    Scenario: in an effort to keep these empires intact, the Holy Roman Empire and the Byzantine Empire forge the Roman Alliance, to preserve the legacy of Rome and stand strong together. France, an enemy of the HRE, allies with Portugal, a close Catholic friend, while Venice and the Turks ally to take over Byzantium and become the largest powers in the Aegean. Both of these alliances declare war on this new Emperor's Alliance, and decide to work together for more success, and when their armies finally meet, the Holy Roman Empire sends a relief army to save their allies.
    Congratulations on 10,000 subs! I love this channel, and am so glad to see it grow! I got Medieval II when I got the money, seeing as it got great reviews, and I had no idea what anything was. Thanks to your channel, I've found out how to play this game, and it is definitely my favorite in the Total War series! I really like to play as Jerusalem with the Stainless Steel mod now, the Templars looks SOOO awesome! Anyway, I love your videos, and here's to 10,000 subs more!

      ***** I played a battle recently, I wish it was more suitable to upload (the defenders were just crushed) just so you could try and make a scenario...
      Because the attackers were England, Spain, Portugal and the Moors, and the Defenders were Venice and The Byzantine Empire.

      FlipUltraHD As the kingdoms of Castile & Leon begin to shift their focuses towards the Italian peninsula, they run into a regional power to block their way of expansion: Venice. Venice has managed, through shrewd diplomacy and bribes through money received from tariffs and trade, has managed to get the might of the Byzantine Empire on their side, even after the fiasco that was the Fourth Crusade. Seeing this, Spain calls for peace in Iberia, and creates an Iberian alliance, answered by everyone except Aragon. Portugal has had close ties with England, and calls their good friend to join the alliance. England agrees. They declare war on Venice and Byzantium, and work their way to Venetian lands. Threatened by the might of the coalition, Venetian & Byzantine armies retreat to a nearby stronghold for defense, and prepare to hold against the attacking Anglo-Iberian forces.

      @IainDoc15 9 лет назад +12

      JustAMetalHead Yeah, these kind of victories are really cinematic and all, but it does have a fair bit of fridge logic attached. The enemy is just going to rally and immediately attack them again seeing as how they have much more troops

    • @happyfreestyler
      @happyfreestyler 9 лет назад +14

      +IainDoc15 In the "Men Remaining" Tab you can see the follow up battle would be almost even numbers. 22 Troops left doesnt include the wounded on the battlefield. Also a combined force of 4 nations would not rally anytime soon without their leaders and plans intact. Realistically and logically it depends on who owns the southern european region that HRE and Byzantines were defending a settlement in.

    A French army, supplied and supported by the Portugese and Venetian fleets, landed in Asia Minor with the hope of outstanding the alliance of the Byzantines and HRE. However, a German relief force arrived and, after breaking into the city, supplied the Byzantines with food and joined them as a garrison. Thus came about the battle. After the battle, a peace treaty was signed which gave the newly resurgent Byzantines large parts of Anatolia and resulted in cooperation between the two heirs to Rome, leading to the eventual restoration of east and west Roman empires along the ancient imperial borders. So began the second golden age.

      @Bunters196 8 лет назад +23

      I can't get into Warhammer at all, I can honestly say I've loved every TW game (including the ones people call bad). But not Warhammer.

    • @WanderRadioX
      @WanderRadioX 8 лет назад +11

      Personally I do love Warhammer and it's been the source of a lot of joy and entertainment for me. However with the way the siege battles are set up, it falls short (Way, way short) of what it might have been. When I first get a Total War game, I jump into a campaign. I'll try one and then another, etc, until I'm burnt out on trying to conquer the world. What do I do then? I hop over to custom battles- specifically siege battles. This is what I've always done when it comes to TW, and I've set up hundreds of unique sieges in both attack and defend scenarios from Rome 1 to Attila. I get near limitless entertainment from doing this and seeing how each battle plays out. And then I got to Warhammer's siege battles. At first I tried to enjoy them, but it became obvious almost immediately that they fell far short of previous games in the series. You are so limited in options on both sides, and if you're the attacking side you have to throw your troops against the walls in a messy wave as quickly as possible lest the defender's towers tear your forces apart. You're really only pushing in one direction in a single push, and lacks so much of the grand strategy previous iterations in the series have offered with their varied siege points and multiple tiers of attack. Really disappointing, and I hope this isn't the direction CA is going to continue going with their siege battles in future titles.

