Guys stop comparing this spread to Amanda's. It's not the same lmao how many different ways can you draw a lantern and during this time of year it's not a surprise for people to want to make lunar new year themed spreads.
Yea they look similar but only that red lanterns !!!
If look carefully for all the detail of the drawing and the layout, they are all different !
Thank you for sharing. I just started bullet journaling and Chinese New Year was also a theme I have chosen for February, but adding the picture of a pig since is is the zodiac animal for 2019. I think you can probably post an overview of what you did for January's spread. Most of us here are looking for inspirations. Happy New Year.
That's sounds so exciting! I was actually born the year of the pig, so this year was super duper special for me (hence why I wanted to do a Lunar New Year theme!). Please do show me your spread if you ever get a chance to :)
Lmao, Lanterns aren’t anything new you guys. It’s legit an Asian cultural thing and just because this year, it’s getting used a lot for a spread - doesn’t mean every creator is copying from another.
Nothing is “new” fully anymore. The only new thing is execution. This style of lantern is different from other styles. Everyone takes inspiration from each other, culture, and environment.
Please stop commenting about Amanda. I love and enjoy her content too but it’s not okay to just criticize others that post or do similar or the same ideas. I think it’s better to just comment a compliment instead of comparisons.
I really don't care if you're late with a Plan With Me. I still watch them all, because I could use the inspiration for other things and not only my bullet journal. :)

don't mind comments that say your set ups are hard to recreate. i appreciate that you make something "challenging". I also like that though your current theme isn't something new, you executed it really nicely. love the sidebar on your weekly spread.

Two things:
1. If you do your designs on a separate page, then glue it in after it dries you won’t lose page real estate & still get to enjoy the markers.
2. Please still post since I look at “Plan With Me”s by month not year. It may be a year, but I would look at it next Jan and wouldn’t care when you posted it.
BuJo Pw/Me vids are good inspiration for non-BuJo Projects that are month-based as well. :)

Inspiration for January can be used in March or November or for those who just haven't found the inspiration yet and yours would be the one to inspire them.

i think you should’ve posted the january spread even if it was late! i could’ve used it for inspo for a later month! also, i think when Andie uses the gold leaf, she waited for the glue to be dry before brushing the excess away, that way you don’t have to be reglueing it
I mean, I'm just setting up my 2020 journal in the middle of February so your video being a week late is perfectly fine 🤣❤️
Oh god, those markers... :o Such heavy bleed through would be a dealbreaker for me, personally - I would find it very wasteful to lose two extra pages, especially that I'm already running out of space in my current journal. That said, the designs are gorgeous, you drawings are very good and the shades are indeed really nice. Thanks for the great idea about the gold foil - it made me realize that I have a roll of gold tape lying around (it was actually supposed to be "nail polish" but it's a huge fail, lol), I'll play around with it to see if I can get the same effect. I liked those "messy" corners very much! And re: January video: YES, PLEASE! :) I would defo love to see it and they are never too late - hell, I'm watching 2017 videos just because I like the design so much. I often return to some of them to get a refresher of some idea that I really liked. It's also my fave thing to do while I have my morning coffee :)
yea the markers did bleed very heavily through. I haven't decided on whether or not I will continue using them in my journal. I might try to switch to color pencils, it's not as vibrant but definitely doesn't bleed through LOL.

@@PaperuStudio there's a crayon video from.....uh...I think her name is Echo Gillette ? she teaches you how to use crayons and get them to look super vibrant! Maybe you can try that technique? Since you're experimenting ;)
Lovely spread. Always post your plan with me's even if they are late. They will still be watched. I still watch some from 2016 as I'm sure many of us watch them from ages ago and from any month :) some of us just like watching them even if we aren't looking for inspiration. X

Since you didnt post the January spread but did mention it, you could've/should've done a *flip thru* to show it -- don't need to explain it, etc, just do a quick flip thru before showing the February flip thru (to end the video).
I really like that video planning Dutch door set-up, I hope you incorporate it thru-out the year 🎉

People are comparing you to Amanda . Will I just got to say. It probally was a coincidence that you guys end up both doing a lunar new year lantern theme . Beside the theme being the same nothing else was the same so there is no saying who coppyed who . You can't say someone's copying someone just because the same theme was used.. If so tons of people out there are copying other people's idea and work of art. Some time it's too hard to say what is orginal anymore ...
I feel like I'm the one copying u guys since I took inspiration from you and Amanda to create my January spread this year.
I think its totally fine if you were to post a monthly plan with me late. There's no reason we can't use the theme for another month! Even with a special theme like this one. If it were late, people could still use the lanterns in a different month just for the aesthetic. But in the end it is your choice. Just know you're doing great and we all look forward to seeing more of your work! :)
I think that it doesn't matter if a video comes out "late". There is always next month if you want to recreate it and I look for ideas all the time and aren't month specific. I would still want to see January.
You said that you don't want to post a plan with me video when the month that you made it for has already pass . Well here I am in 2020 watching this video and creating a spread similar to this.. so its never too late ...

