There is a new model with 4 antennas PCE-AC88, it can reach higher transfer speed with newer routers. The one i have does the job pretty well, it has been running solid for the past 2 months. no regrets
Still rocking this card after more than 5 years, using it on RT-AC88U after my AC68U died and managed to get average 80MBps copying files from my NAS over 5ghz wifi. Wonder how much better the PCE-AC88 would be.
Wonderful review (!) Just bought this, based on various reviews... This is just what I was looking for. Funny how people are super aware of lag in games when it comes to gfx cards. NICs are fairly cheap, and if you have an A list gfx card, why not invest around 100$ and get rid of that bottleneck. Before it used to be harddrives that were the slowest thing - now it's the NIC. Getting ready for throughput here !
You use inconsistent labeling in your charts showing your test data. On one slide you show MB/s, and in another you show mbps (millibits? M=mega, m=milli).
5G wifi is Wifi 5 . And the G? It is forGHz. IEEE 802.11ac-2013 or 802.11ac is a wireless networking standard in the 802.11 set of protocols (which is part of the Wi-Fi networking family), providing high-throughput wireless local area networks (WLANs) on the 5 GHz band.[a] The standard has been retroactively labelled as Wi-Fi 5 by Wi-Fi Alliance.
Helpful review. Comparing pc locations of varying quality was very helpful. It would have been useful to show a comparison against a cheap USB wireless dongle or even a laptop to show consumers what value there is in getting this card as opposed to budget options.
nice review...loved the intro music...just bought this for brother (as his german shepherd pup had fun chewing the ethernet cable lol) keep up the good work :)
it comes with a cd...? download drivers on another pc useing USB. or use your smart phone... cable from phone to pc, phone gives pc internett, and internett gives you driver for wifi...
I ordered this guy yesterday mostly because of the detachable antenna. I think I've got some interference going on behind my computer that's killing my performance. Even on my phone, a speed test will drop to about 2mbps behind my computer and go back up to 30+ anywhere else in the room. I'm pretty stoked, but am starting to get the bug to upgrade the router too.
You're getting identical numbers that my PCE-AC56 gets using a D-Link DIR 878 Router (AC1900) using iperf3 to test transfer speeds between my PC and my S10+ on 5ghz. My S10+ can download at 40MB/s from my PC and my PC can download around 25MB/s from my S10+. I mean, the router gives up to 1300Mbps 5ghz speeds (theoretical) and both my S10+ and PCE AC56 connect at 866Mbps because they're 2x2 set ups on 802.11AC. Weird. But my motherboard has an RZ-608 in it... definitely doesn't have the range but it does support Wi-Fi 6e. I just don't have a 6e router lmao. But, anyways, I use Ethernet for everything I possibly can. I was just interested in the AC-68 because it, too, works with Wireshark for radiowiretapping. Seeing all of this, I doubt the range is any better than the AC-56's range. I pick up on neighbor's wifi hundreds of yards away with it from inside my brick house.
What'd you use to speed test? Don't tell me you used a cell phone, too. You'd have to have two PC's, each with PCE AC68's in them to see how they upload and download. And best case scenario, a test where one PC has the AC68 and one PC is on 2.5Gb Ethernet with a router that also has 2.5Gb Ethernet. Just to eliminate all bottlenecks. Since your numbers match mine, I feel like you tested it against a second Wi-Fi set up that is weak, like a cell phone or something. Learn to use iperf3, it's sole purpose is testing bandwidth between two devices on a network.
Just for future vids. You should try League of Legends. Cable vs Wifi latency truly shows. Its an incredible latency-sensitive game. Id be interesting to see how it performs at a weaker signal.
Great review, definitely have me sold on this adapter. The issue I'm having is that my gpu is fairly thick and covers both PCI slots. Do you know if this would work in a longer PCIEX slot?
I got the Asus AC88 while it is a monster of a wifi card, I'll have to disagree with the with color, the Red really don't go with much of anything in my opinion, only with red builds. My system trying to go with Black and white and I wish it was just black, which would look good with any build really.
Thinking of getting one for my home server. I got the ac88 some weeks ago and it handles what it says. On test I get a little more up and down speed than what I pay for. My router is not an Asus but provided by my Internet supplier here in Denmark. I don't need cables for performance anymore.
