Thank you for posting some of these relatively unknown and hidden treasures from Dharwad. Would you have any recordings of Siddharam Jambaldinni and the blind singer, Putturaj (is he the same as Ganayogi Panchakshari) Gawai, I think? Anything more than what is available on RUclips by Basavaraj Rajguru?
+Gautam Mukhopadhaya No, Puttaraj is not the same as Panchakshari gawai. Panchakshari gawai died in the 40s. I am not aware of any recordings of Panchakshari gawai, if any were in existence they would likely be of an archival quality. Siddharam Jambaladinni has two AIR performances, one of which is Bhairav, the other I forgot. It was in the news that they were to release them along with some vachans, I dont believe they ever did but there is a vachana album with Mallikarjun Mansur and Jambaladinni performing together. You should be able to stream it online, it isnt on youtube as far as I am aware.
+Gautam Mukhopadhaya Puttaraj did take taleem from Panchakshari though as far as I know. Panchakshari gawai used to teach blind and disabled people music, that likely leads to the confusion. Unfortunately that is the extent of my knowledge about that singer. I am not aware of Puttaraj being a serious classical vocalist, was this the case?
