The Medieval 2 music always gets me in the mood. Probably spent most hours on any total war game on Medieval 2. Great game. Scotland are a great faction IMO
The black boxes are annotations. You can just x out of them if you want to see the mini map. The cover the mini map so it doesn't give away who gave the battle replay
In this battle I sent my men on a good old highland charge. It was a glorious charge but my men were alone. Luckily the moors came to save our arses but it was not enough and we were repelled with heavy casualties on the right flank when the enemy armies joined together. Our noble allies were cut off and we held as long as we could, but we could not hold off our foes and we fell back, but not before giving it to those damn bankers! Gg to bpth teams and im still amazed we won lol, thpught my disastrous charge screwed us over there
Hey Apollo. The faction icons in the corner there were a great idea, makes it really easy to keep tabs on what's going on. It's a lovely channel you got here! Hope your new website is a success. ;)
Just wanted to say thanks Pixelated Apollo for everything you do! You've helped me at becoming a better Total War player, so freaking much by watching your videos. Every one your videos has made me laugh, cringe, and rejoice. I can never wait to watch the next video you make.
No offense intended to either you or to PA, but im an even better tw player than PA is because i study real military tactics and use them in the game, ive also been to a military school and learned how to really be a real life general... I've even given HIM advice and pointers that he actually uses and shares on the channel. He will never admit it, though, in public... but a lot of his skills i already knew before he made his channel, and i told him stuff he didn't know about actual military tactics rather than just the game mechanics related meta...(like the 2 handed glitch, for example) everyone knows that you can exploit the 2 handed glitch, but that's a game mechanic, not actually a real strategy, its not something possible to exploit in real life... i taught PA some real tactics via the comments section on his videos several years ago and more recently, and he actually uses them and even shares them with all of you... (Of course, he's not going to say that he learned it from me, though, probably doesn't even remember it was me who told him). An example is that i told him about the fact that armor plays a role in the 2-handed glitch... 2 handers with armor will not suffer from the 2-handed glitch because the armor canceled out the effect. Yes, they are slower, but they also deal more damage and most will pierce enemy armor while the sword and shields type infantry will not be able to pierce armor at all thus making their "faster" attacks unless because they are "missing" their attacks since they can't pierce armor. It takes in comparison 10 or 20 hits from feudal knights to kill a dismounted English knight while 1 or 2 hits from the latter will 9 out of 10 times kill the feudal knights instantly, especially with tbe greater charge bonus... i also taught him about not committing all your forces at once, concentration of fire from missile troops, loose formation being better for missile troops most times, and how to probe for weaknesses in a line as well as flanking manuever ideas that he STILL uses... among other things. I used to comment all this info back in the day when his channel was just starting out, and he wasn't very good yet, but the older ones are no longer available for some reason...(deleted possibly? Or yes, i was under a different account name) He'll NEVER tell you he learned from me, though. But i KNOW he read my comments because he suddenly got really good, really fast and literally used my same tactics i had just commented to him... im not trying to take credit for him being so good, but i want the credit and recognition for myself being that good as well, if that makes sense...
I noticed that when the English team was on the hill, the French and Byzantine team left their entire right flank open to attack while trying to advance on the English right flank up to the hill... there was absolutely no cavalry ready to defend from any attacks by the mounted English knights... if the English player noticed this he could have and should have sent the English knights around said right flank, taking out the trebuchets and hitting the French infantry from the back, he should have done this instead of sending the knights into tne fray of danish on the hillside attack (which we both agree was too little too late anyway) i understand that in the heat of the moment he probably didn't know about the flank. But if he had, his team could have won sooner... That's just bad generalship, in my opinion... or not paying close enough attention...
Just came back after being away from your channel for awhile. 12k subs!!! seems like yesterday when i found your channel and you had less than 2... Happy for u man! keep doing what you are doing
This kinda reminded me of a historical battle on THFE's channel about Alexander the Great: a long line of infantry fighting, a massive cav battle off to the side, etc. The factions do not remind me of that battle what so ever.
What kind of hardware you are currently using? Saw your 4 vs.4 battle in Rome total war 2 earlier and I was wondering....You have to use a monster of Pc :O
France played a bit bad... For me, I have my strategy : Infantry + a lot of Cavalry. I fight with infantry and one cavalry against ennemy, and at the moment, the rest of cav conturn the battle to fight at reverse with a charge... Just simple and horrible for the ennemy.
i personally dont like unflat maps because it gives a great advantage to one side so i can sit on a hill waiting for enemy and my enemy can sit on another hill waiting for me and it goes forever. and England plays like he is having his dinner during the fight or watching a movie or something :D
you like battles on terrains like this apollo but what happens both sides sits on their hill and refuse to attack? which is the reasonable thing to do.. grassy plain is more fair
Guys, consider installing Darthmod. Pikemen will never drop their pikes, the two handed weapon glitch is non existent, and cavalry can fight much longer to infantry, except when they are using spears of course. The AI are smarter, increasing their IQ from a potato to a doll, and Elephants, never mind the elephants.
Yes, because who was actually successful against the German Blitzkrieg except for the english channel and Russia after losing hundreds of thousands of square miles of territory and the fiercest winter ever.
Joshua Smith-Monaghan well few was but france had one of the strongest armies in the world, but the french had some of the worst generals, and the germans had some of the best generals. Thats why france got defeated so fast. Not because of their soliders.
+Monster ted I disagree. France lost because of a lot of things and not solely at the hands of Russia. Spain and Portugal was a mess, Napoleon, his brother and his generals failed to get a hold of Spain and its peoplel and it became a permanent drain of troops and resources, plus the british/Wellington started to push from Portugal. Napoleon rather curiously never really bothered to take things into his own hands and settle the matter in the iberian peninsula once and for all, instead he created another war, against Russia and therefore also another drain of soldiers and resources. Plus Napoleon and french had a production issue, while the british were producing a million bayonets per year enough to arm its own man and even sell or give away to its allies (Russoa, Prussia and Austria-Hungary), while France produced something like 150K per year and at best I think something like 350 cannon a year, the russians produced 500/year and had the army with more cannons world-wide. There is also a definite change in this period for french people, you see despite France having invaded and beaten to a pulp other major countries like Prussia or Austria-Hungary, theit people never really gave up on their monarchy/leaders, while the french and part of the army abandoned Napoleon when the Coalition began to enter France itself. When Napoleon and France's sovereignty needed it the most, that's when its people gave up on them, rather shamefully. In WW2 it was not only the generals who were bad, the people pretty much gave up as well when the germans circumvented the Maginot line, a poor display by both the top and the bottom. I must say that France might have been the only able country (in terms of fighting back) that in recent times surrendered in my view too quickly when the enemy transposed its borders, WW1 being the exception.
It's really unfortunately that Medieval 2's pikemen are so difficult to use. I love pikes, and more specifically, I love Renaissance warfare. Shame there are no video games to do something like that :(
I know it does, unfortunately the game takes so long to get to that point that I've already pretty much won. I've been playing a mod called The Italian Wars which does it well enough, But, the map is pretty small. Just Italy, some of France, some of Africa, some of Germany.
french, and brave in one sentence..... really, a single building in Russia took the germans more causalities than when the germans took over the entire city of paris.
peasant crossbowman, Urban Militia.... their name was so misleading, instead they are some of the best infantries in the game. question is why CA design units like that
The Medieval 2 music always gets me in the mood. Probably spent most hours on any total war game on Medieval 2. Great game. Scotland are a great faction IMO

