I was looking at this, but wanted to make sure that it didn't pull red. Thanks for this review :) By the way, I don't know what color you're using in the NYX, but the in ash brown is similar to Anastasia in soft brown.

Great review! I normally use (and love) the billion dollar brow universal pencil. But it is expensive, so I'm always looking for an affordable alternative! So glad to see elf offering these now! I also love that it's a wider/thicker pencil. So many are too thin which I don't like. It takes forever to fill in my brows and then I use them up too fast with my thick brows. Haha Thanks for sharing, definitely going to check these out!
I bought ten of these in the taupe. For the price and the amount you get, it's insane. It really is a great product too. I travel a lot and it's easiest to have multiples of things so I'm always looking for good things that are inexpensive enough to not have to worry about.

What a fantastic review! I think you have created the most natural looking brows I've ever seen in a review. It's really helped me decide on which colour to order from the ELF selection here in England. Like you, I seem to look bad/weird if I use a brown with any real warmth to it, and need the ashier, cooler tones in brow products, even though my brow hair id almost black. It's strange. Think I'll go ahead and purchase now. Loved the choice of music in the clip, too, by the way!
If u were wondering, the deep brown is PERFECT for black hair! It's pretty much a black color, but not too black that it's scary when u fill ur eyebrows in

I've been using the Elf brow pencil/concealer in light and the brow cream/powder in medium. They both don't move one bit, and I have oily/combo skin. They also have a brow mascara that I haven't tried. Although it has a nice color range and light or medium would work for redheads. An ash for light, then a brown and dark brown color.
What I like about the brand besides the cost is that it's cruelty free! The other thing with the brows is that being a redhead it's hard to find a product that works. With the two products I mentioned they do 'pull red' as you said enough in the shades I chose that I don't feel like a freak when I put it on. Plus applying it lightly. =)
I wouldn't use any of these particular pencils because none of them are red enough. I don't know about in person, but Taupe isn't anywhere near red on the swatches online.
If you compare the three pencils to the brow mascara for instance, you'll see what I mean. ^_^ Bottom line is between all their brow products I find they really work, and they have a ton of shades to work with overall.

First thing I noticed when you were filling in your eyebrows is how it was not coming out creamy like Nyx brow pencil or the fact it wasn't coming harsh in color....unlike next. I NEED THIS BROW PENCIL!!! FANTASTIC JOB LIKE ALWAYS!!!!

Yes to the classical music in the background, I love, love, love it! Thank you so much, it's my biggest pet peeve on YT that RUclipsrs use the most standard stock music and so you keep hearing the same little sample played over and over again throughout the whole video. It makes me unable to watch any of it. :( So thank you for putting in classical music. It's an excellent solution also because it makes you feel better, it may also motivate one to put on some classical music or look some up. All round the best idea ever. I do hope you continue this and maybe even make this your thing since often I play your video's in the background when I do dishes and stuff. I am a light brunette and I feel like Elf's lightest brow shade, Taupe, is still too dark for me. Shame that they don't have lighter shades. It oxidizes too, so it end up looking darker than it is.

Yay, your eyebrows look much better and balances out your face, bringing more attention to your eyes. As a makeup artist myself, if I had you as a client I would have gone with a shade like the one you applied. I have heard some clients say they are afraid of having groucho brows, being too dark and thick. I can understand probably why you haven't already done so since you had not found the right shade . The shade you chose looks great on you! I had not seen this product from ELF yet, thanks for sharing!
Did someone recognize ELF changed there undereye hd powder, that isn't any longer pinkish with multicolored micoshimmer, now it's just straight up boring white, yessss :(((((((((

My lids keep falling off. 😔 but that's not a problem because my brows never looked better I finally stopped using black eye shadow to do my brows. I got dark brown and black I started from the inner brow with dark brown with a light hand and filled in the rest it looked really good then I used the black to darken the outer brow and ruined them lol so I just use the dark brown a life saver. I use the wet and wild brow kit also for the brown powder and gel to darken the ends.