I got one - almost 2 years ago I think - and Im not complaining - its really nice - but is it not a little old for new review? Im not even close to replacing it, but was just wondering if there is not something stronger on the market already?
not necessarily, this one which was for Australia has had a few silent revisions over the years and while it still is much like the original, reliability and speed have seen minor improvements. It may be a little old but still a very valid product
I asked for this to be installed as I thought it would connect to WiFi but it doesn't work without a usb WiFi adapter plugged in or it just isn't working. I'm confused. Please help me understand. I switched the pc on with this installed but no WiFi options showed up . Plugged in a WiFi USB dongle and it showed up.
This wifi card confuses me. On the one hand, when it works, it did me speeds of 200+mbps down and 12mbps up on my 5 year old router with a not so great data plan that's on the other side of my house. When I first bought it, it solved all of my issues, but over time, the quality quickly deteriorated. I now only get speeds of 20mbps down and 12 mbps up a year and 3 months after purchase, it will randomly disconnect from the WIFI, sometimes it will see the WIFI signal and read "cannot connect to WIFI" , sometimes it simply wont function what so ever and can only be soplved by a system reboot. I stream and play games, and this thing used to be able to stream overwatch at 720p60fps with ~3-5 in game ping higher than normal, and now, a little over a year later, I can no longer stream and play games at the same time. My stream quality can barely reach 480p30fps and my in game ping is simply unplayable: base levels of 60 ping (normally 32) frequently spiking every 3-5 seconds to over 750. They have the blazing fast speeds, but they cant seem to get the basics right: longevity and connectivity.
It is certainly amazingly good and I have one, but the latest versions (Hardware version A2) now has four antenna. If you have it installed in your close vicinity, then after about an hour it will give you a konking headache, and probably brain damage too. But that shouldn't worry most of you guys,,, Hey I'm just sayin...
I got 60 mbps download and 20 mbps upload and 11ms directly connected to the main router that is in my living room and I'm at my room (20 meters/65 feet from the living room). How much more can I get with this card, anyone can help?
from what i remember this card does not support Bluetooth and as for a recommendation id say any little small low profile usb adapter made by a reputable brand like logetech, jbl orico e.c.t. unlike wifi Bluetooth usually deals with smaller files so there is no need for large amounts of bandwidth and the likes of pcie or large antenna
I recently upgraded my roswill wifi card to this one since I kept getting random disconnects and slow download speeds. Yeah it's expensive but well worth it.
Thinking about buying this, what do I do with the drivers? I've been scrolling through the comments and have seen that apparently downloading the drivers is a pain, so what do I do? I'm moving houses soon and want to know what I have to do with those drivers. Also thinking about upgrading to Windows 10, is that compatible? If so, do I install the drivers before or after I get Windows 10?
drivers are no more of a pain to get than any other piece of hardware. if you are worried download them now and save them to a memory stick or the desktop put your new card in and run the driver from the desktop or memory stick
Oh and @ 11:45 he says that there is nothing outside enterprice markets that can match this card, 2 min google research would prove him wrong. Please do your research mate.
one of the differences will be power and how much of it the devices can use. the pcie version will be able to use a more powerful chip set as the pci power limit is 75w where as the usb one will have to use a less powerful chip set as the usb limit is about 5w to 7w. both deliver great performance however if you want the most powerful option the pcie one is the option to choose
Is there something going on from windows updates my speed droped to 50-60 mbps from 250 I only have one wall & window between my Archer C8 ruter. I don't know how many of you go to device manager/network adapter click on propieties on the asus pce-ac68 go to advanced & realise beamformating it's turned off by default :))
i just bought it, but i dont know what happen.. i dont get the speed i need and the internet speed is almost similar to my past 4 to 5 time cheaper wireless card.. sometime worse. so i kinda regret buying it.. the diff is i put this on PCIe slot 3, bcause PCIe slot 1 cant fit. it hit my top surface GPU. so can u tell me what worng with my PcE-AC68?
it may not be the card, you also need to check your access point is able to put out the sustained speeds needed as well as your original internet connection. if you get 50down 20 up adding a supper fast wifi card wont make it any faster unless your bottle neck was the card.
Hell yea, will consider this when I build my pc next month. Say, for an ATX build, what motherboard would you suggest? I need one that can fit 4 ram for aesthetics.