I love seeing everyone's unique take on how to use dutch doors. I did see that from Amanda way back in the day and that revolutionized my journal. My mind was blown! And I love ItsmeAndie and all the new techniques she's bringing to BuJo'ing. I also thought about playing around with gold leaf soon!
I learned the dutch door a few months ago and I am loving it! It really has changed the bullet journalling game haha.

I would still pot January. I look for all months and past years for inspiration for my spreads
There's probably going to be a lot of red lantern themes for February. I was actually confused when I saw Amanda pulled the lantern theme for January instead of February. Chinese New Year actually starts in February. Red is eye catching and they both used lanterns. Other than that, I see nothing else the same. They're both really beautiful spreads either way.
I never borrow a theme from someone the same month it is posted. I just like to see what makes other people tick. I’m always watching videos from months and years ago. Post older set ups at any time.

I’d love to see January, I constantly look back to old videos when I am planning my journals so even if it’s late it is still a setup that people can look to for inspiration, regardless of when the video was uploaded.

Yes please share your January. Sometimes I like using plan with me from other months for a certain month. For examples there's a lot of flowers and plant based plan with me in February, but I feel it would be better in March/April for me (it's -30 degree C outside right now lol).

How long does it take to plan and sketch your layouts?
C. Powell it depends. Since I do all the sketching off camera, I usually don't do it all in one sitting. I start it one day, and gradually work on it over the next few days! ☺️☺️

Christine Nann it doesn't! I usually use mildliners and tombow brush pens and they tend to work very well with this notebook
You have to use less glue for the gold leaf. And you have to let it dry properly before using the brush.

This theme is gorgeous! I am someone who prepares the whole journal a year in advance so I can already write everything I need to remember down the moment I know. It's more convenient for me this way, but the sad part is that I see all these videos and think :"That theme would've been very nice, but I've already set up my journal..."
Btw I'm Chinese too and I also went to Chinese school on Saturday's when I was a kid :D

@@PaperuStudio I did it because I got my new journal in summer and my old one lasted until the end of 2018, so I said to myself to stop procrastinating and journal every minute I have. This way I managed to finish everything up until summer break and every calendar of 2019. It also really helped me to not procrastinate😄

I've seen two bujo'ers do floral themes they must be copying each other :| her spreads are completely different and Lunar New Year's main symbol is hanging red lanterns. So I'm sorry everyone thinks you're copying *face palm* Your front page looks nothing like hers other than they both have some red lanterns. if you'd both done heart themes would that be copying as well? smh. Love this and your classy way to handling the accusations you somehow copied Amanda. I'm a new subscriber :)

thank you for that! I can understand why people think I am "copying"; but its the Lunar New Year holiday and it's a big holiday for me. Valentine's Day lasts one day, but the Lunar New Year lasts 14 days. I wanted to show my proudness for my culture by doing a Lunar New Year theme, completely unaware that I would get so much backlash for "copying" Amanda. I love and support Amanda so much and love all the content she creates, so if I were to ever even recreate her work I would definitely credit her.

this theme is very similar to AmandaRachLee january I think you should mentioned it . I also don't care if you are late it is always good to see and maybe inspire for next months.
Amanda is THE bullet journal queen and I watch her videos all the time. I do see the similarities of this theme vs. her January theme but it is actually just pure coincidence. I film my plan with me videos way ahead of time and think of themes even before the prior month starts because it takes me a very long time to edit.

So... I am the only one who's wondering why there's a dog at that cover page when 2019 it's actually the year of the PIG?
hahaha the dog on the cover page is my beloved Churro and I created him just in time to celebrate Lunar New Year. I want him to be a permanent part of me and my shop and that's why he's there. In the sticker pack I made with Churro, there is actually one where he is wearing a pig costume to celebrate the year of the pig :)
