For those who say the Acura TLX or RLX looks like a Honda Accord? There are many cars that look similar these days but I challenge you before you sound like an idiot, park the TLX and the Accord side by side then actually drive both and I can almost guarantee you that you'll change your mind. Most people have a lot of talk, but no walk to back up what they say. Stupid comments without any meat to them is pointless. Don't get me wrong, the Honda products are great - but nothing like an Acura. Lots and lots of small distinctions but with big results. Could the styling be a bit more aggressive and sporty? Yes. Could the choice in wheels be a bit more stylish and bold instead of conservative? Yes, but those things can be easily changed with some modifications. Everyone has different tastes, so why not make it like you want it? You can't please everyone I don't care how hard you try.
Thorough review! Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! To me it seems Acura has made it very tempting to skip over the ILX and go straight to this TLX base model which offers more for such a similar price to a loaded ILX.
Great review and love the quality shots. That interior is gorgeous love the burgundy leather. Appreciate your thoughts on the 4 cylinder option as that is something I am seriously considering.
I was seriously considering the new Lexus IS but I am falling in love with this car. Guess I am an Acura fan boy with my six speed 07 TL-S :P. Those sexy brownish red leather seats under all black exterior. This damn good review has already sold me.
Great review, not like some people with a cell phone camera with no clue about the product or has completed their "Do Diligence" how did the V-6 SH-AWD ride? I haven't seen any performance spec like 0-60 on the internet. Is it similar to the previous TL?
I thought It was a blend of the tl and tsx I know that for a fact because u can no longer buy a tl nor a tsx. It also says it in the name. U take the t from tsx and tl. Then u take the l from tl. Then u take the x out of tsx and u get t+l+x = tlx.
I'm guessing Brian you are no longer with Driving Television here in Canada or is this segment a branch of that? As for the car, it just seems boring and yet again proves that Honda/Acura has lost its way. I'm in the market for an SUV or sedan and so far, looks like Lexus will be getting my hard earned $$$$. Appreciate the Review regardless!
Everyday Reviews Appreciate the response. My wife and I are new parents and are strongly considering the Lexus 450H. Financially we cannot afford brand new so we are looking for a 2011-12 model.
And the Accord is an awesome car for sure but it's not an Acura . . . not even close. A point needs to be brought out here that most people don't think about. EVERY car has something that we don't like or wish would have been different or improved. EVERY purchase we make has a compromise in it somewhere. You just have to decide WHAT you want to compromise when you make your decision. The all-new Acura TLX is a HUGE improvement over the 2009-2014 model. Acura went retro when they designed this TLX to look more like the 2004-2008 model which was a very popular body style . . . and they did a great job.
There are many mechanic engineers on RUclips that they say it’s the universal truth, they say the fancy accord, one of them know what they are saying for real? Acura company should hire those genius with no study they can see under everything.
I kinda agree with you. This is pretty well the same screen set up as the new Odyssey and I didn't think it was super intuitive. I'm sure if you owned it for a while that you'd get used to it. I still think that the Chrysler Uconnect system is one of the easiest to use and the graphics look good.
Speaking about Chrysler, I like their new 200c and it's attractive shape and interior layout. For the money especially the Pentastar powerful V6, is it worth while to go this route over the TLX? I know the Acura is a premium upscale automobile but it's close to $50K where the 200C with a V6 is in the low $30K. What is your opinion? If your budget was $35k, which would you choose?
Rudy F Hard to say Rudy, I haven't driven the 200 yet but on paper it seems like quite the value and when I saw it in Detroit this year, it looked a million times better than the previous version. For 50K, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis is crazy value. That is a lot of car for the money - plus over 400 HP.
"You can't miss the signature shield-like grill." No, you really can't... (sigh) By all accounts, it does off good value for the price, but that's about it.
I’m here 6 years later. Great review. Just bought one of the last 2020’s...huge discount...love my TLX!
This is probably the best review i've seen of this car. Thank you so much.
Sold my '13 TL Advance and just bought a low mileage '16 TLX V6 Advance a couple of months ago. This is a great car! Am loving it so far.
Having any problems?
Like transmission

I drove this car hard both 3.5 and 2.4 on a test track.. all I have to say is WOW!!.. Amazing handling and torque on both the 4 & 6 Cyl..
reading this comment makes me excited to test drive. were they sh-awd or fwd?

If I do get one it will be the v6 with the advance package. I already test drove one and I like how drives is very smooth and comfy Love this car!
Brian Vtec The V6 has the worst transmission
Awesome review, for a great car!! Don't bash this car until you drive it. For the money nothing even comes close to what this car offers
Great review and love the quality shots. That interior is gorgeous love the burgundy leather. Appreciate your thoughts on the 4 cylinder option as that is something I am seriously considering.
Great review. Informative to the point and understandable.

Keep your 6 speed!!! in a few years time that will be a very desirable car and you will regret getting rid of it!! speaking from experience here
M MILNER I couldn't man. It was costing me way too much in maintenance so I had to get rid of it :\ haha
I understand =/
Great review, I will have to test drive one, it seems like a very competitively priced car.
I'd get the 4 cylinder over v6 on this one
Superb review, well done and yes.....this is an amazing car, I want it!
Damn Good review
Great review. I look forward to test drivign one soon!
Yes will be staying in my lane 😍
Great review!

nice review - thanks

Lavere, I am still with Driving Television. These are just some reviews that I do on my own. What kind of SUV you looking at?

How tight is the rear seat? It seems that that is where the shortened TLX inches (when compared to the TL) were taken (along with some trunk space).
Is the V6 direct injection only?
tested drive already , 2.4 sport plus felt like driving ferrary haha ..
Actually the 2.4L without the ridiculous technology package costs just 30,995. I don't think all those unnecessary safety features are worth 4 grand
Mostly just for the nav and sound system

I heard complaints abiut this cars 2 screens which are redundant and on top of that, it's graphics technology looks old fashion

everyone is a genius
What's the song on the radio?
I don't really like the look of the tlx I love the old tl that's just me tho I love the interior color of that tlx very nice

I can so see a hooker sucking me off in this car
seriously?
Cars today are designed to be as quit as they can be, specially luxury cars.
The grill is so ugly
