If I was alive in that time I wish I could fight beside the prophet sallallahu aleiyi wasalam at battle of Badr and Uhud even though I am deficient and could never deserve to have such a privilege from Allah. The prophet sallallahu aleiyi wasalam and sahaba are the best of all role models and examples for us. In this time now degraded societal norms make people generally deficient in character compared to the quality of character, manners and behaviour back then, even the best of us can never measure up to the mediocre of such generations. We are not even equal to the toe nails of the goodness of that time may Allah guide us to be more like rightly guided first generations and less like the severely corrupted times we live in. The dunya and the love of it is a trap, a distraction, it is a place we are merely passing through on the journey to our destinations. May that destination be Jannah and not Jahanam, Ya Rabb save us and take away from us the love of this life and the need to cling to it. We will all enter our graves regardless nobody survives this life and nobody escapes the inevitability of the absolute truth of the promise of Allah.
Why do you say "I am deficient and undeserving"? That defeatism is Christianity, not Islam. Islam encourages himmah and aspiration as well as humility and modesty, they are not mutually exclusive.
@@user-gc6wd7dm4w the prophet sallallahu aleiyi wasalam said the first guided generations would be the best and each generation would worsen after that until the day of judgement. The sahaba’s generations could go their entire lives without being known to tell a single lie, most people from the current generations can’t reach midday without telling one either to themselves or another whether large or small. Just an observation and reminder to myself and others to seek to do better and always improve. You are right on your point, Jazak Allah khairen for the reminder.