Hi pls can you do a video on what is best adapter settings for this card and how I setup prefered 5Ghz and AC, I don't know why, I have a thinkpad next to my DT, thinkpad is picking my router 5GHz ac signal but this card do not, not sure if it's the settings or where the problem is, i have latest drivers.
Have a look in windows and window settings usually 5ghz or 2.4ghz is managed within windows. also from memory, there is a very similar model of card that only supports 2.4ghz i don't think that would be the problem but best to check
Will this work well in corners that recieve low mbps? I have my computer in a corner and I have a netgear wifi wireless usb which recieves crappy signal and problems
I just ordered this. But will I be able to plug this into my computer and get wifi without having to download drivers? or should I download the driver installer before I switch my wifi card just in case. I am running windows 10 on an asus z170a mobo with an i5 6600k and 8gb rx480. I'm upgrading from a tp link n900 which is complete crap..
windows 10 should pick it up but i would say to save your self the headache of installing, uninstalling and all to download the drivers, then put the new card in and if it is not picked up install the drivers you downloaded
I just bought this card and should I install driver before I install the hardware (somtimes it's like that), or it doesn't matter? According to the quick manual I should put in the CD the first thing I do!?
Dude i just watched to see if it will do at 20 meters distance from router but i guess i dont need to connect to the router bcs it can clearly go to the town radio/internet tower XD.
you told us to download the drivers but mine worked without any drivers (I didn't find the drivers and the adapter worked so I assumed it didn't need them)
The Little Gremlin Are you on Windows 10? I heard this card is a nightmare with Windows 10 so I have held off from buying it until I know if Asus fixed it or not, apparently the drivers aren't compatible with Windows 10 and you get average/bad speeds. What's your verdict if your on Windows 10 that is?
Kay Faulds I had no problems and it works with no drivers, I have 50 Mbps internet and it works fine (yes I have windows 10 and the one I have has only 2 antennas because I don't need 3 for my internet speed)
If it really do pick up 2.1km away AP. Then mine right here would pick up 100 APs already. You should at least legitimately verify something if it is the same AP you pickup from home coz these kind of hotspot from mobile carrier scatter everywhere and they you the same SSID. Moreover, according to my a bit of research "Telstra says they will be partnering with small businesses, enterprises and local government to bring Telstra Air to cafe’s shops and public places." So, it's might not always the phone booth that providing you that WiFi. In contrast, my PCE-AC68 can barely pick up my own 2.5GHz signal from my RT-AC68U from only 3 floor below. From my experience here, 2 km is impossible. My PCE-AC68 shows me only 60-75% on 2.5G and 50%-30% on 5G (Router RT-AC68U sits only 15 meters away with 1 concrete wall and 3-4 drawers in the way) For me I on the signal strength, it is just as good as intel 6200N in my ThinkPad X220. The card is quite stable though. No major signal fluctuation or drop at all. On the flip side, the wifi channel it support is much more restrict (1-11) than the intel card, especially for the US version card. I got the US card and I have no idea why Asus Thailand choose the US model instead of EU model. I have to reconfigure my RT-AC68U just for PCE-AC68 to works, as it is the only device in my home that didn't support channel 12 on 2.5G (even the crappy Atheros m-pci supports it) and it is also only 5G device which have no support on 5G channel 44. The plus side so far would be AC1900 support and the antenna stand which can help improve signal strength 10-20% if the PC is very badly position (like mine). And be caution the the stand cable is pretty short which make the only thing it will can be stick might be the computer case. If the cable is just 0.5 m longer, I can get ~10% more signal strength. IMO, if you don't value the antenna stand as much, I'd recommended TP-LINK T9E, which have the exact same chip inside with wider channel support (please check the spec). My PC with PCE-AC68 on i5 - 6500 SSD - Crucial MX200 250G M2 M/B - Asus H170M-Plus RAM - 2x8Gb Kingston HyperX fury DDR4 2400MHz Router 2 x ASUS RT-AC68U (Tomato Firmware) List of all other devices in my home that can pick up the signal, to illustrate how those channel widely supports by others and even much older devices but not the PCE-AC68 2 models of Samsung, so-called, smart TV cheapo Android box cs-918 Chromecast 1 / 2 OnePlus One HTC M8 Nexus 4 / 7 (2013) iPad 2 / iPhone 6 LG G3 SS GS4 / GNote2 / GNote6 Sony Xperia S ThinkPad R61 (intel 4965) / T400 / X200si (intel 5300) / X201i / X220 (intel 6200) / X230 (intel ????) Asus Ultrabook (crappy Atheros card) Crappy D-LINK PCI-E x1 Brother DCP-1610W ...... pretty much everything that has wifi, supports it except the PCE-AC68 So from my experience. + AC1900 + Signal stability + Signal strength is relatively good but as good as 2km operation range. + Antenna stand improve the signal for badly positioned PC - Antenna stand cable is too short - Restricted channel support. +/- RED.... it's the only red thing in my PC setup and the rest is an, accidentally, total black Y Y. If T9E have the antenna stand, I would go for it already.
