    I have had my Debut Pro for awhile now, and have upgraded the power supply ('Highpowerit'), added the aluminium subplatter, the puck, and upgraded the stylus assembly to a 2M Blue. It sits on a Pro-Ject wall shelf and runs into a Pro-Ject Phono Box S2 Ultra powered by an Accu Box S2 lipo rechargeable battery supply. The sound is superb IMHO. I auditioned a Rega and a Fluance before buying the Debut Pro, but the Debut Pro won convincingly for me! The fact you can upgrade the Debut Pro after purchase was also a factor for me - the upgraded deck sounds even better than the stock item!

    Thanks for the in depth discussion on the Debut Pro. I currently have a Project Essential III and wanting to jump to an entry audiophile level table. I'm debating with myself between Debut Pro vs Rega P3. Here in Australia, the Debut Pro is $1200AUD with the pick-it cart, and the Rega is $1400AUD with no cart, and $1800AUD with elys cart. Which is more than US$100 difference. This being potentially my "forever" table (lol), my head is saying the debut Pro is a no brainer value for money wise, but my heart is wondering if I would be missing out on anything the Rega P3 would provide that I might want. With the difference in price I can even get a 2M black cart in the future for the Debut pro and still come out spending less than the Rega with say, and exact cart. Love some feedback to help me decide. Thanks

    Good vid. 👍 Just subscribed.
    Am an owner of two Pro-Jects for many years, Perspective Carbon II w/ Sumiko MC & Carbon Carbon dc w/ 2M Blue, both also w/ solid tweaks over yrs.
    The new Pro's upgradability re: new MC carts is truly its best NEW asset IMO. Of course the platter is VERY good.
    Will be a fun examination / comparison btwn the $1,000 Pro and the upcoming $2,000 X8; all things being relative during a comparison.

      I was actually thinking of the Fluance RT85 when I mentioned the superior platter...best of both...ha!

    There is also the Pro-Ject X1, which is almost at same price. Which one is better?

    How does this table stack up to the RPM 3 Carbon? They seem to be very similar except the design and are close in price. I know the RPM 3 has ceramic bearings, but is that a game changer as far as performance?

    I recently purchsed the Pro-ject debut III.. only paid $249 plus tax, I'm in North east what would be the next or better cartridge upgrade for this turn table?.. I have some vinyl that I would like to have them compete with my cd listening sound

    I bought the Debut Pro here in Oz last year.....the cartridge is the "Pick It Pro" which is essentially a Project modified Ortofon 2M Red.....so when it comes time to replace the stylus you can grab a Red or....as I'm sure many of us will do - grab the Blue stylus...instant upgrade without buying an entirely new cartridge. Win! Then there's the acrylic platter upgrade....and the sub platter....and the power supply....

    • @michaelb9664
      @michaelb9664 5 месяцев назад

      The acrylic platter is not an upgrade on the Pro. Also an ‘upgraded power supply’ is for fixing ground loop issues. Unless you have humming problems changing the power supply is totally pointless.

    Is your debut pro entirely silent? I hear the platter turning when I stand in front of it. Is that normal? Got any solutions?

    I always despair when people say new TTs are "best under 1000" . I picked up a project 2xperience SB which is superior to a new debut pro for 700. This offers a tonearm you find on higher x8/9 models! The fact the 2xperience is older has not diminished it's value as it's been looked after because generally people paying 2000 to start will care that bit more about their high-end product.

    I'm currently looking around for record players. Naturally, the various models from Pro-Ject caught my eye. What about the Argon TT-4? I like it better than the Pro-Ject models so far.

    So the Debut Carbon Evo has a better platter, same cartridge and a carbon fiber tonearm...what makes the Pro worth more than the Evo?

    • @ianwhite9149
      @ianwhite9149 Год назад +3

      John -- superior build quality, tonearm has better bearings, platter is very substantial, and it sounds better; cleaner, tighter and deeper bass, and it delivers an improved sense of presence and resolution.

    Not very much pleased by this one. I own this high marketed peace of blimp: mdf+plastic+ortofon om10 since 2012. The results are not soothening: a plastic, not at all dynamic sound, bass is well expressed by quantity, but not very thorogh, a big deal of wow and flutter, highs are at least modest.
    The real tt must be heavy. Before Pro-ject in 90's I owned the russian war production b-side the electronica ap-017s-that was the bomb. Direct drive, heavy body >10kg, low wow & flutter, the electronically damping fiddled light aluminium tonearm, strobes... Could pro-ject compete with that USSR monster? Consider.

    • @lacieb4585
      @lacieb4585 Год назад

      Forgot to say, the tweak: I changed the original steel pro-ject platter with the rather heavy 1 cm width glass disc-platter, ordered at glass worksop, but as the russians jokely speak: Не в коня корм! (No use to feed he horse). Dynamics lightly move up, but all in all sound have stayed dull.(( Fony!!!

      @@ecoustics, pre-amp is well advertised in Europe - Cambridge Audio Azur 651p; cartridge om Ortofon series has well definition, as it is very successful flat afc script (but on other tables ;-).
      CA 651p has the slightly rising upper mids and highs while hearing, which have been purchased to remedy the overall dullness of pro-ject turntable script, ....but no use, though.
