Just came across a comment from the wife of Justin - Jeremy died 4 years ago of alcoholism. The family worries that he carried guilt of this ordeal with him. While mistakes were made, he ultimately saved both of them in the end. RIP Jeremy.
So sad he had to carry this guilty, I'm sure his brother didn't blame him but sometimes it's harder to forgive ourselves. May he rest in peace and God comfort his family 🥺🙏.
i think the brother should have waited until daylight to leave and get help, he could have tended to his brother that was hurt, made a fire and would have been better rested for the rest of the hike
Thankfully a story where the survivors don't babble about a "god" they should rely on or thank.....these men reached inside themselves to overcome this disastrous accident .

I have to say, very impressed with with them portraying the SAR operation accurately with similar techniques we use on my team. I can tell you, when they found Justin alive, every SAR member involved in that rescue wanted to either cry or cheer. God they both survived.
These brothers just reach out & grab ur heart straight out ur chest!! This episode is so intense. Just so glad they're both telling the story. So at least we know they both survived! Really heart-wrenching & heart-warming story.
The filming and dialogue in these episodes are always so good. I have to admit, though. I don’t understand why anyone would put themselves in such danger. The survival gear they had with them really did save their lives. Sweet story of brother’s love for one another. Personally, I think there is a God who was watching out for them and made sure they got out alive!
Humans don't realize how fragile we are as juxtaposed with nature. As a race we only think of conquering nature rather than understanding that we are also a part of it. It was a great video of the bonding between two brothers and their faith in each other that made them survive. It was a coincidence that I was watching this video on April 5, 2021, because in the video, Justin mentions this as one of his kid's birthday!
Those brothers are awesome! And that mouse part was so bittersweet...I would have been sad too if I was alone and had a little buddy like that for a few and then it left :(
Why on earth would you want to go down a canyon in that weather? And one of them with a hip replacement! These types of adventures are for very experienced climbers and even then things can go wrong. Stick to the levels that you are capable of when seeking thrills.
This story is the BEST one I have ever watched. What a great one. There was no lions, bears, crocs or hippos like most of the rest of them. Really, thoroughly enjoyed watching the brotherly love these two lads have for each other. AND ...THE MOUSE! How super that he shared his food with it. Sweet one. Hope that both the boys are now OK. xxxxx
Be ever mindful in your comments, Jeremy RIP.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 I find the comments unbelievably cruel no one act or decision is to blame for the one brothers leg amputation. This is not a fictitious movie or miniseries, these are real people lives not a place for you to vent your unwanted views on the competence of the survivors.
Another “wow” for this type of documentary. Got started with “Touching the Void,” an absolutely unbelievable story. (Cried my eyes out watching that the first time, even though I knew Joe survived.)
So glad the brothers are alive and their story has a happy ending. Yes Justin lost his leg but he didn't lose his life and they have an incredible tale of love, willpower and determination being told. Cheers, mates.
Somebody could be going through something like this RIGHT NOW and we know nothing about it. Someone could be lost and a canyon, jungle, ocean, desert, etc. And be badly injured and we don't know what they're going through. Don't tell me this has never came across your mind.... I know it has.
I think about stories like that poor man that was stuck under the sea in that ship for days in the dark. I think about that woman who lived in her house by herself with a bunch of cats and when the neighbors noticed she her mail piling on her doorstep, the police searched her house to find all cats dead, but it was 2 years later that the new owners discovered her body in the attic. She had fallen through some floor boards and never could get out. YES, it's on my mind.
Yes frostbite is NO joke everything turns ghost white then light purple and last Black which means cut off. I have Raynaud’s disease so I know all about getting cold which I absolutely hate love the hot weather had since I was 13, now 33. Glad they made it
Losing a leg is terrible and I hope I never do. But after going through that absolute hell and both surviving, Losing a leg seems like a small price to pay. Especially with how close to death he actually came. God bless these brothers. Life is good.
