Absolutely love my retractatrike and Skymax!!! Hundreds of hours on my Star!!!
Yes sir it is a sweet setup for sure!
I agree Rick, the best paramotor is the one you can afford and suits your needs. I have flown a few different styles over the years and each for a different reasons. You seem really happy on that trike. Good luck with your future instructor coaching.
Thanks Giles!!
Congratulations to Gorilla Ground on new parts and recovery!
One of the best videos yet..glad Ground is back. Looking forward to tomorrow and the new guy from Englewood. See you at the hangar headquarters in the morning....
PPG Flatliner....
Great. Good to see Dad back!
Thanks Dennis, great to have him back!!
Great review. Very glad to see Dad is feeling better and up and about.
Thanks brother!
Glad to hear Ground is doing well! Great video!
That trike is soooo sweet!!!!!!!
GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK GORILLA GROUND !!!!
Am so glad Gorilla ground is fine thank the good lord for that👍 welcome back guys.
Thanks Brother!!
Gorilla ground: glad you are OK. I just had my left hip replaced three weeks ago! I’m a young 50-year-old man and I’m hoping to get back to flying soon!
I fly a Trike also !! Glad Gorilla Ground is feeling better !
Where has time gone! So cool you fly a trike now.
Great review Gorilla! I just ordered the Retracta. I figure it's the best of both worlds and and will get me back in the air sooner after my crash. I hope to get up your way and fly with ya guys this summer.
Great to see Gorilla Ground doing Well. 👍😁
I'm so glad gorilla ground was strong enough to beat covid. And those retracts are a great idea. Great video 👍🏻
That's definitely a good looking machine for sure. I'm glad Gorilla Ground is feeling better from that crap. My father was just tested positive for it also and just now feeling sick. 😢 Anyway thanks for the good videos and stay safe guys.
Thank you Kevin. I hope your dad gets through it okay and doesn't have it too bad
I also fly the Retracta trike, love it.
I'm lovin it already!
To Gorilla Ground: I am so glad that you survived the page. I am 59 and have been warned by my doctor. If I get it, I die.
Im 61 and my Doc said the same thing!!??Ha ha I guess they think we're old or something.
Your Dad is so cool!
Yeah he is awesome! So good to have him back on the field
I’m YOUR biggest fan!!!
Made my day!!
Gorilla Ground- might just be shaming me into getting back in the air. Glad you are well. Sky Max gear looks interesting.
Good on ya Gorilla Ground for beating that bloody Covid crap, well done :) Mr. PPG Gorilla me being a person that has never flown a paramotor Im afraid that if I did the Retracta trike would NOT be something that I would even want to try it looks so damn flimsy and unsafe , what would happen if you get carried away with the moment and forget to extend the nose wheel again , seems to me that you could get some serious bumps and bruises , I hope you dont forget!
Stuart, I've already tested that out! It will be in the next video! Spoiler, no bumps, bruises, or damaged gear!! BTW once you see it in person you would realize this thing is solid and sturdy. I'm just huge and make everything look flimsy.
Nice one! - I tend to leave my front wheel 'out' front for a foot rest, having the option though is great eh!
Working to find my groove E. Love to meet Gorilla- and all on adventure.
Come on down and join us anytime Bob!!!
That’s the coolest thing I’ve seen !!!
Thanks Sean I'm digging it big time!
very good from italian paraglider! it is possible to buy and where? how much money?
Thanks for sharing! What is the material of the frame? Seems like it stands the tension of lines during the wing inflation while usually 2-ring frames are recommended for trikes.
The hoop and spars are titanium. I've been flying and training on this one and haven't had any prop/cage contact yet. Very strong and still very light. Literally have a dozen students first flights on this unit
This set up is pretty much what I am looking for! Question though, does the front wheel lock out in both positions? Does it vibrate at all? Great video. Thanks
It just stays in position on its own. Your feet hold it in place forward and thrust holds it back when retracted.
@@PPGGORILLA thank you.
Will it fit a Miniplane? Thanks!
Didn't they originally come up with this idea so you could use a speed-bar with a trike? I like the idea of the light trike...great video...thanks.
Yes that's correct!
can you use a speedbar on that trike?
Very nice. It seems like I would leave the front wheel out so I could rest my feet. What is the largest benefit to retracting? Enable use of speed bar? Great video.
Yes Ben, it allows speedbar and full weightshift. I get tired of having my legs/feet in the same position all the time so it's nice to switch up and let them hang sometimes.
That's pretty cool.
Is the front wheel fixed and doesn't have steering? How do you correct if needed other than brake imput?
The wheel is steerable. My students are taught to use mostly wheel steering
What's the price on the trike and if it's parajet maverik
I need one of these. But not sure how the Atom 80 will do. Probably be a long climb out.
