  • The dishonest conduct by certain officers at the Papua New Guinea Defence Force has led to the dismissal of 166 recruits.
Close to 400 new recruits were set to undergo intense training at the Goldie Training Depot however those that were recruited fraudulently were let go today.
Among them, personnel who had failed their medical tests, others who were past the age of recruitment, some using ghost names and one had tuberculosis.

I tried for two years 2019 and 2020, I have grade 12 cert, I went through all processes in 2019, sadly I did not go through yet the recruitment officers did not explain where did I went wrong nor did they show us our results...but they kept on saying "come tomorrow, come next week, or come on this date till we the most young eligible candidates I guess are left out, what a disgrace to the Defence Force. But understand we are Papua New Guinea, what ever you do that is not right, and bad you will still face the consequences I am truly sorry for those Recruitment officers back then, I can still remember who they are, what they did was wrong, a failure injustice practice in the disciplinary force. WAKE UP PNG WE ARE IN 21st CENTURY. STOP THIS FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL.

My tambuman passed all his test and he is just 21 years old but one of these culprits replaced him and pushed him out by using bravery.
    Thankyou very much.

Some of the Officers who are currently holding ranks in the PNGDF have gone through such corrupt and bribery practices. If you go back and check their records properly, some of their heads will be rolling. Keep up the good work Chief of Training.......!

Will there be an investigation if there was corruption involved in the recruitment process?

Totally agree. May the higher hierarchies engage an investigation team to look into that national issue immediately before next recruitment.

P.N.G is known for ineffectiveness always not able to get things right in the recruitment process but leave it to the last and this is not a proper way to penalise them. We should find the faults in first place.Whoever was in the recruitment panel who collude must go through a fair trial or penalized.

Do a recruitment process review and remove the corrupt and incompetent people. This is embarrassing the process has always been the same and has worked, it's the people in the process not doing their job.

it has been the case for so many years. the innocent recruits supposed to have been re-screened rather than forcing them out of training. The recruitment team should be hold accountable for this matter.
    where are we going PNG?
Both DF and Police recruitment processes has not been followed the way it supposed to be for the past years.
i was also a victim of Police recruitment in 2017 in NCD. similar cases were discovered so they put on hold the recruitment in NCD and do away with the recruitment. the genuine recruits were also victimized.
i feel for the 166 DF recruits

That is an insane thing to do how can PNGDF have issues in recruitment system. Come guys it's almost 50 years of independence now. If they really loved to be a part of PNGDF then well see it in training. And the other thing is that please do consider how many other Qualifications they have. Thank you and keep safe everyone.

It doesn't matter with the ages. So long as you are helping to reduce the unemployment rate and increase the opportunities of and individuals who are struggling with their daily survival in this struggling corrupted nations. Don't charge the book by its cover. Those aging recruits may have the higher qualifications and working somewhere else from other works of lives but as their desire speaks with passion pride and honor to serve this nation of us.lets give them the opportunities for they shall prosper with this career or path they have chosen.
