I don’t think it was all that bad. Honestly, the choreography wasn’t my fave but Chris wasn’t terrible.

Bless him, he tried! I don't know why they always give Cha Cha Cha's on week 1, when they're so technically difficult?!! I really like him though and they have amazing chemistry together, you can tell they're gonna have a blast! Also, love Karen's hair and outfit!
Only a 13? Really?? It wasn't THAT bad of a routine. He had plenty of attack and energy and a great connection with Karen. He also got the character of the dance. Yes, his hips were a major issue, but other than that, this was WAY underscored. I would have given it a 6 or a 7!

He's got pretty good rhythm, and at times his hip action was pretty solid. That being said he obviously has a ways to go, particularly with loosening up and finishing his lines. I did give him an extra point though for bringing his personality and energy to the dance. (4)

Surprisingly He Does Have Great Rhythm! They Both Have Great Chemistry. Looking Foward To See what They Do Next Week! For Next Week, I think He Needs to focus on Overall Technique And Continue His Great Rhythm. And The Choregraphy and Song Choice I quite Enjoyed! 5

However the dance didn’t do it justice. The beginning looked surprisingly slick but it’s like he forgot one step and the technique just vanished. I hope he’s one in ballroom cos he’s got the charisma for strictly

I love Karen and her choreography - don’t understand this hatred towards her. She should have been partnered with the CBBC guy cause they could do a mean street routine together.

I think the song really helped him get into the character, because he really delivered a performance. However, he really lacked any attack, a cha cha gets its image from two main factors, hip action, which didn’t exist, and straight legs, so everytime you bend a leg, you want it to snap back to being straight as soon as possible, but in time to the music, so on a Cuban break, or the locksteps, he really needed to snap his legs between the positions. His posture was bad, really bad, and he didn’t have a clue where to put his arms, BUT cha cha is difficult, it gets a name as the easiest Latin dance, but it really isn’t, so actually for his first dance it was a great effort, and he improved massively.
A lot of people are hating on Karen, and I have to agree that I have never liked her choreography style, but she was a really great match to Chris (or Dianne, would’ve been brilliant with him), so overall a positive start.
So for me it’s a 3.
Surprisingly i liked this song and dance 💃🏻 for week 1 Chris did a good job 👍🏽 at times a little stiff wished he moved his feet bit more at places and also hips lol 😆 having said that i liked his stage presence sooo a good 5️⃣!!

Well I enjoyed it! I thought the judging was a bit cruel and slightly under marked compared to some of the others.
Think they deserved a 17, it really wasn’t that bad.
They were great and stuff but Chris was kinda not really doing anything and letting her do all the turns for him but on the bright side it was brill!
There was a lack of Cha Cha technique especially the hip action, it was quite stiff and wooden, but I think Chris was scored really harsh actually. I think something like 17 would have been fair instead of 13 because he moved a bit. A 5.
He's stiff and awkward plus the hip action was lacking but i think the judges were pretty harsh it wasn't anywhere near as bad James' performances overall 4.5/10

Love Chris but I felt Karen was doing all the work and pushing him around the floor. Hopefully they'll improve next week
I felt bad for Chris. This would have gotten 4 more points if he had done it later on the show (as with the first 3 performances). I'm not saying he should be on the upper half of the leaderboard, but compared to Anneka and David, I thought that this was much better. Scoring was wack tonight. Hopefully he does better in ballroom (although I don't have particularly high hopes for Karen's choreography... wish he had Dianne).
I thought he did brilliant it's a hard dance for a male and it's week 1 I think they forget that sometimes but I'm hoping he improves as that is what it's about!
Wasn’t that bad, cha cha cha isn’t for everyone. Stacey was terrible at it and she ended up winning
This is a shame because Chris seems to have so much enthusiasm and potential. Very wooden and flat footed. His lockstep showed potential but the hips just did not move which is a shame. His hands are also splayed on the new yorker which makes him look worse than he actually is. Sadly he didn't show the rhythm I was expecting. His enthusiasm and joy was great and he showed real effort but it was pretty bad if I'm honest *4/10*

Bless him, he seems to be extremely enthusiastic about the whole strictly experience but this really wasn’t all that great. The first 15 seconds showed promise and then he started opening his mouth, making all sorts of facial expressions and it all went a bit downhill from there. If he relaxes into it and loosens up his hips we could be in for a slight improvement, overall don’t think Latin is going to be Chris’s thing. 3/10
Ah, the Cha-Cha: cheeky, full of wit, with clean connections and covered in hip-action! Ok, this Cha-Cha was like out of date biscuits! There was little hip-action which, sadly, resulting in the stiffening and tightness of his upper and lower body. Very lumpy and awkward - not to mention how much he was stomping; this dance should have smoothness and full of natural fluidity. Unfortunately he could not deliver this, but it's only Week One! 4.

Henry Manley Karen did start on the wrong foot with Craig so Craig doesn’t really like her tbh
Henry Manley she's the weakest choreographer in the show that's not an opinion.. all her routines are boring and cheesy, no substance and just rinsing and repeating..
I still think you're being a bit harsh!
I watch strictly to judge the terrible musical performances more than the dances now 😂

Karen’s choreography is always meh for some reason. She needs to take a leaf out of Katya and Otis book on exciting choreography
He does not needs any juice, but a potion that gives him the ability to master the technique of the dance, because that Cha Cha Cha was a series of mistakes and errors. No hip action at all, no straightening of the legs, even a heel lead during the lockstep which is a complete no,no in this dance. He didn't shopw really the rhythm of the dance through his body because he didn't transfer his weight correctly from foot to foot, his foot placement was wrong almost all the time, and there were no mechanics (right use of hip action, right use of the feet). The only good things about that routine was the great amount of actual Cha Cha content and the fact that Chris has given all he can. Sadly, for me it's a 2.