I love these videos because I enjoy seeing the human spirit triumph against near impossible odds. Gives me hope that there are still folks who hunger for adventure and and seek to find themselves in the face of a little risk. There is wisdom in a little suffering (or a lot) an education you can get no where else. The criticism of these folks in these stories is a little perplexing and depressing though. Of course there are things that they should have done or not done, that is painfully obvious and folks pointing these things out to make themselves feel better and feed their ego need to get out from behind the computer and do something besides judge. I took my family on a 10 mile hike this weekend, no phone signal, basic first aid kit only......No SAT phone (the horror)...... if someone had broken a leg in a fall they would have had to be evacuated by helicopter. We have done this hundreds of times, and if tragedy struck tomorrow, we would be back at it soon. To me, that is an acceptable risk. I would much rather give my kids the satisfaction and confidence that pushing and risking gives than to leave them with their phones or behind a computer screen all damn day. We are all going to die, and we will all be forgotten; so live. Live Hard.
ljlgclark? - I quite agree with you. Some people have NO IDEA how to live life and get the most from it. You can really find inner strengths doing some "stuff". They DO sit in front of a PC or TV and think that they are living life to the full.
I like to hike and the outdoors too but I can judge these people's decisions just like you can judge the comments and commentors. They still made dumb decisions for "experts"
At the beginning of this video the commentator stated that they were both "very experienced canyoneers". From what is depicted in this video, that just doesn't seem to be the case, especially the younger brother... he seems to be in the opposite spectrum of that statement! I'm very glad they pulled through though. Canyons are beautiful but can be dangerous places.
Okay I don't know if I'm the only one but my OCD went crazy when he was naming off his kids and their birthday's the first time. He said their month, day, and year but with his oldest son he only said the month and day and now I'm always going to wonder what year he was born lmao. And one more thing, it was so sweet at the end when Justin was looking at his brother. You can just see how much love he has for him, as they have for eachother
I got to be honest this episode make me cry .. remind me of my brother . I might not have money but I do everything for my family . I'm glad these guys are alive 🇺🇸🇲🇽
Jeremy is the worse. Lol First he falls in the water after his brother told him to wait, then he lets his brothers’ hand go causing him fall and break his leg. Leaves his side pocket open, wets the map then loses it. Starts a fire, falls asleep and also burn himself in the process. Was going to jump off a cliff.. Meanwhile, he is going the wrong all nite missing the turn he needed to take. All this, to just turn around and go back. BUT! He makes it out and saves his brother!
After the accident he was probably panicking and made stupid mistakes, like missing the side exit, but it was what he did to cause the accident that is the stupid part.
This one was extra special..I have felt more emotional through it ..the bond between the two brothers spoke volumes as they retold their story...it was heart wrenching and exciting to watch it.
Wow! This is a harrowing story of courage, brotherhood, and incredibly tough life lessons. I was brought to tears from seeing their close bond as brothers and the emotional and physical pain that they each endured.
After watching this series I won’t go on a plane, a boat, in the desert, in a jungle, near a river, hiking anywhere.. I think I’ll just stay at home and camp in my kids room
Really wonderful job by the brothers. I can understand Jeremy's guilt b/c his brother lost his leg. He did something very special and found a strength in him he never knew he had. Wonderful👏🏿
Omg! Jeremy is the last person on earth I would want as my hiking partner in an emergency injury time sensitive situation. Holy Cow. Lol. So glad they BOTH made it out alive.
My three year old daughter is shouting out in anguish as the older brother cries out in pain from the broken leg. We were all sucked into this story. The stamina of these two men amaze me!
Why expose your 3 year old to human pain on that level? I have a 3 year old and dont keep her in a bubble but she is not going to benefit from this show at such a young age and will only serve to be distressed by the pain and injury
@@kazzykaioken8873 Why do you care how another parent is raising their kid? Its their kid, let them raise them as they see fit. Maybe they want the kid to know about these horrors at a young age, what if they are a adventurous family and this is a good way to show the dangers of certain situations? Maybe she'll benefit from a show like this, maybe not. All kids are different and all parents raise kids differently. Worry about yourself and family.
When it's family together in these ,its always much more touching. Even tho they're telling the story ,i still worry one isnt going to survive and i worry the whole time. This is better than a movie! I love these stories ,problem is someone damn near has to die to get a story 🙄 I cant believe he lost his leg. I know the other brother is carrying major guilt, poor guy.. After stumbling upon I Shouldn’t Be Alive, I've officially stopped watching other movies and TV shows. This series is just on another level-absolutely mind-blowing! 📺💥 Every episode feels like a reality check, showing the raw strength of the human spirit in the face of terrifying, almost impossible odds. If you haven't seen it yet, seriously, do yourself a favor and dive in. It’s beyond just entertainment; it’s a reminder of what we’re capable of when pushed to our limits. 🌄🔥
