Thank you for so many ideas for my last of the season overload. I didn’t even plant them, but while making the garden ready this Spring I saw baby plants from last years droppings. I must of had 9 plants for cherry tomatoes this year ! Makes me think of the verse in Micah 4:4 “Each one will sit under his vine and his fig tree”
I learned more about fermenting from you than out of 30 or so videos I've watched or even websites. I have bought of those airlocks but never knew what to do with it. Certainly no one mentioned adding water to it so I haven't tried using it. I also have a different type airlock where you can vacuum out air. I tried it. I fermented one of my homegrown cabbages last spring. It was my second time trying it. Honestly every time i tried the kraut it made me sick. Gassy and upset stomach no diarrhea or anything just gassy sick and I only ate a small fork full each time. So I've given up fermented veg. Thats until I saw this video. I think I will try one more time but not cabbage. Maybe dilly beans or tomatoes. I'm new so I subbed your channel. I do believe I'm going to enjoy watching your videos. Love your shirt, BTW. ☺️👍 Thank you for sharing. I have loads of cherry mators. Lol
...sooooo glad I found this video (and y'all's channel) I have 40+ cups of cherry tomatoes to preserve...and this helped me so much we've already canned 36+ pounds of roma, San marzano and paste tomatoes, between our garden and LeRoy's dad's garden we have an absolute plethora of cherry tomatoes Thanx again ☮️&🌱's -tracee (LeRoy's wife)
Fermented tomatoes last months in the fridge ... the peak for bacteria count will vary and diminish with time and texture will change with time but they will last many many months or longer .. enjoyed your video .. thanks
Thank you for all the great ways to use all my cherry tomatoes. I love the freezing in the ice cube trays, I had not thought of that, and I will seal my bags. Also, I was not sure how, or even if I wanted to peel them, I will, and then make tomato powder, another awesome idea. Thanks Janet, your videos are always so helpful and full of great information.
I planted 27 cherry tomato verities this year and wow 🤩 love rapunzel, white cherry and Zima , flavor bomb, brown cherry, sweet 100’s, mini kumato! All taste like candy from all the neighbors they kept asking for more! Thanks for your video series much love from PA
I usually grow about 30 or 50 cherry tomato plants every year. Makes an interesting infusion for juice and salsas. Love canning them in left over beet brine.
That’s so funny. Because I really do have cherry tomatoes growing like crazy. Looking for some recipes found a few. I’ll be making some cherry tomatoes sauce to go with my pasta tonight. Who knew that I would have so many. Thanks for sharing
Lady, I'm about 30 seconds in and I'm laughing my ass off at you. Pretty sure we were separated at birth. Anyone that can make me hit my giggle button that fast gets subscribed to and channel shared. Well done, I'll continue watching the vid now. I lied. I'll empty the bladder and then I'll finish watching. ;)
I just want to live near you and pick your brain! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos! Watching you do a canning video (part 2 specifically) was so helpful and reassuring).
treetopchic, how kind of you! I am glad the canning part was helpful. I was a bit scared the first time I canned food way back when, but it is really easy to do. You’ll get the hang of it. 👍🏻
I only do two cherry plants too. Well my two plants went nuclear!! Over 6’ tall and 100s upon 100s maybe even 1000s of orange cherry tomatoes. Glad I found you and these ideas. Thanks a million.
😂😂😂😂😂😂YES!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂 I got my seeds mixed up. Thought I was planting 4 cherry and 4 paste. I planted 8 cherry! LOL.😆 I found a late volunteer coming up that will yield paste tomatoes. Going to build a greenhouse around that sucker til they are ripe. I love the ice cube trick... can pop those into veggie smoothies.
I am not an expert on fermenting, just started last year....but my supplies are clean, not sterilized, and I don't weigh anything, just use a standard amount of salt suggested on other videos, and I use a 4oz canning jar to weigh it all down, and a canning lid to top it....I burp it daily....5-7 days and its all good......how do people think they use to make old timey saurerkraut in huge crocks...??? they weighed it down with a china plate, cover with a cheese cloth....all good....
In the olden days, they didn’t have guidelines for safe canning either. The fact that I took the time to show how I do it, doesn’t force anyone to do it that way. People make their own choices; it’s that simple. All good...
I have much better success with cherry tomatoes than the full version here in LA. I bought an orange variety this year and was happily surprised when the birds didn't seem to recognize they were ripe while they tore huge chunks out my red better boy regular size.
I got the ones for wide mouth jars on Amazon. Here is the link, but they are currently out of stock. You might could find them elsewhere. www.amazon.com/dp/B01GGHR5BM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_EPHETHGQH2ED8EXF6YH0

I loved the video, but I kinda can’t get past the fact she thinks people under 30 wouldn’t know what an ice cube tray is. Maybe folks who grew up well off. Most fridges do not have ice makers, so most people still use them lol. It’d be like me assuming people over 50 don’t know what a smartphone or the Internet are lol
I don't have a CLUE where "brittain" is. Is that a country? Believe it or not, pretty much the rest of the world actually uses the metric system. Wish we did. It makes more sense.

Oh gosh, forgot about those old metal ice cube trays. Memories of my childhood! Great video, thanks for all the tomato ideas.
You are most welcome!🤗
I LOVE your humor in this very inspiring video. My daughter planted 8 cherry tomato plants! HELP ME!!!
Thank you so much!

Cool beans!!! And thank you! 🤓

Thanks for the tips and entertainment.
Exactly, right? I can feel my fingers sticking to the trays just thinking about it! Thank you so much, Alice E! 🤗

I blended mine added a little lemon juice and some vinegar, turned out to be smoking hot salsa thanks to Serrano peppers
Where did you get your fermentation air lock lid and the plastic and glass weights?
I believe I got them all from Amazon.

My kids say I pickle everything, but they were wrong. I am pickling cherry tomatos tonight.
Jennifer Arias, 😂😂😂. I just saw this comment. How did the kiddos like the pickled cherry tomatoes?
Do you have to prick them? I just made two quarts not pricking:(
No, they just might not absorb the brine as much.

Could you use the fermented tomatoes in a salsa?
Joanie S, you could, but you wouldn’t want to cook it or you lose all of the probiotics. It would need to be eaten in that two week period.
Can you tell us where you get those plastic things that hold the food down in the jars ? Please. 💚🌿💚

Dehydrated cherry tomatoes are great in sauce.

Actually, I find being able to use a food scale and measure in grams helps me a great deal. To each his own.
