Hello ! Great video, it's high quality work and awesome practice, I was looking for examples for my portfolio and that database is perfect ! Plus you give a lot of best practice advises which is also great. I only added some budget lines for 2019 taking the same amounts than for 2020 so that the kpi card work all the way.

I considered making the budget product specific for certain products, which could be good for demo purposes...but too much work to create that. But you re right, i guess in real situation each product family would have a given objective comparatively to past sales performance, but whatever... I just wanted the card to work, if you do however carry the budget for 2020 on 2019, they've had a bad 2019 year and you can make the case that diversifying their offer to other things than bikes may have generated better revenues... Or that the budget in 2019 must have been lower... lol Any ways ! Keep up the good work !
Hey all! If you are having issues with Power BI and the column headers not coming over with the CSV...Here is what I found on stack overflow. In SQL management studio. Tools -> Options -> Query Results -> SQL Server -> Results to Grid, then check 'Include column headers when copying or saving the results

One thing I'd recommend in future videos is moving your computer further away from your mic, there was a constant wining noise throughout the video that grew to be a little distracting. If you are following this in 2024, make sure the Adventures work you use is the same as told in the first video. If you are using an updtodate version, then your calender dim should have a where clause that states the Calender year IN (2022,2023) and update the budget excel sheet to 2022 and 2023. The latest Adventures work does not really have sales for 2019. It would not look good.

Hi Ali! I add the KPI card present in the PBI Desktop (couldn't get the card you used in video) but when I am applying filters (e.g. I tried "Sales by Customer City in Jan 2021"), the card is showing 'Blank'. How do I enable the card to change dynamically as per filter criteria, Ali? EDIT: Facing trouble in Donut chart as well. The chart simply shows 22.24M in sales but when I tried to break it down by gender, it simply showed 33.33% for BLANK, MALE and FEMALE, which is stupid. Just 55 minutes of content in videos 3 and 4 but I have been struggling with the visualizations for 2 hours. It was also not mentioned in this video that in order to access the KPI card used in video, one needs to be logged in with an organizational email ID in Power BI. Standalone desktop users of Power BI can't access it. In future, consider marking your content as 'FOR EXPERT/MEDIUM/BEGINNER LEVEL'. If you don't have time, then definitely mark your content should you choose to create it.

Hi, You can also import visuals from a file, but that makes it more advanced. I would consider just going with a regular KPI object. Doesn't really make that much of a difference. What kinda account do you have now?

I am following the videos and in video #04 when you added the dynamic KPI, I first added the 'Sales' column in the indicator followed by 'budget amount' as comparison 1 and 'sales - budget' as comparison 2. However, my measure ' budget amount' is not working and as a result the arrow up and arrow down amount difference is not displayed. The total amount is displayed on the right side with an upward arrow while there is not amount on the left bottom side of the box. Could you please help me with this query? Thank you!

Adding sales into the KPI card is showing 0 for me. The budget amount is displaying correctly but the sales are 0 whatever i do. Please help. I am a beginner and dont know how to fix this problem
@@aliahmad1987 my friend fixed it for me, for some reason he replaced the date key column with a column he made himself, in the new column that he made, he seperated the dates correctly as they were not in the correct format in the original, when he did that, the table worked fine

Me too. I tried by right-clicking in the table, choose **select all** -> **copy with headers**** and then just paste it to the Excel sheets or Google sheets, but make sure to change the extension either to CSV or excel.
Hi @iamaliahmad the sales budget only indicates for 2020&2021. Doing this project in 2024 invalidates that sales budget and throw errors in my data. How do I fix this? Thank you

Please elaborate on this situation, like when you create new reports, or when to create new pages in the report, etc...
Hi Vik, You usually create a new one because there might be new needs, new challenges, new stakeholders etc. It really depends...if it is a continuation from previous then maybe you can expand on previous, but you should specify that it is a version 2.0 or something. Does that make sense? Ali

Hello, I think the easiest is to look up online how to create a Power BI account using a temp email which can be done as a school or work type, then you can sign up for Power BI even if you don't have this type of mail account. Best, Ali
So I have a few issues here, I dont know where to get the budget table from as I didnt see when we used or imported it before. And the other thing is that for me when I connect DIM Product table and FACT Internet sales table using Product key it makes a many to many relationship because my categories rows are not null but are 4 different categories, so it makes 4 different Product Keys for each item. Is that fine or a mistake?

Recently, as I was importing the csv files into Power BI, the system continuously alters and duplicates the values in the ProductKey and SalesAmount columns. In the transform data query, the values remain fateful to the csv. However, as soon as the query is applied, the data becomes corrupted. Do you have any tips for this ongoing issue?

