- I began this podcast in 2009 from my house. It was barebones. Two guys, two microphones. I riffed, ranted and dug deep with the likes of Seth MacFarlane, Kevin Nealon, Joel McHale and others. In 2010 I “got the band back together” and reformatted it into the morning show I left behind on terrestrial radio. Now after more than a decade I’ve made the decision to return to those early podcasting roots, without the sidekicks or sound-effects. Gina Grad and Bryan Bishop remain friends, both of mine and of the show, and will hopefully continue to contribute from time to time but in the overcrowded field of podcasting it’s your ideas, unique perspectives and voice that cuts through and grows audience. 2023 will mark a return to a more pure, uncut Carolla.

Hey Adam, my wife was a huge fan. She passed away in October, but not before she bought me a some Adam Carolla sweatpants. You are in her small list of great comedians, but she respected you for much more than just your comedy. Thank you for bringing smiles to her face over the years! Take care!

I'm pumped for a new format. I usually always skipped over the start of the podcasts and got right to the guests anyway lol
I just get bored with Adam’s biography style interviews and oddball guests. I’d rather him have on ppl he can riff with or have cool conversations with. I’m not that interested in the childhood of a random director I’ve never heard of. So hopefully he has interesting ppl on and can steer conversations into interesting territory and get away from biographies
Me also - I used to see no Bald Brian and then watch. They must be able to see the analytics of how many viewers just skipped right over him and started listening in the middle of the podcast.
Big fan of you Adam. I had stopped listening to your show for a while but I look forward to seeing this next phase.

TDS kicked in and his friendship and blind eye to JI33y Ki33el made me stop listening. Now I’m trying to find out what happened to everyone. I’m currently seeing if Olga works for his ex now😂😂

Adam, I'm 62 and I started a brand new career six months ago when I was a 61 year-old wipper- snapper... most likely it will be the last job before I retire to finish my book. Each one of you gets to author the next chapters. This is no dress rehearsal, so I hope you all go for whatever challenges you meaningfully.

Truthfully I feel like co-hosts are a bit antiquated now. That model of morning drive time radio is essentially old hat. I think Adam’s one on one interviews are completely engaging and entertaining. Best part is Ace Man is leaving that Hellscape of a state!

Thank you, I will listen again. I stopped listening ever since the Donald Trump Jr. interview. Adam wanted an interview and Brian and Gina kept asking the same questions and bashing him. Adam had to step in told them to "stand down geez"
This dude did more for me than my own father.
Bald Brian and Gina had their moments but they tended to drag the show down unfortunately. I look forward to the new format!

Seems like a good call, and I'm glad Adam is transparent. I think he learned from the confusion when Allison Rosen left the show, which caused a minor shitstorm, but it made sense when he addressed it more. Initially, I liked Gina as she was much more of a team player than Allison, but the last few times I watched it seemed like she and Brian were constantly at odds with Adam's politics, and the show has become more about politics. Brian used to be very quick with drops, but that seems to have pretty much disappeared. Hopefully, a new focus will build his audience. I hope he starts being more selective about who gets on the show, meaning interesting people, not just d-list celebs. It's not a radio show anymore.
Just talking without all the sound-effects and breaks makes for the best podcasts. I just want to hear your thoughts. A guest every now and then would be great.

It's SO much better now! I didn't mind Brian, but that cackle and chronic insertion of pointless babble are a very welcomed change.
I barely watched the show but when I did, she quickly reminded me why I didn’t watch it more often.

Seems most California transplants want to go to Texas, Florida, or Tennessee, which has caused property values to go sky high. 🤷🏻♀️
Interesting to note and it is off topic but a favorite move of Californians was to go to Idaho. The latest real estate numbers show a 8% reduction in pricing from that over heated RE market in Idaho.

