  • Kelly shows us how to use the Fishpond Net Release. This is THE best net release on the market and the best way to carry a net for anyone using a vest or jacket that has a D-ring by the neck.
    Check it out on our website:

    I’ll add that one can refine the position of the handle by moving the net attach loop right or left on the net hoop. Located in the center, the net will hang vertical with the handle in the center of the back as is shown. Moving the attach point can move the handle right or left. I’m tall with a somewhat long torso. Moving the vest back attach point down a few inches below the normal location with the hoop attach off center puts the handle in an easier to reach position. Just have to play with it and experiment.
    Kelly, I’m sure you’ve had other things going (a well deserved vacation, maybe) but I’ve sure been looking forward to your return.
    Thanks for the videos, some of the best. Love the Border Collie, by the way. They’re little sweeties and almost too intelligent for a dog.

    Thanks Kelly! I almost had it right, had the rubber attached to the net by the handle, very challenging to get magnets to find each other. Now we know. (and knowing is half the battle, GI Kelly Joe, an American hero)

    I agree with Kelly. I have this net release on all the vests I own. I hook them up a little differently than Kelly did.

    That Fishpond Net Release has been sitting in the bottom of a drawer for years because Fishpond didn't include directions for it's use and I couldn't figure out the best way to make it work. Now I can dig it out of the drawer and put it to use.

    Thanks for the video. Great information and much better explanation of how it works. However...agree with one of the previous comments that the magnet is too strong, in addition to being hard to find magnet to reattach.

    Great now everyone knows about these and how they work , this will slow down my net collecting . I have a very nice collection of nets I’ve found over the years on the rivers but I’m particularly proud of all the Borden’s and Fish Pond nets I have . Oh well hopefully it’s just a fad . I was kind of hoping that this was going to be at least 30 minutes but no I guess I will have to wait for some winter tying videos. Thanks for the video

      Same, I don't like the weight of the magnet on the net end, and I also don't like the wet net up against the top of my vest. Tried it both ways, definitely prefer it handle up.

      Yeah I agree with you guys. handle up and it works great for me and is more comfortable for me. Plus you can see the tether getting tangled in the net as he’s doing it.

    I don't understand what the issue is with hanging it behind you with the handle up or why that's "ridiculous". Works perfectly fine for me.

    Been using this for several years (correctly). The magnet is way strong, actually too strong I think. Can be quite hard to break it free from back of vest/jacket. I actually have 2-3 layers of electrical tape over one side of magnet to lower it strength.

  • @emidyl24
    @emidyl24 Год назад +1

    I find the magnet on the confluence just too strong, it's near impossible to pull and have it release without it actually almost ripping off my d-ring/tag. I've rigged it as a side mount with my FP Canyon creek. YMMV

    Anybody else deformed the split ring pulling the magnets apart?
    The magnets are so strong that the split ring split and both of the magnets were still together. Now I need a split ring strong enough to handle 11 lbs of magnet pull force.

  • @dtrout

    I’ve never liked that setup. Fish goes in the net and rubs fish slime off .... then transfers the slime and the river water to your vest or shirt. But “dangle by the handle” and the wet slime is on the back of the waders, below a short vest. Also due to shoulder damage it’s much easier to reach the handle behind my head vs trying to get it in my mid back. I tend to use my smallest net when wading. If I’m in the Fishcat 9, I have a good size Nomad on deck.

  • @jonkirk2029
    @jonkirk2029 2 дня назад

    So this is just straight up wrong. They literally have a video on the product page on the fishpond website showing you how to use it, and this is not it. You're supposed to do it the way he says is "ridiculous", not have the leash stretched across the length of the net, which is actually ridiculous. No idea where this guy got the idea that this is how it's supposed to be used but this is not correct at all.