it would depend on your isp rather than the wireless solution, if you get bad signal from your access point this will help but if you are able to get full strength from that access point it may be the isp
it would depend on where you networking problems are if you are having poor connectivity to all devices then something like the google home will help but if it is just poor connectivity to the single desktop then this wireless card will help
Aside from the fact of how the card slots are situated (determined by which side of your case your mobo is on) you can take basic science and engineering into mind. The science being that heat rises, therefore the cooler air is lower inside your case. From the engineering standpoint, you position the hottest chips on card down allowing them to be near the cooler air. These concepts are also minded with a case that provides ample cooling for any/all devices you have inside your case.
idk if i have a defect card but my card screams like mouse being beaten when i upload/download any big'ish files, it's a great card but that's big time annoying.
does anyone else have problems with this card dropping from the internet and reconnecting after a few seconds? I can't seem to figure out why it's happening and it's driving me nuts. (I've done everything under the sun to the drivers from clean wipe reinstall all the way to rolling back to older versions.)
@@CyberClu I’ve long since been using Ethernet and a good wifi extender lol but yeah I used the Asus drivers provided by some tech person but even then eventually it would just revert back to randomly disconnecting or things along that line.(lag) Best purchase I made was a 80 dollar wifi extender lol
you can use a lan connection to get the drivers or use a laptop or another computer and copy it with a usb. if you don't have another computer you can jump down to a store and just uses there computer
The PCE-AC68 it is the best wifi card for gaming, streaming 4k,downloading ( torrents *cough*) it works without lag, runs perfect on win 10 64bits.
dats all i wanted to hear (getting mine in 2 days, been stuck with usb adapter for 2 years, finally something with real powa)
Nice hope you enjoy the powa it has :)
There is a new model with 4 antennas PCE-AC88, it can reach higher transfer speed with newer routers.
The one i have does the job pretty well, it has been running solid for the past 2 months. no regrets
would this work with windows 7?
it works on windows 7 , Asus website has the drivers for win 7/10
I live accross from a shopping centre and I can free wifi and internet with this card LOL.
nice
DroneMatesFPV how far is your house from the shopping?
Yeah this is some life hacks shit
I don’t think that’s legal
That's extremely dangerous! Credit card info can easily be nabbed when on a public WiFi connection.
Still rocking this card after more than 5 years, using it on RT-AC88U after my AC68U died and managed to get average 80MBps copying files from my NAS over 5ghz wifi. Wonder how much better the PCE-AC88 would be.
Everyone gangsta until you can get free McDonald’s WiFi from 25 blocks away
looks like a quality piece of hardware. Might consider buying one now to compliment my ASUS motherboard
Wonderful review (!)
Just bought this, based on various reviews... This is just what I was looking for.

This is my solution to my pci slots facing upwards, thanks for showing off the design
Thanks for the review, I am building a pc and this will help my steal wifi from shops about half a kilometer away xD
5G means 5th gen of Wifi and basically means theoretical 1GBps transfers (or more). 4G was 300MBps. It's the same for cellular connections as well.
You use inconsistent labeling in your charts showing your test data. On one slide you show MB/s, and in another you show mbps (millibits? M=mega, m=milli).

lol
How am I supposed to download it if I don't get the internet connection on the PC? Can't you just use the disc to install the software?
just use another pc and download to a usb
it comes with a cd...? download drivers on another pc useing USB. or use your smart phone... cable from phone to pc, phone gives pc internett, and internett gives you driver for wifi...
install the driver from the cd, connect to internet and update the driver.
was it really that hard to figure out thank you Chan chee hou
just use some common sense and you'll be fine.
