    juicychristian has a great idea for storing ephemera in a mixed media spiral notebook. Her video explaining is called How to Create an Ephemera Book. Since switching to this system, I've used all of my ephemera so much more.

    Just a thought. What about putting your 6x6,and 8x8 directly above your other paper, and organize it the same way you have the other paper organized. That way when you are looking for a certain color or type, it is in the shelf above the larger sheets. You eye only has to move directly up other than over there - where ever that may be. Also maybe try a Clear plastic envelop and store your bits along with the paper. Have several to keep close to the color combo. That way it is close to similar papers, and you can grab it when you are looking for other papers. No running here or over there to retrieve something somewhere else. Keep all those like bits in one place, not wasting your time going to different places. Even in a small room, it is time consuming. All you want to do is get what is in your brain on the the project.

    Great idea to review your space and storage since we all use things differently. I have my stamps in refrigerator bins about half the length of the one you showed with handles built in it makes it easy to move around and put dividers by categories as you mentioned. For scraps I found if I divided them by size instead of color and put them in inexpensive baskets in those drawers I use them more because I just pull out the whole basket on my table. Just exchanging some possibilities. Happy crafting!

    If you have room for your stamp bins even though they get heavy, try putting a small empty box or piece of styrofoam in the back of it. Fewer stamps make less weight. I guess your first task will be to make dividers so that you will know how much room is needed for each category. Than you can leave room in each box for some kind of filler. Maybe two thirds full will work better. Hope this helps. 😊 I am setting up a stamp room in a new house and have bought 2 of those boxes for markers with the criss/cross dividers at a thrift store. Hope they work better for me than they do for you. Otherwise I may just take out the dividers and just use them as a box. Good luck for finding better ways of organizing. It is always a challenge to find out what works for you.

    • @facemadelife
      @facemadelife  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! That’s a great idea to use a filler! Each bin would then only be about half full and then I can deal with it again later when my collection grows. As far as the marker storage, they just didn’t work for me. They work very well for others! I hope they work for you too!

Thank you for sharing an honest "not sponsored" review of storage items and ideas. I appreciate that so much. While I love all the creators who share their spaces not all of us can live or afford an entire IKEA show room in our craft spaces. Your space is lovely, well put together, thought out and real. Great video, great inspiration, even for those of us here in Europe who have to make do without Target, Container Store etc. At least we have Amazon and Ikea 😂. Speaking of which: my absolute BEST craft room organisation tip (though an investment) is Ikea‘s PAX wardrobe. Youcan completely configure the whole thing: bib shelves, lots of drawers and here the inserts dividing the flat drawers into about 5‘‘x5‘‘ squares are AMAZING. Pulling out my drawer of rainbow order ribbons or washi tapes or mini stamp pads… is pure joy. Another marvel, much less pricey, are old MC racks (think garage sales, Ebay, flea markets): they fit many ink pads (Distress and Catherine Pooler among them), you can easily (spray) paint them, too. Kind regards from Germany, Nicola

    On your works in progress trays, do they fit 12x12 paper? I like this idea for projects. I use that insert for 12x12 paper only. It would be great to keep everything like stickers and embellishments.

    I knew exactly what that woven tray was because I was just wondering the other day what happened to mine. Seriously, I think I got that Pyrex dish that comes with the tray for my wedding 43 years ago so it may be hard for people to find. Maybe they’ll find it at a thrift shop. I love those type of finds in other areas of my house. It’s like shopping in my own home. Thanks for the video.

    I love your paper trimmer storage! I have my pens in the round dollar tree things, I e6000 the legs and put a lazy susan under them so they spin, but while it works it looks a mess with 8 pair of scissors, needle nose pliers etc, so I need another idea.
    I did find a 20" long monitor riser at ikea with a drawer. If I stack 2, then should be able to store my pens & tools in the drawers, and my big kick on top, it's worth looking in to (although expensive).

    Great work - love the trimmer holders and have one ready to pick up at Target! I keep large scraps in clear envelopes (job ticket holders) with the full sheets. Other types of clear envelopes would work too. Being a card maker I do a lot of small die cutting of sentiments and small elements , so small scraps are upright in ROYGBIV + Neutrals order in a very small bin near my dies and die cutting matchines. And if new scraps I want to keep don’t fit something has to be tossed (recycled).

    Great tips! I have the same X marker storage. I solved the short marker problem by cutting foam core boards into little triangles and pushing it to the back of the sections before putting the markers inside. Some markers took a couple of layers of triangles, but it has worked really well.

    Looks cute…. But I’m loath to spend $30 a drawer set + baskets + shelves totalling thousands of dollars…. to put on top of shelves which cost that much as well… I’d rather spend that kind of money on craft supplies not storage, so I stack pretty on shelves and go up the walls with pinboards so it’s decoration as well

      @@facemadelife It really is a pity cos I LOVE those acrylic drawers, they’re just so schmexy and clean looking!… I do have a couple for all my bag hardware… and tho I quoted your $30 from your link…. I just read my first comment back… I sounded so blunt (or like I was picking at your choice?), but I didn’t mean it to be… I watch ALL craftroom tours and storage videos ‘cos I’m obsessed with them and love seeing what other people have and do… it was more just a **sigh** that we don’t have ikea or dollar tree shops and good cheap stuff over here but I forgot to over-pepper my words with emojis so people know if I’m being sarky or funny, or whatnot…..and so my text comes off quite dry above as I read it now….
