Only if they wipe the leaderboard. The top 30 - 50, are cheaters. Since there isn't anywhere near that amount of resource on the map. I won't say what an authentic high score is since I don't want to educate bad actors. HOWEVER, Know that our boy here is easily top 50 legit in the world.
Man, I see a marked improvement in combat. Looks like the mining changes hit a breakpoint in being able to afford combat tech sooner, cascading into long term health savings. Bravo!

Crazy score, you could still save some time underground by pausing the game after activating the probe. It'll continue to scan while paused but the wave timer will stop
Fantastic run. I really love the sound design in this game, especially the sound of the fully powered laser. It sounds like something from Mass Effect or even DOOM 2016.
Thanks. Agreed! The sound and music also created such a good other-worldly, desolate but calm atmosphere, similar to what I remember from playing Metroid Prime for the first time.
Nice play. You had a strong tree and focus on building score multiplier early creates quite a snowball later. I find it interesting how you line up for head-shots on early waves when possible. No idea if that has any added effect.
Love that you changed your pattern to include an "up" ever 3-4 blocks or so in early game, seems worth the limited time investment, especially in areas where it'll take limited hits. Curious as to why you wait so long to upgrade the teleporter resource return speed - it seems you could take less trips back and dig more, then still just do runs when you have a surplus. I guess I'm surprised you don't start it sooner is all? Finally, I'm struggling with when/why to start dumping water into the repellant - I've always questioned if one started delaying waves early if you could get a multiplier rolling much faster and have it be worth the water investment because you get a score rolling earlier. Any thoughts on your strategy? I've always been curious if an early condenser with focus on wave delay / overcharged repellant could slow the game enough to make condenser > probe, but I kind of doubt it would end up shaking out ahead. As others have noted, would love some commentary on things you did well/didn't and strategy. Might be tough to fill 4 hours with but a highlight reel or thoughts in review would be an easy add and help your channel some I'd bet! Thanks for such a great run to watch! What a game.
For TP, they had a patch a bit ago that stopped making it teleport resources during combat, so now it's far too slow to rely on. Because of that, I have to make manual trips anyway, so the only time I need to upgrade it is when I get so deep that a full iron deposit would slow me down quite a bit. Instead, I leave some for the TP and take a lighter weight up to speed me up. Do you mean overcharging the repellant or upgrading it? I only overcharge it for the increased battle ability duration later on when waves get more difficult, and I didn't bother upgrading it because it would've meant less multiplier in the end (or a sacrifice of increased battle ability duration, either way not worth it). I definitely wouldn't replace probe, it's for sure the most important gadget right now IMO, if anything I would go with condenser + probe + lift if I wanted condenser that badly. Thanks, glad you liked it!
@@mathewkostrzewa In terms of rates for the TP versus carrying back, I guess it would somewhat surprise me if the 4 iron 3 water investment wasn't worth taking earlier to facilitate less/faster trips back, even if you can't rely on the TP solely for resource return. My rambling about dumping water into repellant probably could've been clearly spelled out, apologies. In short, I've wondered if a strategy of delaying waves maximally (upgrade repellant early AND overcharge continuously via condenser early) would facilitate the ability to drive resource sendoff / multiplier gain (and thus effective score) earlier enough in the run to be worth the tradeoff for TP or the probe (guessing based on your above response you'd dump the TP in this scenario). I should mention: I assure you, these questions are more meant as a way of me to pick your brain and should not be necessarily taken as criticism - I have no doubt you are far better at this game in execution! Truly impressive combat and foresight. but it's still fun to think about other ways to drive up score that might be viable strategy and as a dad with limited playtime, I may not have as much time/experience to test them against your strategy displayed here, so I instead ask of your experience. Thanks for humoring me and good luck!
@@tgress21 With max speed and carry capacity I don't notice much of a slowdown for a while so I try to focus my resources on other things, but it's certainly possible it could speed things up a bit, I mostly just go off feel. No worries at all! I think it's a tough call since resources are so limited, getting them a bit sooner is good but it's a tradeoff for total resources (including some early iron). Haven't messed around with it much so I'm not sure how exactly the numbers would work out. It's certainly a strategy with a significant value proposition in any case, the condenser overcharge has the added benefit of providing the extra battle ability duration, which is crucial late-game. I didn't take it that way by any means, I like hearing contrasting opinions. My opinions aren't objective or better than someone else's either, and there are definitely people out there that have experimented more than me. @@mathewkostrzewa Thought I would reply with a brief follow up on this conversation. I just pulled my best ever - 41k! Number 40 on leaderboards (Malpractice21). Laser, condenser early with reasonably early auto-overcharge, teleport. General idea was slow the game down so i could mine everything out without the probe to aide me. I'd eventually do spacing of 5 blocks between to search for iron, then when i find a node, mine it out and leave teleport behind to finish while i mine elsewhere in between. My combat was... well, subpar. I'm inexperienced with wither - was using stagnation but now see the light that wither is better, but harder to use. I did have a 2 cobalt tree but i chickened out and mined it early so only lasted 53 waves. Anyway, it looks viable! Thought I'd share this follow up. Not sure if it will be your style or not.
Yeah I haven't played since shortly after this run. The game is awesome and I got my value out of it and then some, but I've got other things keeping me busy now. Glad you liked them!
Do you have interest in min maxxing the other possible categories for this game? like sword prestige vs beam prestige or forced found augment combos(conveyer belt runs, etc)?
If you don't get TP & Probe with the first two relics, do you just bail on the prestige run? Made it to wave 40 last night before the TP dropped (condenser 3 times in a row🤬) and just strip mined the whole map and hemorrhaged cobalt to keep up with the wave difficulty before bailing at wave 52. Ahaaa. 😅
Have reached mid video I believe. Wow, crazy seeing someone play like this. But honest question: at which point did he dig the last ressources, besides the four blocks near his base?
Is there any way of knowing what relic options one gets based on layer colour or something? Feels pointless taking the first relic and getting crap options just increasing wave difficulty.
@@mathewkostrzewa Does shredding them increase the wave difficulty as well? Kind of seemed like it did this run. Surely that wouldn't be worth 2 cobalt?
@@jackbandit2114 Shredding them does as well, but late-game it's an irrelevant amount compared to the natural wave difficulty increase by that point (and also the hundreds of resources that you've collected by that point, 1 relic is equivalent to about 14 iron for wave difficulty). It's only early-game that it makes a notable difference.
I have the first 5 or so wave times estimated so I can keep track with a timer myself. In theory you could go the whole game without it but that would be incredibly tedious.
Hey ! Aren't you missing some blocks like cobalt or water, with this patern ? I feel like you can see when there is iron in the corner of a block, but not other ressources
That's correct, but I'm not worried about water or cobalt early on anyway, I come back and get those with my probe once I clear out the bottom of the map.
dumb question - i notice that you seem to be doing 'head shots' with the laser? does it do more damage or matter? or just something you do subconsciously?
Not really a significant exploit, it's very common and the devs have known about it for a long time and decided not to patch it. It's not what's causing my runs to be put onto the wrong leaderboard, you can test it and see that a run will still make it onto the normal leaderboard if you try. I asked the dev and he said they'll be increasing the limits to the detection in the next patch, I've heard that the detection functions weren't tweaked for the laser buff patch, so they're not currently configured to account for how good a laser run can be.
You know those small enemy that buries into ground. IF you have only a few of those surviving at the end of the wave, let them be, they take their time to reach the dome and do little dmg. If you have a no dmg stun laser upgraded with AI in theory you can stall the wave for a long time.