I have it and it's fkn lit
DrollChicken do u ever have any inconsistency
I ordered this guy yesterday mostly because of the detachable antenna. I think I've got some interference going on behind my computer that's killing my performance. The "5G" basically indicates 5th generation WiFi. a, b, g, n then ac.
It's pretty much a fancy new way of indicating AC or 802.11ac WiFi.
That Telstra access point :/ ......awesome! Thanks for the great review, i'll be buying one now (20% off ebay sale)
it cant be that good theres no rgb
5th generation speed standard: a, b, g, n, ac
Intro is straight Fireeeee
You recorded the traffic for like 20 seconds and i saw like 5 holdens lmao im from america so thats weird af to me
Lol everything out of America is completely taboo to you guys isnt it?
James Toumazis yea i hate most american cars i have a scion frs
Alec Fortin Good on ya man :)
Alec Fortin iirc scion was owned by Toyota which is a Japanese company
Got mine for 59.99 at my local Fry's Electronics down the street! pretty good card!

awesome thanks for the quick reply!
Nice video! Gonna bite the bullet and get one. Powerline just isnt my jam.

Ethernt > Wireless
This thing got me the blue screen...idk how I feel about this product
Me too. I think that this is caused of driver not compatbile with Windows 10 1909 build
Damn, your camera work is pretty nice.
@cpu modder BIG QUESTION: does it have bluetooth???? If not, can you recommend a bad ass card like this that does?
from what i remember this card does not support Bluetooth and as for a recommendation id say any little small low profile usb adapter made by a reputable brand like logetech, jbl orico e.c.t. unlike wifi Bluetooth usually deals with smaller files so there is no need for large amounts of bandwidth and the likes of pcie or large antenna
5:42 Crutial?
oops, the one bit i forgot to check crucial*
Doesn't matter, great video anyways :)
I recently upgraded my roswill wifi card to this one since I kept getting random disconnects and slow download speeds. Yeah it's expensive but well worth it.
Is this worth buying in 2022?
So happy I got this :D
Great channel
I’m about to pick this up.. Do I download all the drivers BEFORE or AFTER installing it into my PC? (Windows 10, Z470 Mobo)
most Windows 10 systems will be plug and play but usually best to download some drivers before you put it in
Your intro music is hilarious. Is this the official wifi adapter of Batman?
yep
Asus PCE-AC68 is awesome product i think !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Off it`s chops"....... Awesome lingo.
could you make a review on the Asus PCE-AC88?
ok, i will look in to it
Thank you, i would realy appreciate that (:
so is it worth getting
you think this can fit in tight spaces in your pc
Thinking about buying this, what do I do with the drivers? I've been scrolling through the comments and have seen that apparently downloading the drivers is a pain, so what do I do? drivers are no more of a pain to get than any other piece of hardware. if you are worried download them now and save them to a memory stick or the desktop put your new card in and run the driver from the desktop or memory stick
what red thing are you referring to?
2:14 sick dolly zoom
what speeds are you getting on the Mortein can?
The heck asus, stuck in 2006 with those colors ? Ill still pref my TP link T9e.
Also, this guy needs a gpu update, and an IO shield + pci slot covers.
Oh and @ 11:45 he says that there is nothing outside enterprice markets that can match this card, 2 min google research would prove him wrong. Please do your research mate.
well this was a year ago... what did you expect?
This vs the USB-AC68, any difference besides the obvious? (PCIE vs USB)
one of the differences will be power and how much of it the devices can use. the pcie version will be able to use a more powerful chip set as the pci power limit is 75w where as the usb one will have to use a less powerful chip set as the usb limit is about 5w to 7w. both deliver great performance however if you want the most powerful option the pcie one is the option to choose
I don't know why but mine just won't work. any suggestions for how I can get it to work?
Is there something going on from windows updates my speed droped to 50-60 mbps from 250 I only have one wall & window between my Archer C8 ruter. I don't know how many of you go to device manager/network adapter click on propieties on the asus pce-ac68 go to advanced & realise beamformating it's turned off by default :))
I see that you have a 2.4ghz and a 5 ghz. Is that from the WiFi card if so how to you set it up?
