- Full 2014 tour kick-off show by the Dutch band Delain performed @Hedon Zwolle NL on 21 March 2014.
When I filmed Delain one year ago in March 2013 I only knew their third album 'We Are The Others'. For me this was the album that defined them as a band, and that opened up the gates to an ever growing audience. This third album also opened the path for me to discover their first two albums 'Lucidity' and 'April Rain' which are gems in the rough and somewhat lacked the overall 'Delain-catchiness', although certainly already present in several individual songs. I am a Symphonic Metal fan with the emphasis on Metal (ReVamp is currently my favourite band), so therefore the 'poppy' Delain songs are less appealing to me. However as a music lover I admire these musicians and I would certainly define myself as a Delain-fan. Seeing them come this far in just one year makes me feel proud and happy for them that their fanbase is growing by the minute. The new songs they played from their fifth album 'The Human Contradiction' sound awesome and promising.
They succeeded once again to write catchy songs with a rough edge which will appeal to the metalers ánd pop-fans alike.

A much needed post to document this band's amazing progress since their beginning 8 years ago. There are so many posted videos of Delain but very few with sound quality that does them justice. Being restricted to one mike and having no feed from the sound board makes your work difficult, but this is near professional quality. Hats off to you, SymphonicM&M, keep it coming.
Thanks for the compliment Timothy! Nice to know it is being appreciated. Being a fan myself I know how frustrating it can be to not being able to find good live videos of your favorite bands. That's why I started to film the shows myself. Sometimes people even still complain about the compressed audio which seems a little ungrateful to me. Therefore I'm happy there are also appreciative persons like yourself :) Thanks again!

Love to hear some of the older songs being played live one day. Like "Frozen", "Silhouette of a dancer" and "Shattered". Their first album is a masterpiece!
Saw them at the 02 Apollo Manchester with Within Temptation, first time I``ve seen this band live. Brilliant! Really got the show on the road. Delain are welcome back here anytime. Thanks for uploading, great concert :)

Dear Symphonic Metal and More. Thanks for the info. Will it be on the Napalm records label? Please keep me informed. I got to meet Miss Charlotte before their show on March 23 in Tampa Florida. She was very nice and took her time to let me get a picture of me and her together. I love this band.
Seen them supporting Within Temptation in Manchester , 11/04/14, amazing , great gig, the best support act I have seen in a long long time :) UK tour themselves ????
i was there they did a short set of about 40 minutes and every one was screaming for more

They're doing a few UK shows this coming November, tickets went on sale the other day. I think they're doing one in Manchester, one in Birmingham and one in Glasgow. I didn't get to see them with WT so I'm pretty excited to go see them this time :D
This highlights the tragedy of modern music where the biggest stars in the world rely on backing tracks, lipsyncing and autotune yet bands like Delain who can sing and perform perfectly live but dont ggt a fraction of the notice
It's really to bad! I was on a pop show cause it was free entertainment where I live, it was horrible, auto tune and most artist didn't sing them self, and they where praised and most singers are known and cherished by the commons. I saw Kamelot later, and they had some trouble with the guitars and mics, and there was no sound from them even as they sang and played. And they don't get all the notice from the commons as real artists should. I would much rather have an artist sing wrong, lose them self and show flaw than have lip syncing and auto tune!

It would have been awesome if she hadn't made a mess at the MECHANIST beginning and had sang COLLARS AND SUITS!!!!!!! Delain surely needs to record a show!! They are fantastic, my favorite band, but their playback INTERLUDE DVD really frustrated me...
When is this band going to put out a full length Blu-Ray DVD? Please guys and gals, I just saw you in Tampa Florida and would so love more than the one DVD you have produced so far.

So this is the kick off show for this tour? So that means they should be fresh? Charlotte struggles with the vocals right from the start. Definitely needs improved vocal training/sustainability if she can't even do it on the first show. George killed it though, his pieces sound just like the album. However the outro to Not Enough was done excellently, some of the highest notes she had to face in the entire set, leads to believe that her struggles could be overcome with warm up/training.
I've been to their concert on tour with Nightwish and Sabaton. Charlotte sang extremely well. She hit the notes perfectly and her tone was great. She's gotten a lot better lately.
psyjager They were amazing when I saw them...what you have to remember is that they get hardly any breaks..
Been listening to Delain for years but never watched a live performance before. Disappointed by Charlotte. :/ She couldn't even do the April Rain chorus, had to lower the highest part, which makes it sound really lame. Doesn't seem like she has much of a range.
She's got a good voice. Just remember that she's on stage moving and jumping around; that makes it harder to sing.
CrazyDragon I agree, she has a good voice. Although she does sound better on the albums. And I fully realize that she's moving and jumping around but there are singers who do that and still sound amazing. Also, my biggest complaint was her range, not being able to sing the highest part of April Rain chorus.
Yeah. Typically, range is the first thing to go when a voice is straining. Her voice was very likely tired.
I never give too much attention if one singer loose a high note 😂.
The hole concert was amazing!!!
90 per cent of fans don't have so high music education and of course in lives some times the singers maybe are sick of little tired.