The only downside is that ELF brow product didn't work for maybe because I didn't put a clear gel to set it. 😭
I think Jessica would look much better if she had darker brows to match her hair and dark eyeliner. I think it'll frame your face much better :)

I thought the taupe one looked a little red but as I had got it in the post I tried it. Now I don't like anything that's red toned but when I got this on my brows it didn't look red at all and in fact was perfect for me.

so what happens when you wear the point down after use? Do you loose the precise tip? does it have a sharpener?
Aww Jess, I saw you had what appears like a stye on your eye... I had one pretty recently and I think one of my Urban Decay eyeliners was causing it, but I managed to get rid of it in a little over a day by just not wearing any makeup and using the Similisan eye drops in Irritated Eye Relief (I think I got mine form Walgreens and they were inexpensive). Hope it's better soon!! Also I'm looking forward to trying the brow wiz by ELF, seems like a pretty great dupe!~ TY FOR THE REVIEW!!!

Watching this on ^^^^ this date lol. The Prelude song!! I love that kind of classic piano songs, it just relaxes me so much. Still doing my Binge on your videos. I have learned so much from you and a few other RUclipsrs!! Getting ready to start my own channel for Beginners!! Plus hauls of my organization and cluttering LOADS of things! I have been so scared and nervous to start and your first videos is just SO cute!!! I loved them all!!Especially, the declutter because in a weird way I feel better when you declutter haha. NYX Control Freak is Good but I actually prefer the ELF Brow Gel for a drugstore option! Your brows look awesome! I already use the ELF Studio Brow Kit in Medium so I am definitely interested in another ELF brow product！ Too bad there isn't a larger shade range though (although your color may work for me).
Can anyone please help me? Which of the brown colours would NOT have a red tinge to it. Cause I have dark hair, and like to get a tone lighter, but they ALWAYS have te pesky red tinge. So could anyone tell me which one has a more cool tone?

I would like to try this, unfortunately I would need it in taupe. I'm naturally a medium ash blonde and judging by the swatch, it does look too red. Might be worth the 2 bucks though to try it out

YES! Thank you so much for this! I have been using a WNW taupe brow pencil, and it's crap quite honestly. I use my eyebrow brush to help soften it, but it's CRAP lol. I am so stoked! I planned on buying the NYX brow wiz dupe, but now I can spend even less.. THANK YOU! :D
I'm so hesitant to try new eyebrow colors because they never match, so my naturally thin, dark eyebrows look terrible, not to mention that fair skin never helps. I really liked Maybelline's brow precise in deep brown, but I always forget to put it in the freezer before I start my makeup. Milani's easy brow in dark brown has been my safe bet lately, and for $5 I think I'll keep it until I see some more reviews or comparisons on elf.

Oh lord. So I watched one of your haul videos and fell in love with you. Then I was looking on my page and realized I hadn't subscribed! Omg so needless to say after a frantic search I found you....😆 wanted to share that... your the best girly.
What do you recommended using for someone who is just beginning to fill in eyebrows? I have really thick eyebrows that are slightly bushy. I have to fill in my eyebrows because I dye my hair dark brown so my eyebrows are way too light. I'm really scared of filling them in too thick or too dark and I'm not sure wether to use a powder or a pencil from the drugstore.
I think it looks great, very natural. I like how the color has a bit of transparency and clings to the actual hairs a bit more.. that might not be a plus if you have bare spots though.
As for the NYX, try black. That is the one I wound up with since every other shade pulled red or was way too light. It's more of a cool dark brown in use and applied lightly it's very close to my BW in dark brown. I actually prefer it to the BW, it applies a bit smoother and more even.
I miss the guitar intro already. I have an anxiety disorder and your videos help me calm down and that chill guitar strum just lets me know everything's going to be alright. Maybe I'm just resistant to change, in fact I know I am.
I definitely want to check these out now! Brow pencils just go so quickly, so a $2 option would be nice!!!

I just found your channel a few days ago and I'm totally loving your videos. You do a great job. I can't wait to try these pencils. I was in my 7 Eleven a few months ago and I was surprised they sold ELF! Yeah! They had a pretty big display (they had way more than my Walmart) does it get any better? Go in for a Slurpee and pick up a red lipstick at the same time=)
