I was raised in Chester from 1942 until 1960. Yes, it was a typical New England town, but today it has become a romanticized version of what people think it was. The small factories employed most of the population. Salaries were extremely low in those factories. Most families had gardens because it was necessary for survival. The shops you videoed so well were made of a town office building, two taverns, soda fountain, grocery store, butcher shop, liquor store, barber shop, gift shop, bank, post office, hardware store, dry cleaner, drug store and a general store where you could buy shoes and clothing. The town was very self-sufficient.

So many of your videos remind me to go back and visit places that I loved! You went by the "River Tavern" in your video. If you go back to Chester, you have to get lunch there. I used to meet friends there for a "girl's luncheon" several times over the years. It is a cute town, but we kept going back for this one dessert, the baked date pudding! You have to put in your order when you get there, because it is made to order. You will think you died and went to heaven, LOL!! All their food is fresh and delicious, but this dessert is the reason to try it out. Happy travels! 😊

I had the opportunity to come thru here quite a few years ago & i just loved it. Quintessential small New England town. When we came we would stay in The Chester Inn I think it was called. I wonder if it still exists? It was all quite lovely.

Afternoon in Connecticut: nice video. Was the ferry used in the movie "Let's Scare Jessica To Death" in use in Chester, Connecticut? I'm originally from Chester.........Pennsylvania. Cheers!

A costly place to live. With a six figure $100,000-$120,000 income you will do well. Cosy historic city to visit. I do miss the East coast.

Here's a suggestion. Why not do a little reseach on the town before posting a video about it. At least you're honest by saying up front that you know absolutely nothing about the town you're doing a video of.
