    Dr Taylor, I am actually a young family medicine physician from Amarillo and watching your videos and bought your book as well. You help not just the patients but the doctors as well. I am particularly learning from you how to explain to my patients in easy way what's going on with them, etc.
    My colleague raised his eyebrows after seeing your book: "Don't you know this already?" I said: " I do but I don't know how to explain it to my patients, they don't teach it in residency!"
    Anyway, big thank you! Will be referring my patients to your channel.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 лет назад +11

      You are so right! When I talk to my medical colleagues about how much education they got in medical school on menopause, they can't remember receiving even one hour. The only physicians who receive any real education on menopause are Ob/Gyn residents. And many of them don't learn more than the basics.
      Please spread the word to your colleagues. I know you don't have time to give patients the kind of education I can give them. That's why I do this. I give a two-day seminar that covers everything ... in a language patients can understand. You should go to my website and see all the resources I have. It's MenopauseTaylor.ME.
      I strive to provide every educational resource fore every woman, regardless of her learning style, time line, or budget.
      Thank you so much for finding me and for helping women to find me.

      This is the education you deserve, my dear. Unfortunately, there has never before been an education on menopause. And, currently, I am the ONLY person on earth providing one. Everybody else is marketing one product or approach, ad giving you all sorts of misinformation all the while.
      I call my channel "Menopause Taylor University." You'll find that if you start at the very first video (going by the number after each title), you'll understand absolutely everything. And you'll be shocked at what you didn't know, and delighted that you now do know.
      Each video builds on the last. It's just like school: You had to learn the alphabet before you could read. And nowadays, there are so many overwhelming misconceptions that women mistake as facts ... that you just don't know what you don't know.
      I respond to all comments here on RUclips daily. So, I will answer all your questions ... but I'll also know if you aren't watching the videos in order. (I'm like your mother. I have eyes in the back of my head!)
      And if you need me to help you tailor anything to your personal situation, you can schedule a one-on-one consultation at MenopauseTaylor.ME any time.

      This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. You definitely need one. I cannot tailor things specifically to you in a comment box. No two women are alike, and addressing your situation requires tailoring all the facts specifically to YOU. I do them all via online video conferencing. You can schedule at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I look forward to meeting you and helping you.

    This is great information, thank you so much!!! I am feeling sad that I am getting closer to the age and symptoms that are not very respected in today's society. At least what I am observing. It is harder to get a job, be taken seriously, the face changes, hormone changes and all other symptoms to add to all that can make a woman really miserable. I am glad you are spreading awareness in an honest and unbiased manner that people can learn more about what women go thru and perhaps show more understanding to women in this age group.

    i literally just burst out into tears from the sadness and anger I've been experiencing around this issue in my life. Out of the blue in Nov 2015 (at age 45) my periods just stopped. Completely stopped. I had no irregular periods, no change in blood flow, nothing really. I'm now 49 years old (still having had no period. definitely post menopause I'd say) and have two older sisters who are still having their periods. I'm single with no kids. I wasn't ready for this and the symptoms have been intense. I'm full of shame and sadness that doesn't seem to go away. I am praying this tutorial will help me feel like I have some empowerment around this. Doctors are so blase about it. As are most of my girlfriends. Thank you Dr. Taylor. Thank you so much!

      Jilann,
      Please, please schedule a one-on-one consultation with me. I don't want you feeling this way. And I really want to help you.
      Every woman has specific personal issues that she has to incorporate into her menopause management. You deserve someone who will give you the attention you deserve. That someone is me.
      I'm in the business of educating you about everything you need to know and do in order to get exactly what you want for managing your menopause your way. So, here's how a consultation works:
      1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone.
      2) I would send you an email to confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. For instance, if you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I would need all these things at least 1 week before your consultation with me.
      3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points put the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages.
      4) I will send you the document by email 48 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth.
      5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed.
      6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use.
      7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (15-minute or 30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and balance their options.
      The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got form the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request.
      So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively).
      I hope to meet you soon!

    Love your videos! Just subscribed from seeing you on Hot and Flashy with Angie. I have a question. I had Uterine Abalation 8 years ago. Did not have a period after that. Not sure if I am peri- or post-menopausal, since I may have still had my period if I hadn’t had the procedure. Having many many night sweats every night and tried many vitamins, minerals, herbs, and healthy foods. Nothing is changing and I am very tired. Looking forward to watching all your videos.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  5 лет назад +9

      Your periods are only 1 of 22 signs & symptoms of menopause. So, instead of relying on your periods, you'll rely on the other 21 symptoms, which I enumerate in video 11.
      You don't have to "diagnose" menopause any more than you had to "diagnose" puberty. It's gonna happen. If you know what to expect (because you're a student of Menopause Taylor University), you'll have no trouble recognizing the signs when they appear. And I'll be here to help you.
      Watch my videos in order, starting with the very first one, and I can promise that you'll understand absolutely everything. Not only that; you'll be shocked to discover how much you didn't know.
      Menopause can be the greatest time in your life ... but only if you're prepared for it and educated about it. If not, it can be the most miserable time off your life.