Thinking to buy this card for my pc..i did like your intro, do you have the name of the intro song? love these kind of music. :)
WDN4800 vs ASUS PCE-AC68 ?
i just bought it, but i dont know what happen.. i dont get the speed i need and the internet speed is almost similar to my past 4 to 5 time cheaper wireless card.. sometime worse. so i kinda regret buying it.. the diff is i put this on PCIe slot 3, bcause PCIe slot 1 cant fit. it hit my top surface GPU. so can u tell me what worng with my PcE-AC68?
it may not be the card, you also need to check your access point is able to put out the sustained speeds needed as well as your original internet connection. if you get 50down 20 up adding a supper fast wifi card wont make it any faster unless your bottle neck was the card.
can I also change the wifi extender cord even longer than the original?
did you have the buzzing noise during heavy downloads? i had a ac 56 and it buzzes alot
when testing i did not find any buzzing or noises out of the card
So this thing reads wifi, right? As in, it enables me to detect my wifi at home?
Sorry, I'm very bad at tech...
yep, if you have a desktop pc with no wifi you can add this and it will receive wifi
I have my computer in a corner and I have a netgear wifi wireless usb which recieves crappy signal and problems
it will depend on how low the strength is but this card will offer better range to get better speeds
I've heard this card is not compatible with Windows 1803? Can someone please confirm this?
I just ordered this. But will I be able to plug this into my computer and get wifi without having to download drivers? or should I download the driver installer before I switch my wifi card just in case. I am running windows 10 on an asus z170a mobo with an i5 6600k and 8gb rx480. I'm upgrading from a tp link n900 which is complete crap..
windows 10 should pick it up but i would say to save your self the headache of installing, uninstalling and all to download the drivers, then put the new card in and if it is not picked up install the drivers you downloaded
it didn't recognize it but I downloaded the driver before i installed the card just in case so it wasn't that bad
cool video man!
I bought this without knowing that it will be hitting the fans on my gpu
I spent over $80 on this thing years ago and NEVER got it to work.
Windows 10 (64 bit)
PLEASE HELP.
There are no updated driversm. I'm going to return It cause I bought this card less then a week ago
Hey just bought this and it's got a magnetic stand is it gucci to place it on top of my pc even though it's magnetic
I just bought this card and should I install driver before I install the hardware (somtimes it's like that), or it doesn't matter? According to the quick manual I should put in the CD the first thing I do!?
i would copy the files to the desktop, put the hardware in and then install the software
oki, fanks
that was quick btw ;)
Dude i just watched to see if it will do at 20 meters distance from router but i guess i dont need to connect to the router bcs it can clearly go to the town radio/internet tower XD.
can the antenna be placed outdoor
Um how am I supposed to download drivers for this if I don't have internet connection in the first place? Plus no cd drive on my pc
take ur pc to the router for a few minutes and plug in via a LAN cable?
Ok thank you just wasn't sure!
you told us to download the drivers but mine worked without any drivers
(I didn't find the drivers and the adapter worked so I assumed it didn't need them)
The Little Gremlin Are you on Windows 10? I heard this card is a nightmare with Windows 10 so I have held off from buying it until I know if Asus fixed it or not, apparently the drivers aren't compatible with Windows 10 and you get average/bad speeds. What's your verdict if your on Windows 10 that is?
Kay Faulds I had no problems and it works with no drivers, I have 50 Mbps internet and it works fine (yes I have windows 10 and the one I have has only 2 antennas because I don't need 3 for my internet speed)
is it different betwnn AC88 ,AC68 and AC 56 on wifi speed?
If it really do pick up 2.1km away AP. Then mine right here would pick up 100 APs already. You should at least legitimately verify something if it is the same AP you pickup from home coz these kind of hotspot from mobile carrier scatter everywhere and they you the same SSID. Moreover, according to my a bit of research
"Telstra says they will be partnering with small businesses, enterprises and local government to bring Telstra Air to cafe’s shops and public places."
So, it's might not always the phone booth that providing you that WiFi.
In contrast, my PCE-AC68 can barely pick up my own 2.5GHz signal from my RT-AC68U from only 3 floor below. From my experience here, 2 km is impossible. My PCE-AC68 shows me only 60-75% on 2.5G and 50%-30% on 5G (Router RT-AC68U sits only 15 meters away with 1 concrete wall and 3-4 drawers in the way)
For me I on the signal strength, it is just as good as intel 6200N in my ThinkPad X220.
