  • Starlink could be entering into a fresh battle with the FCC over federal funding for broadband expansion. After being denied $900 million for the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) last year, $42 billion will be up for grabs with the latest program, Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD). Will Starlink have a chance at any of the funding?

Fiber links are extremely expensive. Starlink works today. We love Starlink.

Maby but from a business side Starlink is a money burning party. It will never be sustainable to run for SpaceX.

I was fully expecting this to be a one sided report. Fanboy or hater, either way.
Yet I just watched a factual and informative video. And even pleasantly presented at that. Thanks!

if it's not just the government vs starlink, why will they fund viasat under the affordable internet program (700ms latency/5mb down/2mb up IF I WAS LUCKY). starlink gives me 75-130mb down, 15-25mb up and 25ms. I was approved for subsidy on viasat at the same time starlink became available to me. I didn't use even one month of the subsidy, I just made the switch. seems like the government targets starlink and tesla in the same ways.

Starlink is fully eligible for the ACP. Starlink, until recently, has decided not to activate its ACP benefits. SpaceX said they do plan to enter the ACP soon, although the program is now closed to new applicants, so they will have to wait until it gets more funding. It has been Starlink’s choice not to participate:
