Pre-Money vs. Post-Money valuation is one of the weirdest terms you'll have to deal with as you navigate your fundraising. It almost looks deliberately designed to confuse you and screw you.
But it's not.
The reality is that both of these terms are important and used for different critical calculations your business needs to run.
Let's get to it.

I dont understand how anyone can dislike a content like this ! Really I dont.
Keep up Slidebean 🚀
I hardly comment on youtube videos, but I've just gotta comment on this one. Thanks a lot, Caya, this is great content, and so simply explained compared to a bunch of videos I already watched on the same topic
Thanks for all the content you constantly put out to help startups and startup founders, explaining technical and complex stuff in clear and simple ways
There are hundreds of videos covering the same topics but yours are defenitevely the best of them all by far. You really deliver value and useful practical knowledge. GGGGGREAT....I love slidebean
Wow, thank you! Glad you like them. Feel free to share them around with anyone you think might find them useful
Has slidebean thought about switching from a pitch deck saas to a YT channel and founder focused business something like clarity
Why not have both?
I've always said they should be the 'canva for videos'
Cant agree more or less
I'd love to see a video about Misfits Market. They just raised a 200M round and are a great company to look into imo. Love the content as usual
Happy to watch another upload :)
Amazing bro. I had spent a week to understand this few years back. You made it like a cakewalk
I just wanted to say... you guys are awesome!!
great video- keep up the good work, thank you for all of this!
Excellent video, very clear explanation. Deserves far more views!
Much appreciated!
Great work!
As usual, super super valuable!!
Amazing! Thanks.

@@user-lu1mz5qg7z dude stop wasting time in this channel.
You won’t be seeing any dumb guys watching these sort of videos.
Great channel
This actually a very interesting Financial & Accounting topic which is really easy to mess up.
Thanks caya👍👍
1:59 just give everyone one 1 million shares
videos like this may not get as many views as the company forensics stuff. But trust me, they have a greater impact...
Please where is this interview with Paul Silva.. Any link? Love your content
Pre-Malone: One face tattoo; Post-Malone: Tens of face tattoos.
This is one of the best comments
its quite informative.
can you explain how SAFE works.
EBITDA Multiples dont generalise well to loss making and early stage companies. Valuations is ultimately perceived value and negotiated between the investor and investee.
Best video on this topic. Better than yc and carts channel. Thanks RUclips reco and thanks slidebean.
Your visuals and chart makes it easier.r
One things I don't get is, @6:39, how does 500K for 20% leads to pre-money val of 2M? I don't get it.
Thanks for the video. A question: is pre money valuation per share, always = post money valuation per share (in your example $0.11) ?
Thank you for this video
I've always wondered how a company's valuation can double just cause they raised a bit f money
It's possible to register a Company in USA as non us citizen, But we can't move to USA without a Work permit or green card or something like this? So how what can we do to this ????
ver informative but quick one if i registered my startup as an llc in my local country do i reregister it in the us as an llc while replicating the share holders from my local or its brand new
Hi Caya, couldn't access the free Financial Model Template, as it is a paid version. Is it possible that your team provide a link?
Thanks now i'm rich
When multiple investors are involved, do you add the total series funding for post-money valuation or just theirs?
For example, if my pre-money valuation is $1M and an investor is contributing $100K but our total expected series funding is $500K, do you refer to post-money valuation as $1,100,000 or $1,500,000? This has implications for % equity as well.
You'll refer to $1.5m post-money valuation. The round is only considered completed and "closed" when you have raised the entire $500k.
Chins and high quality products doesn't go hand in hand
U always get. Me. 😁Caya . I wanna know this
still confusing
I don’t see the excel sheet
Here you go, sir! slidebean.com/financial-model-template-for-startups
@Caya, please consider creating a start-up school with all a clear roadmap, videos and resources founders can use. First time founders would definitely pay for this.
how did you calculate the 2.25 million shares added. formula to get that would be nice
Did you mean 2.25 shares instead?
1) calculate price per share = $1m/9m shares = $0.1111 per share.
2) take $250k divided by 0.1111 = 2.25m shares.
@@cors1929 yes thank you
Maybe Slidebean need to rethink their sponsors after this...
