I've lived in Steve's Soundworlds for 35 years now, since Structures from Silence came in like the wind when I was 13 years old. All these years has been a non-stop flow of Steve's spaces, as an immersive, supportive, creative environment that provides the ideal companion for reflection, contemplative practice, and using the creative process. Steve's sound art has enhanced the quality of my experience in all spaces in which I live and work. Keeping the sound space present with flow patterns of energy and information that live in the sound world bring certain frequencies and creative order to the space itself that has an autopoetic (continuous self-organizing system) dynamic to working with it, like an organic fusion or structural coupling with emergent patterns of movement and itchy summonings to lift and evoke generative images. Sound sanctuaries take the moment in time as a living breathing conversational frontier like standing at the edge of everything. Steve's sound art offers a doorway to staying longer, and listening deeper. In fact Steve's work, the culmination of all the impact that his work has had on me and my life building process inspired me to write a business book based on the peripheral listening I've been able to access generatively through my encounters with Steve's sound currents. I dedicate the book to these teachings and influences from Steve's work. The book is called Stay Longer Listen Deeper, written from several sound spaces as the origins of the words on the pages. www.lulu.com/shop/john-davidson/stay-longer-listen-deeper/paperback/product-24176862.html

Steve Roach is the real deal. DREAMTIME RETURN has to rank amongst the top 5 ambient / electronic albums ever made. Humble, open, pioneering. Very few can hold a candle to him.

I can really relate to the experience of hearing those little instrumental intros and sections from bands like Floyd, Rush, etc. that you just wish would go on . . . Those things were a big inspiration to me in the beginning.

Dreamtime Return was my introduction to Steve Roach back in ‘88, and Artifacts a few years later, but it wasn’t until 2006 that I started collecting his entire solo back catalogue. Since then, no day has passed without a dose of Roach. His soundworlds are so varied, there’s a mood for each activity and each part of the day.

Really and truly it can be stated that Steve's musical artistry is like a soundtrack of life and creation, constantly moving and flowing and morphing and evolving. Was first introduced to Steve's Music back in 1987 where Dream Time Return was debut on Hearts of Space. My high school friends and I,at the time were experimenting as all young lads do with mind and body altering substances and one night we turned on the radio and there it was,the missing link to our "trips". Later on when those substances were shed and Steve's music became the mind and body altering substance I and others in my tribe who really connected with his music would have "journey sessions" by where we would just light some sage, turn off the lights, get the candles and back then, black lights going and we would just let the music take us wherever. Fast Forward 34 yrs later and now being able to go to live shows, that journey has never stopped. I got to meet Steve, finally after many years of correspondence,in Santa Fe in 2018 and it all just came together. Steve is a Stellar and Awesome person, nice and gracious and its reflective of his music and his presence at live shows. I highly recommend his live concerts once this pandemic gets under control and we can resume the journeying. Much Love and Many Respects.

I discovered Steve Roach through Linda Kohonav. In 2007, she wrote 'The Tao of Equus: A Woman's Journey of Healing and Transformation through the Way of the Horse.'

I fall in love with Steve music 4 years ago, i found his music by accident and now he is my favorite artists for sure, he can produce soundscapes like no other, every album is a journey for itself, i didn't saw anyone so productive like Steve, he is releasing 3 or more albums by year and there is no bad album or something like that to happen.

I feel the same as Steve about the source of where the music comes from, and have felt this way for a lot of years. I didn't discover Steve Roach until 1998 with 'Suspended Memories, Forgotten Gods', but I have always had the same philosophy when approaching my own creation of music. I've always believed that music can enhance and be a catalyst for the expansion of consciousness.

Loved the photo of Steve in Soma FM t-shirt! And it was great hearing a couple tracks from Empetus in the mix. That was my first encounter with Steve Roach’s sound worlds and still one of my favorites.

I am a huge Brian Eno fan, but what I find interesting about Roach is that he comes at ambient music from such a different angle. There is something almost organic in it. He draws more from Tangerine Dream's early work and the dark landscapes they generated. They were my first introduction to electronic music, firstly with Phaedra and then Rubycon. I think they lost track over the years, but Roach seemed to kick up on their initial approach and then really made it his own. Wonderful stuff.

Nelda, you did a superb life changing experience by delving into the depths of Steve Roach's application to composing, orchestrating, engineering, and recording a myriad of sound architecture, few have done in recent years. While we sometimes are confused by all the genre's of this instrumental dynamics void of Soft Synths, Pro Tools, and Auto tune, Steve Roach's application to all of this is warm, rich, and lush sound environments, he is deliberate with our deepest immersive sense to engage a peaceful resolution to all the ills of the World and manifest each chapter of his audience that places sound in our hearts. Excellent job, here.
