Maybe im too late to comment this but just fyi: Those "chalk" arent even made from the same materials as your usual classroom chalk. Those are special chalk for tailors to sketch on fabric. They're made from hardened wax/clay. Therefore they dont make that horribly high pitched scratchy sound like the classroom chalk on a blackboard... My granny is a tailor therefore i know a bit about this, i also used to play with them when i was a kid lol

The shape of the chalk matters for those vibrations. You won't be able to produce sounds like this with your good old classroom chalk. Maybe something similar from sidewalk chalk, but even then physics.

Garment chalk over here has been just uneven cylindrical chunks that colour your fingers whenever you touch them. Been like this since the 50s. Seeing these elegant little plates really feels like gazing into the far future.
