I will say. The 23’ R7 was my first bike (dirt bike background) and a year later, it is still holding up for city and back country road riding. I am yet to take it to my local track but I am happy with my purchase still. I am looking to upgrade to a zx10r in 2025. If you aren’t looking to be the fastest, this is a great bike. Even then in my area you won’t see anyone going over 140mph anyways. If you get this bike, get rid of the horrific back fender, turn signals, and mirrors, and also upgrade that god awful stock exhaust, you’ll have a nice bike and more than likely will get compliments on it as I do!

I started (and am still riding on) a 390 Duke, but had a chance to go with my buddy to a Yamaha test ride event nearby today. Test rode the R7, and I definitely want one. I test rode an MT-09 as well, as I’m still pretty partial to naked bikes, and while it was insanely quick, way more powerful than I would feel responsible on, the R7 really captivated me and help prove to me that a hunched over, locked in sport bike isn’t exactly out of the question for me

Finally a mention for the cbr650r, I would be talking the cbr over any of the 650 class, has the best of all. The only thing it lacks is fully adjustable suspension, however the suspension is tuned pretty nice and seems to do a good job all round.

I love the way the cbr looks. I really want one. I have to decide between that and the R7. I personally don’t care about the power difference. I’m leaning towards the R7 because of the way it sounds. I’m just in love with that mean sound.

@alexhejna7481 Personally I prefer the sound of an inline 4, especially on a sports bike. I feel a V twin sounds to much like a trail bike. I'm going to upgrade from my Ninja 400 soon and the R6 has always been one of my dream bikes. I'm really considering the R7 instead because of the torque and more comfortable riding stance. I enjoy longer rides and the R6 probably isn't going to be very comfortable.

It is going to suck dude. R6 is a race bike. You won't care about how much the bike looks when your back already hurts after 1 hour of riding.

You'll be getting more bang for the buck. I have a T7 and I love the cp2 motor, it feels waay more torquey and bad ass than my old R6 did even though the torque numbers are comparable.

I am a beginner rider who choose a r7 as my first bike. I have a 2022 60th anniversary but unfortunately at the start of this month i crashed it I was using it to ride to work. in the rain on the way home I came off as I hit gravel that had been washed out from the side of the road which took the back end away from me normally I’d take my car when it rains but my car was away getting work done it’s a great bike but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be riding mine for a good while partially due to needing to save money for new gear and new bike parts to replace my damaged ones. also damaged my collar bone and finger

I think the cbr 650 r is better, effectively same displacement with more horsepower and a more comfortable riding position. Also you can find used 650 rs and fs for well under half the price of an r7, still a good bike but not good in terms of value for money

@@yk_ifdhall depends on how responsible of a rider you are. Price point, depends on how much you make. For me, perfect: good power, not too little not too much, looks phenomenal, simple cluster and process of operation (doesn’t have any rider modes). Price.. it’s reasonable.

  • @Onereelrider

I put the R7 on the bottom of my list of bikes I've ridden. For me it felt very small in cockpit, which is crazy because I found like the r6 and s1000rr way more comfortable. It's also "slow", so I was miserable riding around cramped and going nowhere fast. To each their own, people love the platform and it looks great, but hard pass for me.

Yammie, while it may be obvious to most that it is a joke to say that a 600 bike is a starter bike, it should not be said that something like the R7 or SV650 is a bike anyone should start on. Nothing that can propel you to 60mph in 4 seconds is anywhere close to a starter bike. I’d say even a 400 ninja or 500 hornet is too fast to start on. Learn on a 300 twin or a single cylinder bike. Learn how to control a 2 wheel machine first before going into the torquey bikes like 500’s and 650’s…. PLEASE
