@@Nammygirl68 Taeyeon, Chungha, Sunmi, Amber, Hyuna, Yubin, Ha:tfelt are also female soloists who came from groups. I don't think the gender is the issue here. Eric Nam is really talented and deserves a lot more attention, but the fact that he's a male soloist isn't stopping him.
i think it has a lot to do with his timing :'(( often, his comebacks are timed along with other artists', which isn't a good thing for him because his music is mostly pop, and that gets drowned out in the sea of mainly pop comebacks/releases. His musical sound too isn't very Korean-sounding, a problem Henry also opened up as something he struggles with when he asked Yeo Hee Yeol for advice on Sketchbook. The way he sings, and how he delivers himself, so much of culture plays a role in his presentation in the kpop realm. His music isn't too absurd like a lot of Kpop, but it also isnt completely out there challenging the genre like some soloists are doing. He isn't as diverse too, and his reputation is more built on his oratory entertainment skills. It doesn't help that soloists dont stay on top most of the time, the only sole artist i know who has achieved this is IU, breaking records and topping charts at every release, a feat groups cannot even maintain for a few years. How much more with soloists :'((( I've always been a fan of his, but I will admit that he is certainly very underrated. :'((
