Im old enough to have seen a lot of coaches giving swing tips over the years but I must say this is impressive. I fundamentally believe the right arm being led by the elbow is crucial in the downswing and should be taught very early on with anyone learning the game. This move automatically provides lag in club shaft and if your body rotation is good will also help to stop unhinging the wrists too early. The new one for me was throwing the club up and over the right arm then holding the grip which forces the right arm into the correct position. Well done sir!!!!

Great video! I knew I was doing this, plus the early extension. Didn't know the two were related. Interesting that when I keep my right elbow in the correct position I automatically seem to fire my hips more aggressively too. Thanks!

I’ve used a towel or club cover under my trailing arm for a while and it helped very much. But your instruction and drills go so much further and your explanations of how it all times together are priceless. I’m 72 yo, and in five minutes with your trail arm drills my 9i is almost the distance of my 7i previously with half the effort.
You’re a great instructor, to the point and easy to understand. Biggest props I’ve seen you use is a stretch band and a ball. How simple is that. 👍
I can hardly wait to get to the range and back on the course.

That time of year again! I am a 3 hdcp unable to find the couple strokes less needed to become a scratch golfer. I have hit thousands of golf balls each year with lesson upon lesson with no-one addressing my right elbow. Time to start drills. After many videos these are the best drills I have come across to keep my right elbow from throwing off my consistency.

I have been a chronic chicken wing guy my whole golfing life. I spent yesterday looking at many videos for ATM rotation. What your video and many others I watched talked about, was the right elbow. This seemed too be something I wanted to try.
I went to the range warmed up normally them tried to do drill 1 for feel. Didn't remember drill 2 but I rolled my elbow, palm down. Then brought the club to my right hand parallel to target line. Then took a little more back swing and turned through. After just a few attempts, I was making a more descending blow, divots more forward, and even more carry.
Came home and reviewed drill 2 and 3 do I can do them tomorrow. This will be something I am going to stick with and develop.
Thank you for posting videos that are very well explained, and demonstrated.

One year later, how effective has this drill been for you in getting that right elbow out in front to flatten the plane??
I'm prepared to perform this drill for upwards of 30 minutes two times a day IF this drill works.
      Why?
Because something tells me drill #1 featured here IS the definitive golf drill to perfect.
And if it is, I want to go there.
I love ❤️ how when you're turning / pulling the left hand, how a bye product of this movement is that you can FEEL, perhaps for the first time ever, how the left foot cork screws into the ground and naturally builds the left leg post (left leg straightening which becomes the anchor to build a huge amount of centrifugal force in the swing.)
Could it be the holy grail of golf drills? I don't know but what I'm gonna do is this.
For ten days I'm gonna avoid hitting balls.
I'm only going to perform this drill for thirty minutes twice a day. That and more stretching.
Then after ten days I'm gonna head to the practice field and hit balls after drilling this drill. 💪

Thank You. This has become the answer for my early extension. Used this concept has my only swing shot for years when I could play to a 10. After reading about getting a wider arch and playing that for many miserable years, I eventually could not use the elbow connection to hip; got me out of sink for years. Finally, this clear explanation puts everything in sync and I am back to hitting the ball like I did 20 years ago!!

  • @fntsmk
    @fntsmk Год назад

Sorry for commenting two years too late mate but... your video instantly showed me why I hit a lot of fat shots, even though I had learned how to otherwise shallow the club, and that was because my trail elbow was always going behind me. I've compensated by keeping the trail elbow a bit more tucked in to keep it from moving backward, whilst still keeping the left hand pushing on the handle and thereby keep the lead arm straight. Thanks for a great video! Cheers mate!

This drill forces me to depend upon my rotation in order to strike the ball with force. It forces me to be patient about striking the ball. The excitement I felt when I was having problems involved unavoidably pulling the hands down to quicken the club head speed. Hogan never talked about club head speed. He talked about strength in his right hand when smashing the ball. He would have loved to have the strength of three right hands.

We don’t think much about the sweet spot on the clubs today. The clubs have a much bigger sweet spot than clubs made fifty years ago. But if we are to conform to proper form we must get the full potential of the clubs power. We still need to hit the ball in a particular spot on the club face. The spot is still the size of a dime. The created forgiveness on today’s clubs allows the weekend warriors to get off more good shots. To swing like a pro we have to hit the exact spot on the club head.