My PC with PCE-AC68 on
i5 - 6500
SSD - Crucial MX200 250G M2
M/B - Asus H170M-Plus
RAM - 2x8Gb Kingston HyperX fury DDR4 2400MHz
Router
2 x ASUS RT-AC68U (Tomato Firmware)
List of all other devices in my home that can pick up the signal, to illustrate how those channel widely supports by others and even much older devices but not the PCE-AC68
2 models of Samsung, so-called, smart TV
cheapo Android box cs-918
Chromecast 1 / 2
OnePlus One
HTC M8
Nexus 4 / 7 (2013)
iPad 2 / iPhone 6
LG G3
SS GS4 / GNote2 / GNote6
Sony Xperia S
ThinkPad R61 (intel 4965) / T400 / X200si (intel 5300) / X201i / X220 (intel 6200) / X230 (intel ????)
Asus Ultrabook (crappy Atheros card)
Crappy D-LINK PCI-E x1
Brother DCP-1610W
...... pretty much everything that has wifi, supports it except the PCE-AC68
So from my experience.
+ AC1900
+ Signal stability
+ Signal strength is relatively good but as good as 2km operation range.
+ Antenna stand improve the signal for badly positioned PC
- Antenna stand cable is too short
- Restricted channel support.
+/- RED.... it's the only red thing in my PC setup and the rest is an, accidentally, total black Y Y. If T9E have the antenna stand, I would go for it already.
Depends on the wifi
are the download speeds any diferent because i live out in the country and downloading stuff takes forever
it would depend on your isp rather than the wireless solution, if you get bad signal from your access point this will help but if you are able to get full strength from that access point it may be the isp
ok ok
i ment OH ok
What is that? 1.0 TSI?
Should I get one of these or the Google Home Wifi
it would depend on where you networking problems are if you are having poor connectivity to all devices then something like the google home will help but if it is just poor connectivity to the single desktop then this wireless card will help
wHY Do they always build these things so the sit upside down in your system, whats the point of making it look good then?
ikr it would be so cool to have them the other way around, though it would conflict with other PCIe devices
Is the range of this card good?
this card work on any motherboard ? even if the motherboard was not from asus ?
yep, i had it in an asus one, gigabyte, and asrok and they worked no problems
how long is the cable?
I just found this in a rubbish place as well as 4 16gb hyper X fury ram things and a gigabyte fan thingy
idk if i have a defect card but my card screams like mouse being beaten when i upload/download any big'ish files, it's a great card but that's big time annoying.
I'm assuming coil whine? if so and if it is stull under warranty I'd get it replaced
I'm assuming coil whine? if so and if it is stull under warranty I'd get it replaced
the noise is in rhythm with the blue led on the back, when it blinks the sound changes, seem weird to me.
Will I get wifi without the drivers install or do I have to install them first
You need to install them first
Does it suport beamforming, because I'm also gething a archer c8 with it
from my understanding this model does not
i think the 5G stands for 5. Generation...802.11ac chipset with Dual-band bla bla bla marketing piss
does anyone else have problems with this card dropping from the internet and reconnecting after a few seconds? I can't seem to figure out why it's happening and it's driving me nuts. (I've done everything under the sun to the drivers from clean wipe reinstall all the way to rolling back to older versions.)
Are you using the drivers provided from Microsoft Updates? Or are these the latest drivers from the Asus website that are dated 2017?
@@CyberClu I’ve long since been using Ethernet and a good wifi extender lol but yeah I used the Asus drivers provided by some tech person but even then eventually it would just revert back to randomly disconnecting or things along that line.(lag)
Best purchase I made was a 80 dollar wifi extender lol
If i have average good Internet, will i recieve faster internet?
not really, you might see better wifi performance but internet speed to your building will not change
How to I use the internet I’m so confuse
How do you know the 5G doesn't refer to 5Ghz? to me it's painfully obvious that's what it means.
Yet you are wrong. It stands for 5th generation.
Does this support windows 10
Umm if I can't connect to the internet with this card then how am I going to get the drivers?
you can use a lan connection to get the drivers or use a laptop or another computer and copy it with a usb. if you don't have another computer you can jump down to a store and just uses there computer
That's exactly what my dad told me but thanks for the help anyway