12 hours is just too damn long to walk. The first time they mentioned it I started getting sore. I get the concept, but I have trouble handling a 10K.
I am actually kind of glad, to hear this news. I think Adam could use a slight more mature sidekick, if any. I had stopped watching Adam a while back, because of this. It seemed like whenever he played older music or talked about things from his past, Bald and Gina had to be schooled about the topic at hand. I am a mere few months older than Adam and I think the humble beginnings, that we share, is what brings me here. Best wishes to Bald, Gina and whoever is left behind. I will be looking forward to the New Adam. Peace.
Agreed. Gina was cute but never adds much substance. Bald, not sure about him. He became annoying at times while listening for me. I’m sure the change in his personal life is impacting this change as well.
@@cpmiller1965 Jenny McCarthy used to rail against science, believing vaccines harmful. She was the butt of Adams jokes. He has since joined her. I don't think Gina and Bryan were sufficiently on board. I have to skip his rants on the subject.
The other side is people like myself find Adams taste in music terrible and skip the parts where they play songs. Other than the Bosstones and Blues traveller all the songs he likes are just odd.
@@DavidDavis311 Adam mistakes taste for quality. He doesn't like U2 or Radiohead, but they are objectively great bands.
His educating them also educated younger listeners allowing the entirety of his thought to reach more people. If he goes on a construction analogy to a construction guest, that only hits for listeners in the construction field. However, if he starts a construction analogy and some non-construction cohost asks for explanation, he offers a little explanation and can go back to the analogy with every listener on board.

Was Gina that different from Alison Rosen or Teresa Strasser? Other than the annoying improv sessions that Adam instigated with Gina, they all provided the same role with roughly the same jew-lib brains.

Bald was awful. He didn't have a voice for radio/podcast, he spoke way too fast, used way too many fillers, stuttered and brought the show to a screeching halt when he tried to make a point.
This was/is a bit hard hard for me to accept! I go way back to early Loveline days, I will 'always' listen to Adam and Drew, but contrary to many out there (apparently, and I would have never even imagined...), I thought this trio was absolute gold together, they meshed absolutely perfectly. I will miss this show, I can't even describe properly how much I'll miss these three together and also when certain guests were on like Fitzdog or Jay Mohr or Gould. I feel like a friend has died or something. I'm mourning this loss

More of Drew and Mark please. Ace man has excellent chemistry with those two. I like trending topics with Maxipada as well, and I'd be happy if he or Dawson took over the news segment. Brad is a natural on sound effects, if he agreed to join the show. Teresa is excellent too if she wanted to come back.
The Adam and Dr Drew show has pretty much been my favorite podcast because both men are unfiltered and uncut. No walking on eggshells, I know exactly where they stand on topics being discussed. I liked both Gina and Bald in the past, but the chemistry is lacking nowadays and they aren't a good fit for the show. Gina has become the epitome of the clueless California progressive who Adam is railing against all the time. Jettisoning those two was going to happen anyways when Ace leaves Commifornia.
I was usually a fan of bald Bryan and the inside jokes that came from his sound effects…but Gina was always kind of annoying. The golden era was when Teresa Strasser was on. The Alison Rosen era also had some really good moments until she became a bit annoying. I’m sure the future format will do fine without them. It’s always been Adam carrying the show anyway
I think my listening is like a lot of other listeners - I want to hear Carolla, I don't care about the random interns he pulls in.

Will not miss gina in the slightest, she brought nothing to the show and the two things that should have been "Ratings" boosters, she was unwilling and/or offended to utilize. So she can walk into a fire for all I care, harsh but honest... Any chick from IG or OF can regurgitate news articles... Probably cheaper and younger too.

A friend and I have been talking about this since cov*d happened and Gina wouldn’t come in. Bald was sick so that made sense, but her complacency was extremely frustrating. The show was hard to listen to when the zoom stuff was happening. I’m SO GLAD you’ll be doing the more personal format. The one on ones and Take A Knee’s have always been way better imo.
I’m back to listening to every episode and hope you move to Houston so I can catch you working new material out locally!

I always thought that an amazing cohost for you would be a Mike Rowe type. Then you would have more of a blue collar type podcast that would pair well with the Dr Drew content.

You say you're changing format, and then immediately went to just replacing Bald and Gina with Maxipada doing exactly the same format.
Don't blame him, those two were a drag. Neither of them laughed at any of Adams jokes which made the vibe dull. Even when things were hilarious , I often saw them just straight faced as if they'd seen it 1000 times, which I get. When you're in show business, what amuses the average person doesn't impress you. I remember when they had the guy with the Bill Maher impression on, and he was killing it, and those two were barely laughing despite a brilliant comic moment in front of them.
