It's amazing to see this A-list movie star making a comeback after five years of disappearing. In China, from my grandpa to my niece, everyone knows about her and has seen many of her movies and TV dramas. Her comeback movie "Green Night," which sheds light on the female dilemma in East Asia, has been selected into the Berlinale Panorama, and I simply cannot wait to see it!!!
Fan Bing Bing out shine many A Lister actresses. The porcelain skin, the classical beauty, the winner oscar dresses, the height is another level.
Definitely she outshines most mainland stars in pfw. however her ban in China isn’t lift though, she has to sort out other markets on her own.

I have followed this lady since I saw her in the chinese production "The Empress" - Wu Ming Yan. I recommend it if you like cultural extravaganzas. so gratifying to see other cultures represented in media and fashion these days. things have certainly changed since the 70s. The fashion taste is exquisite. loved the leopard ball gown also. amazing. and the vietnamese designer for butterfly dresses. wow

1. She only appeared in one scene in Iron Man 3 Chinese audience only.
2. 355 was filmed after the tax scandal, Chastain as the producer was casting her friends, it wasn't about Hollywood or China's influence. Filming started in 2019 and ended in 2021. Then the movie was released in 2022.
3. She was in excommunicado from acting in China for five years but she's been very active in the fashion spotlight and making appearances at the Cannes film festival alongside Chastain. She only disappeared for 3 months in 2018 July - September during the investigation.

@@redacenote But it's not beyond mine to judge her. She was THE HIGHEST PAID actress at her peak. And one with most endorsement deals. She almost a quarter of billion back then. But she have a gambling habit with her husband. Often lost a lot of money in casino.
And during that era, government only charge 7% but she still cheats. After her scandal, government is angry... so they increase from 7% to 47%.
She nearly cost Bankruptcy to all Filming Companies in China. NEARLY ALL. She is most hatred actress in China of right now. Not of her personality, but her action lead to all actor & actress lose automatically 40% extra of all their income to government.

I have always said it that she need to come live and work in the west,that is where she belongs, and please do not talk down on other stars, she just came back and we appreciate her for finding her way again, but do not talk down on others cos she may not catch up the attention like now,Hollywood gives her chance, that China doesn't give to others.
To be fair, she maybe is ONE OF the most famous celebrities in China, however, she is NOT the biggest movie star in China. Me, I don't believe she is known for her movies, just as simple as we all know that Kim Kardashian is big but you won't consider her a professional actress or opera singer. I noticed that when she was gone, it was Dilraba who is shining in every red carpet in China. Her shots, makeup and that... How can explain this, Aura of people who treats Dilraba is like they are replacing Her to Dilraba. Specially the eye makeup, eye makeup I'm telling you, they look the same!
No one can replace No one in the eyes of true fans it’s only those who invest treat humans like that. Diliraba is iconic in her own way and so is FBB. They are from different generations and their steps towards their career and life are different. The fans who support them also have different likings and support as they feel their interest. She's gambler, losing millions of dollars each year to gambling. that's prompt her to cheat the tax.
Tax was only 7%, she still cheat. Because of that, government got angry, and raise the tax to 47%. Making ALL ACTORS & ACTRESSES to lose 40% extra of their income to government, BECAUSE OF HER MISTAKE. China film industry almost went bank corrupted because the punishment was so sudden that many smaller company do not have the budget to carry one because some of those upcoming company, work one project at a time and do not make enough money to get by with 47% income tax.
Also, she's kind of JLO of Chinese Actress, she looked down on everyone, bad mouthing everybody. All older actresses hate her... way before her ban.
