The pain of being an Empath is so overwhelming in our world of Narcissists. I pray every day for super strength in my 8 yr old beautiful granddaughter whom is the most rarest of all Empaths. That she supersedes her narcissistic parents and though already broken that she will come on top and triumph all.
You remind me of this phrase, Sir: All knowledge from past to present is fascinating, just that they haven't been properly told. Your way of storytelling is very impactful, please keep it up!
You are so much fun, I love watching you and learning from your joyful spirit and your playful approach to such a major, major, major topic. Bless you, and keep shining for the human race, we need you. Thank you for being born. 🦋
I've started to notice this trend some years back, and have even experienced it myself as a college student. I even got caught up with it at some points and would be more hostile to other's blunders. I didn't take the time to understand their conditions at all, and the stigma that causes people to avoid interacting in public only enhanced this isolation feeling. It's also very prevalent in gaming (and the internet in general) where anonymity cause many people to lash out over the tiniest things without stopping to wonder what that other player has been experiencing that day. Personally, I've taken a lot of steps to start acting in a way to bring a more positive outcome in many of these situations and have been much happier myself.
The best way to increase empathy in a socially efficient manner is to make others happy for fun. Making others happy to make yourself happy is the best way to improve empathy
An excellent point! In building those walls against the toxicity of narcissistic family members, you are showing great empathy for yourself, as well as for those with whom you share real love. And you're so right: Being empathetic can hurt a lot, especially when that empathy is thrown back at you with hatred or is just totally ignored and unappreciated. But I believe that, despite these challenges, continuing to try to practice empathy is important and beautiful.
@@citizenjoshkornbluth Thanks for the perspective of being empathetic to myself. Never thought of it that way. And an aside, there is no “off switch” to my brand of empathy 😂 It has taken decades to learn to manage it in a healthy way. Much better at it now than in my younger years. 🥰
Good video, Thank you Josh! it's a fine step in the right direction, i look forward to seeing subsequent installments. i wonder what % of the populace one might consider sub-empathic. Criminologists estimate 5% of the general population are sociopaths, w/ large clusters employed as CEOs and/or incarcerated. There's a lot of hate'n anger out there, culturally it's all relative, e.g driving in the Bay Area is very different to London, in the latter people are courteous and acknowledge each other's road-kindness, in the former a wave is often exchanged for a finger plus grimace. If you're cut off half a dozen times before you get on the freeway each day, it takes a generous soul to smile and ponder the other person's woe(s)... yes, time we applied the brakes to the ragin' ego.
Neural circuits cannot be determine through the process of elimination. The rest of the video was good. But as far as the area of activation or lack there of... this needs to be studied further.
We might call them "flippers" but perhaps, just perhaps ... a dolphin would call them "slippers"? Indeed, a very wise and purposeful dolphin would be inclined to think like that -- going forward quickly through the water and over the waves! Note: the tip of a dolphin's nose is aligned straight with The Arrow Of Time -- but a little curved.
This is nice but not funny, Josh. You are funny and must stay funny. It's who you are. I notice changes over the years: You're showering more and ironing your clothes. Your hair is sometimes combed. You mention being married; maybe that's why all these changes. I can only point out such things but you are the one that must take hold of yourself. I will support you. I have your back, but only in New York.
You cannot use the process of elimination as scientific evidence to prove neurological processes. Are u kidding me? That's disturbing. I'm honestly concerned with where the process of developing scientific evidence is headed. Is this really considered acceptable as scientific proof these days??? No. That's a No for me.
It was great to see you do your show! Excellent and you are as entertaining and smart as ever.

One needs empathy to do that.
This explains a lot. Thanks :-). Loving the shirt and the knowledge!
But being an empath in a narcissistic family can cause one to have to build walls. It’s hard to be empathetic in this world. It hurts a lot.

What about our “empathy” for other species? (Which we are driving into extinction at an unprecedented rate).
Empathy is your ability to pick up on the vibes of other its not really a choice
Cool but ppl with empatyh are taken as a weak.
