  • Today I shall be talking about the Battle of Bamber Bridge, which took place in Lancashire, England. No it’s not a battle from the Wars of the Roses, or the English Civil War.
This battle took place in 1943 during the Second World War.
And before you ask, the Germans weren’t involved! This battle took place between black and white G.I.s.
Shoutout to my Dad for this episode, he worked hard on the script and research. This episode i purely provided the voice over!

I like it how you are willing to tackle " of the beaten track" subjects , that other historians are unwilling ( or unable ) to tackle or highlight

That’s what we aim to do David! A story for the most part, many people may not of heard, but one of incredible interest!

I'd heard stories of how happy " Afro-American" service personnel were to be treated as equals by the Brits , and that those who survived the European theatre of WW2 had quite a culture shock when they returned stateside , but as this "story" shows , even in bases in England ( little America's) , there was discrimination @@afewminutesofhistory

I watched a very interesting video which interviewed some black GI’s, they said that the UK was a wonderful fresh start for them all.

Pretty mad to think that only 80 years ago some English people had never seen black people. How things have changed.

That was so interesting. The niche stories that no one else seems to cover are so interesting. They all go to make up the full and rich tapestry of history. It's ok covering battles, generals, and kings, but it's the small, everyday stuff that is just as interesting. I personally had never heard of this. Where did you dig it up? Thank you.
