Fantastic catch. Congrats. I have them on my hit list but no joy so far here in Western New York State. I too have that DX-286 now added to my "collection" and it's a great little radio. Just "learning" it now.
Thanks! I think you will have lots of great catches with the Qodosen. I certainly do 🙂 Once you get the hang of the basic functions, it's actually quite simple to operate.
Impressive catch! Your videos on this radio finally made me decide that I want to get one of these receivers. I have a birthday coming up, so the Qodosen DX-286 shall be my birthday present to myself. Cheers!
That would be great. But even at the current price, this radio is a good deal. There is still enough to hear on shortwave to make this radio worth the price, it open up a whole new world of listening.
Quite a wonderful catch indeed, André. It's a relatively easy catch for me here in France when I am in a quiet place RFI-wise, but I'm just above 1,000 km from them. Different story from where you are 👍
Congratulations Andre for one of my elusive DX catches…the little “Q” is a little DX machine! I have to take a trip up in the mountains surrounding my QTH of Tucson , Arizona now after seeing your success…👍😀! 73! Have a great day!
A trip up into the mountains might just be what you need to hear this one! I was really surprised here, to be honest. But it just shows, when propagation is good, there is always a chance to catch those elusive stations.
Hi André! I’m glad you are enjoying your Qodosen DX-286. It’s an outstanding performer. I have a question for you related to the DX-286. The Music/Voice filter on my SR-286 is unresponsive. Did it was fixed on the newer version? Take care and have a nice weekend. 73.
Hi Ísleif, I don't actually use that function, but I tested it now on both the SR-286 and the DX-286. The voice/music button seems to work only for FM, on both the radios. There is a clear difference in the FM band when I switch between voice and music, with music having a bit more bass, voice being a bit clearer. On SW and MW I don't see a difference at all, on both the radios.
@@swlistening Thanks for the response, André, that's how I used it as in other radios on shortwave to enhance voice, but never tried on FM, I thought it was a defect.. They must fix it for in MW/SW. Sometimes it helps when in some BW, or a distant signal. Later I tried it on my unit in FM and its effect is not noticeable at all. Have a nice sunday. 73
Fantastic catch André! 🥳🥳🥳 Just goes to show you don't need much to be heard far & wide. If propagation allows, it can do wonders 🪄 And I hope some other shortwave radio operators (I don't mean just hams 😜), even pirates, could be inspired by this. Get on the air and let people enjoy their radios and the REAL magic behind them... a magic online streaming just doesn't have. 73! ✈️
Thanks Arnie! This was kind of magical to me. Catches like this remind you that even seemingly impossible catches are actually quite possible. Now for that pesky Radio Educacion from Mexico and Radio Tarma from Peru that keep evading me 🙂
Excellent catch bro well done question when u get such a catch do you log in down in a journal and what do you put in it if you do .Cheers Ged from Ireland 🇮🇪..
Hi Ged, thanks! I do log down special catches like these. But I also see my RUclips channel as a log. The time and date are here in the video. RUclips is nice in that way, for me. It is like a library of my catches.
@@swlistening That chip is quite powerful! I have been dying to get a very low powered information station in the MW band 2 cities away from me. It broadcasts with around 10 watts. A car radio could pick it up but my D-808 picked up a weak carrier.
@@theshortwavearchive35 Do you know if your car radio uses a TEF6686 chip? It might, and that might be the reason why it picked up this station. The TEF6686 chip, the one used in the Qodosen also, is very powerful indeed.
@@swlistening I don't know for sure if it has the chip. It's a 2018 car so I'm thinking it most likely has it. I was also thinking that the car might have a very good antenna.
@@theshortwavearchive35 My guess is that the car probably has the TEF6686 chip. You could also do some FM tests and see if you can pick up some distant FM stations. If you can pick up FM stations that you don't hear on the D-808, then I think the car does have a TEF chip. The antenna will make a difference also, yes, but the chip plays a big part in pulling in those distant signals.

Действительно отличный приемник на хорошей микросхеме. Не давно его приобрёл и не жалею
Я согласен с вами, я очень доволен этим ресивером. Это один из лучших ресиверов, которые можно приобрести сейчас.

Thank you Jackie! Happy birthday and I hope you will enjoy the radio as much as I do. My birthday is also coming up :-)
André really should earn a margin on every of the numerous sales he helps making. Qodosen, listen up! 😁

Brilliant, congratulations
Thanks Mike!
Good video. Learned about Denmark and South Africa
Glad you enjoyed it James!
Great catch. 300 watts? Wow. I am really tempted to get a Qodosen. Maybe Amazon will have a sale soon.

Thanks Alain! It has been one of my DXing goals to catch this one. I remember catching it when I was in Berlin, but never before in South Africa.

Can you get Finnish radio programs to be heard?
I haven't been able to catch the Finnish stations yet. But I am trying!