I would look in the query editor and see if it gives you an alternative query which says which rows are faulty, but it hard to say without seeing it. @@timilehinfalusi4234 I want to help, but no point giving away the answers. Take a look at the data model and think about it logically, which tables has to be connected and verify that. After that ask yourself which column is being summed and if that looks correct. I am sure you will figure it out :)

Hey, thanks for the video. I am facing issues creating the relationship between the product and the sales table. They are only showing me the option to create many to many. Is it okay to proceed with it?
I Found the solution. we are getting many to many relationship because our product file has duplicate rows in it. Go to Power Query > Choose Product Dimension File > Select All the Columns > Then click on delete rows option > Click on delete duplicate rows.

When importing the data into PowerBI I my Column headers are Column 1, Column 2 etc instead of DateKey, Date etc.. This is happening for all the tables and I don't know how to fix it. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Mary, Data Load = Loading data into somewhere, it could be a tool, a database, etc. Data Transformation is applying some sort of logic to change the data. This can be cleansing, renaming, removing nulls, joins etc. Hope that helps :)

Hi Ali, I am unable to convert the OrderDateKey column to a date type from the text type. Power BI shows the following error: "We can't automatically convert the column to Date type" Because of this my KPI card shows the value zero when a month or year is selected from the slicer. I have searched the internet for solutions but none of them are working. Any suggestions?

If you are following this in 2024, make sure the Adventures work you use is the same as told in the first video. If you are using an updtodate version, then your calender dim should have a where clause that states the Calender year IN (2022,2023) and update the budget excel sheet to 2022 and 2023.
The latest Adventures work does not really have sales for 2019. It would not look good.

I add the KPI card present in the PBI Desktop (couldn't get the card you used in video) but when I am applying filters (e.g. I tried "Sales by Customer City in Jan 2021"), the card is showing 'Blank'.
How do I enable the card to change dynamically as per filter criteria, Ali?
EDIT: Facing trouble in Donut chart as well. The chart simply shows 22.24M in sales but when I tried to break it down by gender, it simply showed 33.33% for BLANK, MALE and FEMALE, which is stupid.
Just 55 minutes of content in videos 3 and 4 but I have been struggling with the visualizations for 2 hours.
It was also not mentioned in this video that in order to access the KPI card used in video, one needs to be logged in with an organizational email ID in Power BI. Standalone desktop users of Power BI can't access it.
In future, consider marking your content as 'FOR EXPERT/MEDIUM/BEGINNER LEVEL'.
If you don't have time, then definitely mark your content should you choose to create it.

You can also import visuals from a file, but that makes it more advanced. I would consider just going with a regular KPI object. Doesn't really make that much of a difference. What kinda account do you have now?

I am following the videos and in video #04 when you added the dynamic KPI, I first added the 'Sales' column in the indicator followed by 'budget amount' as comparison 1 and 'sales - budget' as comparison 2. However, my measure ' budget amount' is not working and as a result the arrow up and arrow down amount difference is not displayed. @@aliahmad1987 my friend fixed it for me, for some reason he replaced the date key column with a column he made himself, in the new column that he made, he seperated the dates correctly as they were not in the correct format in the original, when he did that, the table worked fine

Me too. I tried by right-clicking in the table, choose **select all** -> **copy with headers**** and then just paste it to the Excel sheets or Google sheets, but make sure to change the extension either to CSV or excel.

You usually create a new one because there might be new needs, new challenges, new stakeholders etc. It really depends...if it is a continuation from previous then maybe you can expand on previous, but you should specify that it is a version 2.0 or something.

I think the easiest is to look up online how to create a Power BI account using a temp email which can be done as a school or work type, then you can sign up for Power BI even if you don't have this type of mail account.

So I have a few issues here, I dont know where to get the budget table from as I didnt see when we used or imported it before. And the other thing is that for me when I connect DIM Product table and FACT Internet sales table using Product key it makes a many to many relationship because my categories rows are not null but are 4 different categories, so it makes 4 different Product Keys for each item. Is that fine or a mistake?

Recently, as I was importing the csv files into Power BI, the system continuously alters and duplicates the values in the ProductKey and SalesAmount columns. In the transform data query, the values remain fateful to the csv. However, as soon as the query is applied, the data becomes corrupted. Do you have any tips for this ongoing issue?

Thank you and glad you are finding it useful! Uhm, I am not sure what you mean by alters? I would look in the query editor and see if it gives you an alternative query which says which rows are faulty, but it hard to say without seeing it.

I want to help, but no point giving away the answers.
Take a look at the data model and think about it logically, which tables has to be connected and verify that.
After that ask yourself which column is being summed and if that looks correct.

I Found the solution. we are getting many to many relationship because our product file has duplicate rows in it. Go to Power Query > Choose Product Dimension File > Select All the Columns > Then click on delete rows option > Click on delete duplicate rows.

Data Load = Loading data into somewhere, it could be a tool, a database, etc.
Data Transformation is applying some sort of logic to change the data. This can be cleansing, renaming, removing nulls, joins etc.