Trike only weighs 17 lbs
@@PPGGORILLA shoot not sure why I thought it weighed like between 27-32 lbs. Glad to hear that it only weighs 17 lbs. I got to get one now. Thanks
@@PPGGORILLA Any idea how much they are?
@@434holly $1600 I should have some more coming in mid-January. They can be custom built to fit any paramotor just need measurements and pictures
@@PPGGORILLA I have the Skymaxstar frame.
Thats fancy
How much does the "Retracta Trike" cost? I looked on the web site and I could not find price. You know how the questions go: 1) How far? 2) How fast? 3) How much? and 4) How high? Thanks
As far as you want, as fast as your wing can fly, $1600, Stay low! It's cold up there!🙈🙉🙊
Can your foot land that unit
Thanks for the video! I, too, just got a SkyMax star and Retracta Trike. Mine were from Kevin in Indiana. I am looking forward to having you as an in-state Skymax dealer (parts?). My engine is an Atom 80, very smooth. Question: Is your hang points setup good for you? I am advised that in flight, the front wheel should be about six inches above level with the rears. This video suggests that all three wheels touched down at about same time. I wouldn't want my front touching first.
It's hard to see in this video due to camera angle but the mains touched down first. My hang test put the front wheel about 10" higher than the rear. Check out this GEAR UP LANDING!!! ruclips.net/video/GEASJ8uu2Zg/видео.html
@@PPGGORILLA I guess the low front wheel view was my misjudgment of a 360 camera perspective. Yes, I had seen your wheel-up landing. I wish my bar had a spring-ball latch in back (like the axle does) instead of that bolt & nut. Otherwise, the trike and Max are great.
I don't understand the reason for this. Is there any aerodynamic benefit, or is it just for the weight shift?
Weight shift and no wheel in your field of view. I fly foot and trike and this is the same as foot launch with the wheel up
@@PPGGORILLA cool, thanks! That makes sense.
hey gorola, how much this trik cost?
Love the retractable gear! Is weight shift affected much by the addition of the trike?
The weight shift is incredible. I can't tell any difference between foot launching and having the retracted trike as far as weight shift
2nd request: Will it fit a Miniplane?
Sorry Bill, I must've missed the 1st request. They are custom built to fit any paramotor. I just need frame measurments and pictures.
@@PPGGORILLA Sorry 'bout that pointed question Go but I'm interested. 71 with Neuropathy from A.O. in Vietnam, legs don't work. I looked at your website but could find no email contact. I guess I'll call you tomorrow Friday. Thanks for your help! Bill

@@PPGGORILLA Got it Go! Emailing you now.
I like!
Let me know when you're ready and I'll order you one for the parajet Maverick. $1,600
What is the point of sliding the front wheel back? I see no advantage of it.
It gets the wheel out of your field of view but most of all it allows full weight shift control for hands off steering.
What's the cool thing about retracting the front wheel when flying? Drag is the same... Laying your feet on the front wheel is much more comfortable than legs hanging... The only cool thing about it is that you can fit it better in your car, but other than that I dont see any advantage
Come on Barrio! It's just cool!! Really though, Full weight shift and its easier to cross your legs to shift weight from side to side. Other trikes I've flown have very little or no weight shift. It also cuts down the front to back rocking in rough conditions by not having that weight (wheel) forward so far. I get tired of my legs being in the same position for long flights, feels good to hang em sometimes.
@@PPGGORILLA That's because you haven't seen my trike. I have my feet on wheels for takeoff and let my feet hang during flight if I want to. And I can also cross my legs for weight shift piloting... ( I cant post photos here )
@@neosugus Yeah I got ya Bro. I'm not saying it's better than sliced bread or anything. I have flown 5 different trikes and this one has the best weight shift yet. Perhaps not for everyone but it is for me! Blue skies Brother!!
@@PPGGORILLA I agree. No doubt It's a good trike in the "small" trikes category. In the future I want to modify my actual DIY trike to make it retractable for even better transport. It already fits mounted in the car, but with retract option it will fit even better. ;)
Footlaunch ???
WTF?! With the wheels "up", that looks like the PPG equivalent of a Short 360. I suppose it's no more embarrassing than owning/driving a 1985 Yugo, or cruising bike week on a moped painted in rainbow colors...but you've got balls flying that in public.
I will happily archive this comment from a FUTURE TRIKE FLYER!!!!!!
@@PPGGORILLA You know it's inevitable...
I used to own a yugo and it was like driving a street legal go cart. It was fun as hell to drive. Imagine if paramotorists complained about having to service their engines so much. My yugp wasnt anymore less reliable