    So my scenario for as to how this battle came to be. I know, it's not going to be very historically accurate, but the whole point of the game is alternate history
    The year is 1468
    The coast of modern day Croatia, the old Venetian fortress at Ragusa has fallen to the Greeks. Having crushed the Kingdom of Hungary, the Holy Roman Empire has been forced to concentrate on the west and south, as the French and Venetian armies are pushing into German lands. The Germans have been forced back to their captured territories and regroup to fight both armies as one. The Turks, having taken over the Byzantine holdings in Anatolia (modern-day Turkey for the geographically challenged), and are looking for a way to crack open what's left of the Byzantine forces.
    The Portuguese, with French aid, have finally rounded up what was left of the Spanish and Muslim resistance in their dominance of the Iberian Peninsula, as well as set up governors and regents in conquered territories in Northern Africa. They use them as military bases, recruiting more men and sweep over the islands of Corsica, Sardinia, and Sicily, wiping out what was left of the island kingdom. Venice, too, aided in this conquest, and so earned the alliance with the Portuguese. The Venetian Doge believes that a crucial strike to retake Ragusa would be the best way to split the Byzantine-German alliance, who have bound in an oath of protection, given their vulnerability from all sides. With France having now firmly advanced deep into Germany and Austria, assemble a large host to assist the Venetians. Portugal also prepares for the coming struggle. The French Constable, Jacques Passon himself has been chosen by the King to lead their men, while the eldest son of the Portuguese monarch, Prince Jahao de Abrantes, assembles his force. The Doge suddenly dies, and his son, Catelano Benelatio, who takes up the leadership of the Italian city-state, is eager to prove himself. The triple-alliance ask for Islamic support, and so the Turkish Sultan gives the Europeans his elite group of assassins, the Hashashim. The Byzantine prince, John Extraticos, was a renowned infantry commander, and volunteered immediately to defend the fortress. Following further advancements from the French, the Holy Roman Emperor has been retreated farther south to keep him safe, but upon hearing word of the possibility of a combined assault on their allies key holdings, the Kaiser raises a force of his own and marches to Ragusa. Kaiser Dietrich VI and Prince John set up their defenses in preparation for hell. The Turkish Hashashim arrive in Venice, eager to serve the purposes of the Sultan. All 4 forces make their approach, finally arriving, mainly by sea, at the final stand of the 2 once great empires.
    (events of the video)
    As confident as he was in his son's capability as a commander, Byzantine Emperor Isaac VIII Extraticos rushed over to Ragusa, only to find on the road what he thought were the remains of soldiers, still carrying their weapons. The blue cross on a field of white, the symbol of the Portuguese monarch, was visible on the men's armor. More bodies were found on the road, this time with white Fluer de Lies. "The French," he thought. When he got to the fortress itself, he found it dead silent. He entered to find a hospital had been set up, trying to care for the many wounded, with only a handful of doctors and surgeons running around trying to keep track of everyone. He counted 22, that he thought curiously, he saw rent chainmail poking out of their clothes. As soon as they saw Isaac, the 22 snapped up, standing at full height, realizing they were in the presence of their liege. "My lord, it is my pleasure to announce to you that we have been victorious here just yesterday," said one of them, but Isaac noticed there was a lot of straining in the German accent. "Excellent, how many soldiers remain standing?" Many of the faces of the 22 fell, and one of them managed to get out, "Just us, sir." Isaac's grin immediately vanished. "22?! Then.. then..." A long pause followed this. "Where's John?" he asked with a bit of a waver in his voice. The 22 soldiers looked at each other, then back to the emperor, and one said quietly, "I think you need to see this." There were still bodies in the streets as the emperor followed them back to the second wall, where repairs were being made into holes in the stone. A massive pile of corpses was still in the gaps and underneath the gatehouse, where many men stood and fell. Upon entering the second layer, Isaac almost turned and ran out of the fortress. The entire street was CAKED with a layer of blood, flesh, and shattered armor and shields. But he stayed where he stood, and followed the other soldiers as they made their way down the alley of bodies. He found it very hard to find solid ground and many times heard something crunch beneath his boot. The soldiers stopped and made a circle around a certain point in the street. A single body, still with glinting armor, but tainted red with a layer of blood. Isaac immediately recognized the preferred armor style of his son John. They then showed him were Dietrich was slain, and Isaac said nothing for a long time.
    2 months later
    Isaac sat motionless at a table, surrounded by various world leaders. He had always hated Sofia, but he could understand why Heinrich, Dietrich's brother, had chosen this spot for a peace convention. He looked coldly at King Phillip X, having been told by one of the survivors that it was mainly French soldiers responsible for the death of his son. The remaining leaders, as well as the new ones that had taken up power after the deaths of the Venetian Doge and the German Kaiser, talked and talked, ultimately agreeing that their losses at the Siege of Ragusa was a price way too high, knowing that the memories of the fallen soldiers would be disgraced and their sacrifice been for nothing if they continued hostilities. The Turks were pushed back and the Greeks recaptured much of Anatolia, forcing the Seljuks back towards Persia, where they would remain.
    Isaac lived out the rest of his days in a quiet solemnity, dying in despair 20 years after the siege.
    Edit: Holy crap that took way longer to write then I thought it would, thank goodness I already had a pretty good idea for the story.

