It seems to me that Star Wars Republic Commando was a relative success, DESPITE the efforts of Lucasarts Senior Management, than because of it. If anything the development team deserves considerable acclaim due to their developing a well-executed, polished, highly-regarded game as they succeeded against barriers put up by senior management.
Well, it seems that the only member of Lucasarts Senior Management who actually did something good for the dev team and the game was Lucas himself, with his recommendation that each Clone be unique in his own way.

Maybe they shut it down to prevent themselves from EA or exactly this happened: EA/Disney took juristic action to take them down. :/

There was a remaster in the works by a mod team called Blackout Studios... but yeah, EA issued a "cease and desist" a couple months ago and that was the end of it. It looked incredible (using the Unreal Engine 4), but apparently remastering a 14 year old game is highly detrimental to the Star Wars franchise and EA's failing financials.
The fact that no Star Wars game like this has been made in so long, only makes me appreciate the unique games that used to be made that much more. The *2* Star Wars games we've gotten since the Disney purchase have both been disappointing and I doubt any future EA Star Wars game will live up to the golden age of Star Wars games.
You're right. Back in the day we had so many varieties of SW games, from flight sims to RTS, FPS, MMO, RPG, ect, pretty much every genre under the sun was covered... Nowdays all we have is the mindless battlefront shooter, (which is okay if that's all you want.. ) or a grindy p2w mmo. Or simple mobile games... So...the sw gaming landscape is like a barren wasteland compared to its hayday. It's pretty sad really.
I'm gonna say it; LucasArts for the most part didn't make quality games which is why they made a large quantity of games. My top 3 favorite star wars games from LucasArts days were RC, BF2, and Lego Complete Saga. Mind you, those are my 3 favorite STAR WARS games from old days. RC was my second favorite game OVERALL. The rest don't even make the list. EA Battlefront 2 started out as a hot mess but after they fixed it it has become my favorite game of all time. Fallen Order also looks pretty good. So EA just needs one more half decent game to make the claim of putting out more quality content than Lucas Arts ever did.
It's also worth mentioning that Republic Commando became a launching point and inspiration for the evolution of Mandalorian culture in the Star Wars Universe. The novel series would dive more into this subject and other game titles, such as SWKOTOR II: The Sith Lords and SWTOR, would expand upon the topic. SW Clone Wars (2008 - present) and SW Rebels would also dive into the subject, and the upcoming series The Mandalorian, directed by Jon Favreau, will continue the journey.

My friend was part of the sound team of 7 and claimed that characters were actually removed or added to fill marketability quotas constantly and that work would be trashed if they were convinced this wouldn't "promote nostalgia"

Funny how the Clones actually bought me into the Saga. I'm pretty thankful to my friend that introduced me into Ep II. From that I got into this universe like crazy. I remember that not that long after getting into the movie, I meet Republic Commando. Such a wonderful childhood thanks to that.
Closest we have to a sequel in terms of gameplay is Halo 5, which has its own host of problems. Good thing is that Republic Commando is easily found on Steam for dirt cheap and still holds up pretty well.

Disney did it so they could keep an eye on their continuity and ensure they have supreme rule over all lore. They're too lazy to work with multiple developers to make content that works together like Lucas did.

I recently bought Star Wars Republic commando on the Xbox one. And it was a dream come true I loved it so much it’s a shame it never got a sequel or the success it truly deserves
Its already done with SW Galaxy, albeit its an mmo, but the potential of become one of SW universe citizen with ordinary job is quite compelling. Can GVMERS talk about it, I think the server emulator still exists nowadays

It breaks my heart to know there’ll never be a sequel. Not being the biggest Star Wars fan, I fell in LOVE with this game and the squad. Hearing the sequel pitches puts me at ease that Sev is still kicking somewhere.

EA battlefront 2 is a good game. Has been for a while. The story's not the greatest but honestly you don't play a battlefront title, or an EA title for that matter, for the story so I'll call it good.
This game blew me away. It may be my favorite of all time, overall, due to the love put into it and it’s tremendously fun and varied and subtle gameplay loop.
Imagine having ten years exclusive access to one of the greatest franchises of all time and not making anything because you don't think people want single player games.
This game was my childhood, and I'm so honored that I had the opportunity to experience it. Definitely unforgettable for many of us dedicated fans out there.

I've bought this game on every system I can play it, Xbox, Xbox one and PC. It took me years but I also managed to collect the commando figures. It is by no means an exaggeration to say I put hundreds of hours into the campaigns alone when I was a kid. Love it.

Definitely the underrated Star Wars game. I remember when my dad bought the Xbox version for me. My pre-teen self played the game like hell, and the cheats made the game more enjoyable. When the PS4 and Switch versions came out last year, I eagerly bought the PS4 version and recorded everything. Republic Commando will forever be the the gold standard for side story Star Wars games.
Republic Commando is one of the best games I ever played; I hope someday it will have a remaster or sequel, Delta Squad has a awesome story that continues in the books. REMEMBER SEV!
I just downloaded this game a couple weeks ago and am currently playing through it, loving it all over again. Cant believe this wasnt a series of video games... the 2nd one couldve been like the bad batch series, and so on and so forth.... missed opportunity for sure.
This was such a sleeper hit. I went back and recently played it on y pc and it still holds up. I have always found the story of the clones to be the most interesting part of the Clone Wars tv series. Like Yoda said" different in the force each of you are".
So I don't know the first thing about the business side of games, but I've wondered for a while now why Disney gave EA such a massive contract, I really wish they would've gone game by game with multiple studios, ya dice would seem like a good choice to make battle front, (or they did when Disney first bought Star Wars) but could you imagine a sequel to Republic Commando made by the same people behind Rainbow six siege. I know you don't wanna over expand, but they could've hired the best studios out there for many genres like RPGs, mmo said, fps, etc. but unlike with the Lucas arts of old all these games wouldn't have to be handled by one studio. Idk, maybe there's some reason this would be bad, I'm just a fan of Star Wars that sees a lot of potential wasted.