My favorite ones of these are the extreme mountaineering ones cuz that’s something I’m very interested in and want to get into but at the same time it shows me how easily things can turn and get crazy. One thing I will always live by tho.. if I love something badly enough I will not stop doing it no matter how dangerous it is unless I’m disabled to the point where I physically can’t do that thing. That’s what I call a passion for something you love and hopefully that’s still how I feel in a few years about extreme mountaineering.
the younger brother seems to be reacting to the situation simply by panicking and feeling guilty, which makes him rush and not think or plan at all. It's easy to say from the comfort of home, but the fact is that this is not an effective way of getting out of a jam.
Bless these brothers! Oh my god, these magnificent places are also intensely harsh. The beauty of nature makes you wanna hug it and merge as one with it, yet we can barely withstand its grandeur and rapidly shifting atmosphere. What a lesson in perception, when the place we love so much can become horrifying and back to stunning in a heartbeat. May you always enjoy your authentic brotherly bond.
They both got lucky, if the younger brother had got badly injured looking for the way out they'd probably end up leaving in body bags. I'm constantly surprised by how so many of these guys don't seem to put any thought into contingency plans for an emergency.
How do you plan for an emergency when there is no service? Or how do you plan for an emergency when your 7000 meters up a mountain? (20,000+ft) or how do you plan an emergency when your stranded in the ocean or on an island or lost in the jungle? Not every place on this planet will have service and not every place is an easy place to rescue someone. People who do extreme mountaineering and are 7000+ meters high have like a 50/50 chance or lower saving someone who is injured and can not get down to the closest camp. Usually those ppl end up dying just cuz of how dangerous it is to save them. Even with a helicopter it’s dangerous ass hell considering being 7000+ meters up on a mountain you can easily get gusts of wind of upwards 60+ mph. 99% of these ppl on these “I shouldn’t be alive” vids get caught in VERY unfortunate situations and typically don’t have a way for rescue without the help of someone else
@@DoomedBySociety I disagree, there are a load of things you can do in case of emergency, regardless of the remoteness, the simplest one being letting people know where you are going and when to raise the alarm if you haven't contacted them by a certain date/time. Hand held GPS, base camps, emergency supplies containing a satellite phone (depending on the remoteness), you can even get gadgets to ping an emergency signal up to a satellite wherever you are in the world these days. Rescue isn't always easy, who said it was? That is part of the risk assessment you make before heading out to the wilderness. If you have no survival skills, and you don't make preparation for an emergency, you might be signing your own death warrant. Even the best preparation might fail you, but that is no reason not to prepare. If you value your life prepare!
Smoothmicra okay but what happens when you tell someone where your going and when to raise an alarm but something happens days, weeks or even longer before your expected day back? Then for the part where satellite phones, base camp, walkie-talkie’s etc.. satellite phones and radio run on a battery and use energy.. what happens when they die? You now lost you way to contact people at base camp or else where. All I’m saying is some people just have terrible luck where everything bad happens at once. Such as telling your family your going to climb Mount Everest which on average takes 2 months to summit and get back down and say something happened after you had left camp 4 going to the summit and the weather changes and strong winds pick up etc and you lose radio connection and start to come to hypothermia. Now you are forced to go find shelter in a small ice corvas or somewhere out of the strong winds and try to warm yourself up some. Then what if yet another bad thing happens and your stuck out in that ice corvas or wherever you made it for the night cuz the weather won’t change and your walkie-talkie/satellite phone dies overnight and you now don’t have any contact to anyone. Can’t have a heli save you that high, 99% of ppl won’t risk their life to bring you back down the mountain if your badly injured. So all I’m trying to say is no matter how prepared you think you are.. shit can always go wrong to the point where 95% of choices you make will become life or death and sometimes you gotta get yourself outta the situation you got yourself into by yourself with no help.
@@DoomedBySociety Sure, I said the best prep can still fail, but most the time the people who prepare come back alive. I wouldn't dream of going into potentially dangerous isolated terrain like those fellas without planning for injuries etc. They got lucky, but I don't want to rely on luck. I want to give myself the best chance of coming back. Preparation mate.