    I find a better tactic at chokepoints is to allow some of their troops to enter and then close the gap that way you cut off the support for some of their troops and create a bit of advantage for yourself. Other wise its just a bit of a slog.i don't know if you understand what I mean.

    The boys in purple and the men in back grasp victory from the jaws of defeat!
    The Roman pantheon were with the successors of the ancient empire this day.
    However, if the Turks had properly protected their grand cannon crew, it alone might've yielded a different outcome. Did he really spend all his florins on so few units? Must be the most expensive units in the game, if so.
    Although the real cause for ultimate defeat for the attackers, I would say, was their overly persistent push on through the inner side wall. After they pushed the choke point back and reached the buildings, they had massed way too many melee infantry there, when they should've re-routed them to re-apply pressure on the other two entries, which would've also given space in the rear of the fighting units for the Naffatuns to continue their onslaught (huge value on those Naffatuns the Turks player got). When they massed past the walls, I didn't see any bombs exploding, so I think they got out of range.
    They would've continued making much more of a dent there than at the end when your units became sparse and there was basically just a line of melee with no men waiting their turn and being sitting ducks for the pots.
    Nonetheless, very well played by the imperials. _Praise the emprahs!_

      @gooscarguitar 9 лет назад +1

      Banzay27 They could have also blasted more holes in the wall. Assuming it's level 1 defences, the towers are pretty weak, they're basically just arrows. The naffatuns would have more than made up for it, as well as simply stretching out the defending troops.

There might be a light joke, but seriously, don't be the guy that does it. Just makes you look like a uneducated little brat, so just don't do it.

      ***** Alright, I will give you the definition in a way your simple pee-brain mind could understand. Political correctness in the sense, is being able to display the proper use of non offensive terms to the public. Faggot, being a major one of these Not Politically correct terms is a word that seems to be part of your daily vocabulary. The fact that you called me a faggot actually didn't bother me as much, but when you started trying to tell me what is and what is not politically correct, that pissed me off. You can be politically incorrect and proud if you want. I can't stop that no matter my beliefs, but don't try to act like you know something that you have no idea about.

You feel like that there needs to be a conflict between these faction because they are so different. Just looking at your units you see how different each faction is from the other.