An excellent field battle. This is why I hate the grassy flatlands, because battles on any other map are so awesome.

french miltary history one of the finest of all (exept 1940)
Yes, because who was actually successful against the German Blitzkrieg except for the english channel and Russia after losing hundreds of thousands of square miles of territory and the fiercest winter ever.

And the fall of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
Ghent Prist France lost in the napoleonic wars because of their invasion of russia overall france did wery well in the napoleonic wars

It's really unfortunately that Medieval 2's pikemen are so difficult to use. I love pikes, and more specifically, I love Renaissance warfare. Shame there are no video games to do something like that :(

Just register at the network and play :D
Can you give me a link? Where to register ?
well you can do it on the game itself
Chaos is a ladder.....
Play a game as Poland. The polish have nice looking units but I think they're underused.
Feaisal Aldosary because poland is kinda poop. Unless you rush with them
People just aren't skilled enough to use the polish units the way their supposed to be used.
It's weird how the battles in my past when I was a complete noob are posted but recent ones I did aren't...huh
No not when you look like a complete idiot who gets the least kills...
Supreme Archer If you thought me losing 4 units of cav in a few seconds and bringing 3 trebs that even apollo would agree did nothing is epic...
wow
Supreme Archer The actual battle was epic, but honestly it could have been 3v4 without me there and it wouldn't change as much.
Kman the Nub dude, I got annihilated early on leaving my team down one army lol
You still held your own pretty well, I would be proud of that stand.
You were Scotland right?
I love it when the English win 😊😊😊
