It could, but the sand in many places is deep, With your health, I would suggest a 4x4 of some type for your adventure vehicle or maybe just join local group that explores, just in case you get in a pickle...

Enjoyed the journey through Old Dale Road and Joshua Tree. The adventure, especially with the unexpected challenges in the desert, was thrilling. The history of the Virginia Dale mine was a fascinating bonus.
