I’ve been blessed to have been dancing since an early age here in New York City in Manhattan. One could dance seven days a week back in the 80s and 90s I’m saying all that because I’ve been to so many clubs and met so many DJs from Junior Vasquez, Victor Calderon, Johnny Vicious, Carl Cox, Paco Osuna, Chus & Ceballos, Markus Schulz, Danny Tenaglia and many others. I say this because from suffering with deep depression what I call stinking thinking I would always let my happy feet take me to clubs. After seeing this, I realized that my short interaction with Danny one night he really threw it down in Space Ibiza in NYC. I’m blessed to know all the ones above and the great ones are truly humble. So I may share what I heard: You don’t stop dancing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop dancing.
Thursday 31 May 2001 Steve Lawler presents... The Midweek Session at Code in Birmingham UK with guest DJ, Danny Tenaglia. Over 1000 people turned away that night after the club reached capacity. Danny played an extra 2 hours on top of his scheduled slot. As well as occasionally chatting to the crowd, Danny had "borrowed" a spotlight from the lighting rig and was manually operating it to add his own spin to the lighting in the club that night. These were the days of tracks such as Superchumbo - Revolution, X-Press 2's AC/DC and Muzikizum. The atmosphere was unbelievable from the second Danny stepped up to the turntables to the last track he played. Up there with one of the best nights of my life. Thank you, Danny 🙏

DT is a straight-up icon dance music that still is kickin' it today. I remember when this came out around '98 or so off of his "Tourism" release. Of course, this would be huge. But I don't think many felt it would be the behemoth it is now. I think most of the magic of the track is that it's a little simplistic - it really just has a few elements (DT PUN! HA! - get it?) done extremely well. It's not really that complicated a track. And IT'S HARD TO DO SIMPLE STUFF THAT CONNECTS. All the stars aligned to make this a now time-honored choon. I played his tracks on vinyl in Ukrainian clubs, but unfortunately not everyone liked this house tracks. But I didn't care, I got high in the 2000s from his music! Those were the best of times! Now the music is much more different, but I still play sets with music from those times 😊
