Maybe this isn't taught in schools today, but years used to be measured in AD (Anno Domini, I.e. the year of Our Lord) or BC (before Christ). Using BCE and CE is a sign of our society's rejection of Christ. The Christian era, per se, begins at Pentecost, and even this takes away the focus from Christ to lay the focus on humans.
@@gray_mara BCE and CE are a gesture of societal respect for the large part of humanity who subscribe to different faiths. The United States is by constitution a secular nation. Only bullies insist on forcing their own traditions on others. It's long past time for this simple change. True humility would be most appropriate here, not this arrogant complaining.
@@phoebeflanders If people who "insist on forcing their own traditions on others" are bullies, what do you call those who force others to give up their culture? Would you go into another culture and insist they change their ways because you've arrived? Well, obviously you would, so I suppose the question is rhetorical. And trying to shame me out of respecting my culture by telling me it would be humble to give up my traditions because *you* don't respect them? No. This is just a sly way of forcing *your* culture on others who were here first. This would be the reason why my ancestors were taken from their families, their culture and their language and forced to "assimilate." This is why I don't know any of my grandparents, because whole generations were stolen and made to fit in with the mainstream. You do you, and leave my culture alone. I don't care if you want to use different language. Go ahead. But I am not going to abandon my tradition just because you have decided you don't like it. Insisting that I assimilate to your culture because there are more of you is another variant of genocide. And I'm not from the US. The rest of the world exists.
Very interesting-since monasteries and churches were so widespread in England in the 7th century, why was Patrick so busy converting people? Did paganism return to Britannia after the Romans left?
Amen to the Future 🗡🇬🇧
Aleluya !!! Dios es grande
Amazing Orthodox Christian author

Wonderful sermon!!! We should call C.E. "CHRISTIAN ERA, " and BCE "BEFORE THE CHRISTIAN ERA."
