- According to B&M records, this siren was 1 of an order of 12 sold to a Houston Dodge/Plymouth dealership in August of 1959. I have owned since the 1970's. I recently sent it back to the craftsmen of B&M Siren Manufacturing Co. for a total restoration and this is the result. You can see and hear the S8 before restoration by looking at my other videos.
Remember folks, This siren is still available NEW from B&M sirens in California for your fire apparatus!!
B&M sirens does a great job with these resto's!!
This shows you the kind of work that Kevin and his guys can do.
WOW! I have never heard a coast down like that...you have outdone your self!
That's a CRAZY coast! Love it.
Great sirens! Debatably maybe the best sounding ever made! I had one on car when I was fire chief and it sure did clear the way!
Exellent Video Very Nice Job On The Siren It Runs Out Nice
Wow nice you were right. Covering the intake gives it a much longer wind down.
Sounds just like a 2001 on full peak. I want one of these just to have an "add-on" to our sirens..
Long Beach fire has B&M S8B's on their Pierce Arrow Reserve Fleet as well as on their only Pierce Lance TDA
Are they loud
Now, that's how they're supposed to roll. Some of the later S8s didn't have quite the long roll to them.
I wanna get one of those centrifugal dust collector blowers from harbor freight and connect it to the intake of this siren and see if it makes it louder it's a setup I would like to have as a tornado siren hahaha
Oh. Ok. Didn't know that. Thanks.
If you plugged the intake of an STH/STL-10, I think it would coast down like this.
Do you have siren on selling becouse i am interested att the
Sorry, none for sale at this time

@@Thunderbolt_7026that’s the motor
@@blazer8451 this was 3 years ago if you didn’t notice
What gives it the coasting ability?
The rotor is connected to the motor thru a clutch. When the motor is powered up, the clutch engages and spins the rotor. When power is removed, the clutch disengages and the rotor is free to "coast" on it's 2 ball bearings.
Do all C5Gs have a clutch?
Yes, but not all have a brake, that was optional.
Okay do you mind helping me getting mine to work.
It seems that the chopper doesn't wanna let go of the motor.
I will give it a shot, send me a private message with your email address.
Dude wtf it spinned so fast lol

STH-10 wind down
damn my modern-made outsourced manufacturing now-made-in-China Federal Signal Q2b siren keeps breaking and having to be RMA'd, bugging out, drawing too many amps from my rig, and is failing to have any pernitrate power or travel distance. If only there was a viable alternative concurrently/actively-being made in America siren.....