Don't get me wrong the Clone Wars show is great. But Republic Commando is the depiction it should have taken instead of taking a great concept and the bloodiest war since the Sith Wars of old and turning it into a bastardized kids show. Uugghh and those droid voices... why not use these.
I feel like we watched two different shows, sure the first two seasons aren’t very good, but it gets pretty damn dark and gritty in the later seasons, especially with the invasion of Umbara.
I would rather a new star wars game in the same vein as RC from Respawn than ever get another DICE Battlefront again. Although if Respawn wanted to do a sequel that could be cool.

Funny how the Clones actually bought me into the Saga. I'm pretty thankful to my friend that introduced me into Ep II.
From that I got into this universe like crazy. I remember that not that long after getting into the movie, I meet Republic Commando. Such a wonderful childhood thanks to that.

Closest we have to a sequel in terms of gameplay is Halo 5, which has its own host of problems. Good thing is that Republic Commando is easily found on Steam for dirt cheap and still holds up pretty well.
No. Closest thing we have to a sequel in terms of gameplay is Mass Effect 1-3. Halo 5's team mechanics are not even close to it. At least Halo Reach didn't pretend and just gave you 4-5 invincible bricks to hide behind.

I recently bought Star Wars Republic commando on the Xbox one. And it was a dream come true I loved it so much it’s a shame it never got a sequel or the success it truly deserves
i think a story about ordinary (somewhat ordinary anyway) people stuck in a war will always be compelling
Its already done with SW Galaxy, albeit its an mmo, but the potential of become one of SW universe citizen with ordinary job is quite compelling. Can GVMERS talk about it, I think the server emulator still exists nowadays

The fact that the Commandos were featured in Battlefront 2 (2015) give me hope that we are not done with the Republic Commandos yet.
It breaks my heart to know there’ll never be a sequel. Not being the biggest Star Wars fan, I fell in LOVE with this game and the squad. Hearing the sequel pitches puts me at ease that Sev is still kicking somewhere.
I'm honestly kinda glad there won't be a "Imperial Commando", they would just make them end up on the light side again. Disney and EA would rape this game like they raped the Battlefront saga.
Most normal people in Star Wars don’t go to the “light” or “dark” side, they just choose what they think is right.
And if those were all logical choices for how the characters were set up that's alright. But the change in Battlefront felt artificial as fuck. And I bet they would do the same thing with this game. @@Arnorian_Knight

EA battlefront 2 is a good game. Has been for a while. The story's not the greatest but honestly you don't play a battlefront title, or an EA title for that matter, for the story so I'll call it good.
This game blew me away. It may be my favorite of all time, overall, due to the love put into it and it’s tremendously fun and varied and subtle gameplay loop.
Imagine having ten years exclusive access to one of the greatest franchises of all time and not making anything because you don't think people want single player games.
Blame the boomers in charge of EA that is literally out of touch with its audience. Hope they kill over soon.
This game was my childhood, and I'm so honored that I had the opportunity to experience it. Definitely unforgettable for many of us dedicated fans out there.

I played this game when I was little and got back to it over the time again and again. I played it like 7 times or more and I still love it and dream about it ! I just fell in love with the game design, the idea, the music and the Passion. I get back to it over and over again and I won’t forget this game. I love and miss it so much

I've bought this game on every system I can play it, Xbox, Xbox one and PC. It took me years but I also managed to collect the commando figures.
It is by no means an exaggeration to say I put hundreds of hours into the campaigns alone when I was a kid. Love it.
Now imagine a remake but with the current Battlefront engine....

Definitely the underrated Star Wars game. I remember when my dad bought the Xbox version for me. My pre-teen self played the game like hell, and the cheats made the game more enjoyable. When the PS4 and Switch versions came out last year, I eagerly bought the PS4 version and recorded everything. Republic Commando will forever be the the gold standard for side story Star Wars games.

I just downloaded this game a couple weeks ago and am currently playing through it, loving it all over again. Cant believe this wasnt a series of video games... the 2nd one couldve been like the bad batch series, and so on and so forth.... missed opportunity for sure.

This was such a sleeper hit. I went back and recently played it on y pc and it still holds up. I have always found the story of the clones to be the most interesting part of the Clone Wars tv series. Like Yoda said" different in the force each of you are".
So I don't know the first thing about the business side of games, but I've wondered for a while now why Disney gave EA such a massive contract, I really wish they would've gone game by game with multiple studios, ya dice would seem like a good choice to make battle front, (or they did when Disney first bought Star Wars) but could you imagine a sequel to Republic Commando made by the same people behind Rainbow six siege. I know you don't wanna over expand, but they could've hired the best studios out there for many genres like RPGs, mmo said, fps, etc. but unlike with the Lucas arts of old all these games wouldn't have to be handled by one studio. Idk, maybe there's some reason this would be bad, I'm just a fan of Star Wars that sees a lot of potential wasted.

Making video games are very seldom stories of triumph. It's documentaries like these that make video games look like miracles.

Don't get me wrong the Clone Wars show is great. But Republic Commando is the depiction it should have taken instead of taking a great concept and the bloodiest war since the Sith Wars of old and turning it into a bastardized kids show. Uugghh and those droid voices... why not use these.
Republic Commando actually managed to make the droids intimidating. Especially the super battle droids. Yikes.

I feel like we watched two different shows, sure the first two seasons aren’t very good, but it gets pretty damn dark and gritty in the later seasons, especially with the invasion of Umbara.
