  • A quick overnight camp above Haweswater at Rowantreethwaite Cairn , didn't have enough daylight hours to get up on to the ridges so just settled for a shorter and lower camp just off from the old corpse road.

    That evening sky (and timelapse!) were fantastic! After a grey, cloudy day it always feels so good to see a wee bit of sun in the evening, that why I also like to camp high! Too bad the weather turned over night into even more cloudy - but then again, it's always good to be outside!

    Cracking camp mate, nice calm night but the wind found you again haha, I like the look of that stove, scenery was really nice on the way up, I could do with a foil mat like that,. I need to bring less beers and more goodies like you, looked cold mate in the morning, I'm behind on my RUclips watching, so late getting to the video, enjoyed watching 👍 ATB 👍

Shame you weren’t able to get more photography done due to the clag, but I thought the timelapses were brilliant and caught the atmosphere perfectly. Spot on mate. Haweswater is one of my favourites. It’s got everything in my opinion. I usually put my matt inside the doss bag to stop it slipping. The foil insulation is great I’ve made pot cosys and a pouch to place boil in the bags in once they are hot, stay hot for ages.

  • @petergilbert72
    @petergilbert72 3 года назад +1

    Good idea about the foam strips to keep your mat in place. It won’t add significantly to the insulation though. The conductive rating is R 0.1 so almost zero. If it was near your skin the silver radiates your body heat back to you but under a well nsulated mat it won’t be able to do that. But great for fixing it to a spot.

    • @BorderRambler
      @BorderRambler  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Peter , I always struggle in winter (too skinny) to keep warm but I have found a decent R rate mate coupled with my -12 rated quilt keeps me warmer these days . The wind blowing around the tent certainly dips those temps too 🥶

    It was a fine day on Monday for it.(I was out as well ,video to follow lol).No wind made all the difference from your last visit up that way..even up on the tops it was mild. I need to get down there for a wander sometime. That thicker foil will have come in very handy overnight.did you cut it to size?
