FYI, the silicone will eat the silvering off the back of a mirror long term. I recommend using liquid nail. Silicone is fine for the face of the mirror, just not the backside. Love the woodworking!
I am 63 years old, got up early sweating about what and how I am going repair and update my 88 year old mother's home and then ran across one of your videos and now have been glued to your site. I see most of my day is planned out, a date with you and your family and your amazing videos. You have given me so many fabulous ideas that are exactly that have been rolling around in my head for months. Thank you so much for all of the details you have shared. It has been so encouraging. Now off to another video.
Hi - excellent work there. I am making a similar project using Yew - 6' long. My concern is the wood moving over time and the stress on the glass. Are you confident the silicone will allow for that movement without cracking the mirror ?
So good question. First of all I wouldn't recommend using a wood that is likely going to move, especially mixing it with glass/ mirror. I used a kiln dried maple which sealed correctly and used in a dry environment shouldn't have much movement. That said I used silicone instead of a construction adhesive or clips to allow for minor movement. off the top of my knowledge silicone is the most flexible adhesive on the market. I know Home Depot and probably other big box stores have come out with a specific mirror silicone which in the future I would likely use. I hope this helps. Also be careful of Yew Wood as the sawdust can be poisonous.
Thanks so much for this. I'm literally about to start the exact same build with tamboti live edge. The only thing that worries me is that silicon holding it up long term. Obviously hung horizontally its not much of an issue. But if I wanted it to hang vertically would the silicon be enough to hold it?
Since making this video ive found out you can buy a mirror adhesive/sealent. The silicone in this video is still holding strong but if you're concerned I would check that out.
Yea boiled linseed should work though I have never used it. Odies and osmo oil are the only brands I use. I know they both ship worldwide but I imagine it comes with a price tag.
Oh, I'm not a prude but I really don't understand the opening shot of you pulling your pants ... I thought you were in the bathroom! It's not funny and detracts from a nice video.

excellent job but how to hang on the wall safely?
Wonderfull craftsmanship. I really like the detail you put into in this video, are you short on cutting boards ?
Nice job mate. How did you fix and secure it to the wall?
How big of a mirror did you use 60" by what?
Wow cost IT,could You tell me?
Thanks for sharing. Would like to know what i can use instead of Odie's oil. Can boiled linseed oil do the job?I'm in Zambia btw.

@@RadDadBuilds Thanks for your response.

Great Work :) !
Bushmaster B Thanks dude

Бро, хорошая работа)
Love this video ... Really dislike the fake, synthesized, repetitive background music! Thanks a bunch anyway!
I knew I should have gone with death metal. At least now I now for next time. Thanks 🤙
The frame is hold by a mirror. if the mirror breaks = break the frame
I do it a different way.
It’s been like it for 4+ years. I think it’s fine
DIY? Not so sure. Looks great though.

Sorry Wanda, it won’t happen again.
You are funny rad dad and thanks for your reply! You won't be getting lumps of coal at Xmas after all!
Wanda Kowalski 😅 I have to keep it light as I get a lot of comments that are genuinely mean. I appreciate your kind words though. 🤙🤙
