tend to try to drastically change my appearance also , as in to say " This is a new ME you're seeing people!" Haha :)))
Senduku me Perla Me too. INTJ.
If necessity is the mother of invention, there are also many mothers of reinvention.
Exactly! Going through that right now -INFJ
So true. I do that too. Great point.
As an INTJ-T, I prefer a “comfortable to be look” casual outfit, rather than hypebeast vibes outfit.
Im a intj-a, what is the difference?
@@intj_5398 none. The fifth letter was made up by 16 personalities to measure maturity. Nothing to do with the real MBTI, ignore it.
One can develop how assertive or turbulent they are in life, however, you can't really change your personality type. At least, not in a healthy way...
I don't know what hypebeast vibes is, but "comfortable to be" sounds a lot nicer to me.
Good morning!
As an INFJ I dress when I go out, as so everyone can see that I am comfortable, yet very girly and dressy, because I love to dress this way. I dress as if I were a princess...lol :)
But when I am at home, I could care less how I look. Unless people are coming over HaHa!

So, pretty much nailed it, lol.
you can't put "INTJ" (with capital letters) and "lol" in the same paragraph.
@@sednafloating7027 do not tell an INTJ what they can and can not type. Simply being of the same personality type does not mean we follow the same interests or your made up "rules". Besides, if you want to criticize how people type, first make sure you're typing proper yourself, such as using capitalization as it was taught in grade school. lol
on another note...
Mm, not sure I recognize the correlation between “INTJ” and “lol” either, lol. :P But hoodies are definitely a thing of mine as well, Looney. How interesting that we can learn so much about ourselves and others, even down to our fashion choices, from just our personality type.
I understand. You sounded more like an infj 😂
Look at some of the other judgmental comments on here - someone was suggesting an INTJ was not an INTJ because they typed lol in their comment.

Brittany Page Would you say your ideal Master/Husband is an ENTP type?
I really appreciate that, thanks for watching and supporting!
Carly Simon wrote a song about me. "You're So Vain".
INFJ
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was just busy explaining this INTJ/INFJ similarity to my INFJ girlfriend🤣
(INTJ-A here)
What does the "a" stand for? What are the other letters which can be attached to the cognitive types and what do they mean? Perhaps you can shoot me a link...
@@gabriellavictory3080 www.16personalities.com/
"A" stands for assertive.
🤷🏼♀️ (at least those I know 😎)
I did have some style shifting a couple of times and somewhat of a bit odd/unique way of dressing but most of the time it's kind of a normal style.
But I am constantly pruning my wardrobe to include only those pieces which for me, resonate most with my aesthetic.
infj here-
my natural look, looks very soft and innocent. if I were to wear blouses and flowery clothing, I very much so look like I belong in a church. and I am not fond of that.
As an INFJ, I mainly do it to prove to myself how far I've come mental health wise, it's also kinda fun to dress cute
I dont dress to impress others , never has , never will..
Me either
totally correct (intj-t).
Appreciate it, thanks for watching!
INTJ here. you’re really right about that.
INTJ here. Spot on. Love how you (like me) abstract the eyes away into the internal world often too! :)
I can very much relate to this as an INFJ.. Very well said. Namaste! 😁
@@neotheoneness9363 that can be, I think it's also in our culture as Filipinos to always be looking good wherever we are.
@@Vagren this is off topic but have you ever wondered what our country was called (true name) before the Spaniards came?
@neotheoneness9363 that made me think. I don't really know, before the Spaniards we had our own class system heavily based on neighboring countries in southeast Asia.
@@Vagren are you aware that the Tagalog language stems from the Ancient Hebrew,in fact more than one thousand words are in Hebrew and most of our mountains if not all have Hebrew names.
Bc of you I found so many things that I thought only I do or everyone does and itopened my eyes. I'm 80% sure I am an INTJ.
I just don't want to get negative attention for not being groomed. I have a dress code that helps me be comfortable among people
@@heatherbryant4197
He was mostly talking about INTJs though (himself) so not sure why you're comparing my possible mistyping mainly with INFJs.
I must have been half-asleep when I wrote that 😌
@@heatherbryant4197
It's cool. At least it's resolved and that's always what you want
I'm an INFJ and I don't care about how I look at all. In fact I would still walk around looking like a homeless person even if I won the lottery.
I am my best Appropriate for events that matter.
that was one of the most articulate and insightful video about types. Well done!
INFJ here
I must say I dress myself even at home HAHAHAH LIKE MATCHING PJs and I also dress down if I go to the mall so that I could blend in but sometimes I wanna stand out
It all depends on my mood lol
Very well done and insightful. You were absolutely right! -INFJ
Applause! This is why I trust this channel.
Yep. I was the only kid in my 8th grade class to dress up as a Texan for a state's project.
Can you do a video on how the INTJ female makes a way in the workforce when the type is typically attributed to men.
Also, what can an INTJ do once we realize the general workforce is not for us and we need to find a way to make a living that doesn’t require totally stifling who we are.
BlairWaldorf2013 Have u ever thought about bookkeeping or acounting?
@Krys Bell Nice
Yes, can totally resonate with that, as an INFJ. Thanks Asura!
It blows my mind to find out that not everyone dresses to impress. That's the only reason I shower most days. I've got no need to impress myself.
I'm the other way around. I dress for myself mostly - INTP.
My ISTP friend dresses as if he's homeless, while i dress more posh and authoritative. Quite an interesting sight i imagine.
Same.
What a great presentation. So articulate. I am INFJ. After this video I better understand my relationship with my appearance. It's very important to me and I am very intentional about it. On the other hand I think appearance is superficial. It is but it's not. The INFJ conundrum.
One of the best mbti channels on RUclips. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and knowledge!
I find it very grounding & calming to listen to your type talks, AsuraPsych. Thank you for your insights❤️
Asura so true!! It's not d appearance but d MESSAGE !!!!!
Kudos Man!!!👍
And d painting part is too spot on!😅
Appreciate the support, thanks for watching!
i love the way you described everything. as an INFJ, i have somewhat of a variety with the way i dress, it just depends upon who im with, why im with them, and what we are doing. i do always try to dress comfortably/relaxed so that people might understand that they can talk to me.
the only example i can find that might have different logic is when i attend school. i have very little time to do everything i need/want to do as i attend school regularly, so i tend to neglect some of my personal needs like hygiene and stuff. i do find myself obsessing and becoming very self-conscious at school 24/7, though.
when i make plans to go out to do something other than school- even if i am still as busy as i usually am- i do put a lot more effort into my appearance, making sure im showered and well-dressed. to me, school is not considered a special occasion like going out would usually be, so i get very tired of dressing for it all the time.
maybe this is all because i have a hard time putting all my effort into every little thing all the time, so i neglect what i find is the least important/most exhausting. going to school 5 days a week and trying to look presentable for every single day i leave the house can take a lot of time overall, especially since my hair is so high-maintenance. also, i feel attending school is extremely important- my brain is wired to understand that going to school is my only option- so i technically feel as though school is not a choice, and im not the one who makes the plans of going to school every day.