There's a comment saying Jeremy died 4 years ago due to alcoholism..
I would not go on an 8 hour hike, knowing that staying overnight is not an option.
Right. Exactly.
Lol when 1 is a fat ass and the other 1 looks special
I don’t get it what is fun in this sorta thing climbing in the cold if u want a thrill go on a roller coaster it’s much more Fun and deffo gets your adrenaline kicking 😅😅
I wouldn't either. I am one of those people who researches and prepares and probably worries about too many of the little things that COULD happen.

Wouldn't call it "gloating" as much but rather appreciation and respect for choosing to be safe and appreciating the safe confines of theyre homes.
Agreed!
Seriously. This king size pillow top mattress with a weighted blanket and two dogs feel so good. 😂
Wow. One thing after another. The thought of being below the surface, in narrow canyons is enough to make my chlostrophobia anxieties sky rocket.
I'm just so shocked that neither of them died of hypothermia! I can't even comprehend wading through icy cold water for HOURS like that. Riveting story!!
Very sad news. The brothers captured my heart. I'm so sorry for Jeremy and the family.
Oh no! Rest in peace Jeremy.
Guilt in any way, shape or form is awful to be carrying, whether or not it's justified.
I’m so sad to see this.
Justin, the older brother seems so nice, kind, calm, patient and sweet...and handsome to boot.
Those brothers are so sweet and you can tell they are genuine people and that brother thanking everyone was so sweet.
It is basically a reconstruction, you cannot believe in every detail you see as true. For all you know he was telling them to fuck off.
i think the brother should have waited until daylight to leave and get help, he could have tended to his brother that was hurt, made a fire and would have been better rested for the rest of the hike
I agree
It was a race against time, breaking a leg like this would cause sepsis.
Yes he should have made a fire if that was an option and left at first light but time was important but leaving made things a whole lot harder
Easy to say
Most sensible comment I've read. He probably would not have got lost, that alone cost much in time.

pretty standard
The filming and dialogue in these episodes are always so good. I have to admit, though. I don’t understand why anyone would put themselves in such danger. The survival gear they had with them really did save their lives. Sweet story of brother’s love for one another. Personally, I think there is a God who was watching out for them and made sure they got out alive!
Watching these amazing, reconstructed and often terrifying incidents makes me never want to leave home.
Glad the brothers in this one made out alive.
These brothers are awesome having that bond of never giving up and fighting to stay alive that’s inspirational as hell god bless them
Humans don't realize how fragile we are as juxtaposed with nature.
Most intense episode of Dude Where's My Car? EVER.

A very touching story of two amazing brothers who learned how much they mean to each other. There are no mistakes here!
Why on earth would you want to go down a canyon in that weather? And one of them with a hip replacement!
These types of adventures are for very experienced climbers and even then things can go wrong. Stick to the levels that you are capable of when seeking thrills.
When I watch stories like this I ask myself "Could I have survived if it were me?" Im not so sure....But I know I would be praying the entire time!
This story is the BEST one I have ever watched. What a great one. There was no lions, bears, crocs or hippos like most of the rest of them. Really, thoroughly enjoyed watching the brotherly love these two lads have for each other. AND ...THE MOUSE! How super that he shared his food with it. Sweet one. Hope that both the boys are now OK. xxxxx

I've seen this particular episode like 4-5 times and it gets to me every single time. I'm bawling my eyes out from the bond these brothers have.

All 100% true. (Wife of man that fell)
That was a 🐭 little friend. I loved that moment. Gosh.
Somebody could be going through something like this RIGHT NOW and we know nothing about it. Someone could be lost and a canyon, jungle, ocean, desert, etc. And be badly injured and we don't know what they're going through.
Don't tell me this has never came across your mind.... I know it has.
I always think this when I watch these type of shows.lol....

But why decide to not carry a SAT phone? I don’t get it?
At the beginning of this video the commentator stated that they were both "very experienced canyoneers". From what is depicted in this video, that just doesn't seem to be the case, especially the younger brother... he seems to be in the opposite spectrum of that statement! I'm very glad they pulled through though. Canyons are beautiful but can be dangerous places.

He said their month, day, and year but with his oldest son he only said the month and day and now I'm always going to wonder what year he was born lmao. And one more thing, it was so sweet at the end when Justin was looking at his brother. You can just see how much love he has for him, as they have for eachother

Jeremy is the worse. Lol
First he falls in the water after his brother told him to wait, then he lets his brothers’ hand go causing him fall and break his leg.
Lmao I agree BUT he did save his brother from the fall first. That’s why he had his hand in the first place

He’s got a brave heart! God bless him.
These super sweet brothers made me cry 😢. I'm glad you both made it out alive. Love conquers all.
the younger brother seems to be reacting to the situation simply by panicking and feeling guilty, which makes him rush and not think or plan at all.