    Barbie, Have you made any videos on PCOS? Please address PCOS in depth for the large population that don't fit the standard rules!
    Teach in detail like you do with props and explainations!
    PCOS is greatly ignored and not being treated well in the medical community! We PCOS women are being failed!
    What little PCOS info that is out there identifies it, diagnoses it, prescriptions thrown at it (by the way not one pharmaceutical has actually been developed with the specific use to treat PCOS directly), in which the meds prescribed cause additional problems and don't really solve the root of the issue, leaving women with PCOS in worse condition and "customers for life."
    Most Docs, PAs, and NPs don't know much about PCOS!!! It's hard to find anyone who can actually help!!!
    In addition, most PCOS stuff out there is centering around fertility (20-30 yr olds), but what about PCOS Peri-menopause (40-50's) as well as PCOS Menopause(50 & beyond)?!! Crickets from the medical community!!!
    PCOS women don't fit the definitions established around pre, peri, and post menopause! Our hormones are all over the place! The feedback loop is all messed up in us, and we can't find the education to understand what is happening in our bodies! No one has the time to spend with us to help us help ourselves! How do we do PCOS our way? How can we do PCOS menopause our way?
    Please help us PCOS women of middle age and beyond!!!

I have watched 10 of your tutorials to date and I am so grateful that finally all the "wacky stuff",as you call it, that I've been going through for a couple of years all now makes sense. Great video, Barbara! I entered menopause suddenly, experiencing my first hot flash about eight hours post op after a partial emergency hysterectomy, and final oophorectomy at age 45. That was ten years ago, and I continue to struggle with annoying symptoms of frequent daily hot flashes, cold night sweats, difficulty sleeping, tearfulness, difficulty concentrating, etc. I am unable to take any form of HRT as I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer just a year after my surgery. Virtually all alternative treatments, and therapies that I have tried instead, have been futile. I look forward to learning something helpful in this series of lectures on menopause. Thanks for sharing your expertise, and experience, Sherrey in Southern Ontario❤

    Absolutely love your videos! My question is how do I determine the stage I'm going through as I've had a hysterectomy 7 years ago at age 47? I do still my ovaries though....Thank you so much for your enlightment...😊🌺

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  8 лет назад

      You'll have to base your phase on your symptoms. You'll probably notice something (hot flashes, moodiness, insomnia, etc.) When you do, assume that you're peri-or post-menopausal (it doesn't matter which), and manage your symptoms any way you want, taking into consideration any other health issues you have.

      Welcome aboard to "Menopause Taylor University," Marjorie. You'll find that if you start at the very first video (going by the number after each title), you'll understand absolutely everything.
      And if you need me for anything, I do one-on-one consultations on Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and the phone. All you have to do is schedule at MenopauseTaylor.ME.

    Thank you so much for your series. It is so informative. If a woman has had a total hysterectomy in her 40's and she no longer has periods it seems it is more difficult to determine what phase of menopause she is in. As I continue in the series this may become more clear to me. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for all the education. I am 46 and when I was 45, my fsh level was 96. I started hrt right away. (Almost 1 1/2 yrs ago). My doctor says I’m post menopausal because of the fsh levels and I can’t get pregnant. I still get random light periods and spotting. Am I peri or post? Thank you.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  5 лет назад +1

      You are probably still peri-menopausal.
      Remember, a blood test is but a snapshot of one point in time. Peri-menopause is a time when all your reproductive hormones are like a rollercoaster. If you drew the levels every day, you wouldn't know what to make of it.
      Your life is not a snapshot in time. So, I believe YOU more than I believe a lab test.
      Do NOT assume you can't get pregnant. This is a misconception had by many woman who has a "menopause baby"!

    • @duchessdelarue8781
      @duchessdelarue8781 4 года назад

      My gynecologist said when you’re going through this it’s like a “going out of business sale” from your ovaries and you can accidentally get pregnant. Don’t give up! I had my last baby in my 40’s and I have to be very careful not to get accidentally pregnant again!

    Would it make sense then to take only progesterone when in peri-menopause (because estrogen is high} and then in post menopause take estrogen and progesterone since both are low at that stage?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 лет назад +2

      Yes! Many women do it that way. Be aware of the signs and symptoms of progesterone excess, though, because most likely you're going to get to a point where the side effects of progesterone make things worse, not better. Be ready to add estrogen then. Progesterone causes mood swings, depression, fatigue, drowsiness, and possibly weight gain.

      @JuicyJuice1313 7 лет назад

      @MenopauseTaylor  7 лет назад +3

      Yes, if you go to a gynecologist, he or she will know exactly how much to give you, and you can tweak it from there.

    Thanks you Barbie for all the thought you put in these videos and the amount of time and energy. It’s so obvious that you really care.
    I’ve got a question. I am almost 53. I have been regular with my periods all this time but a year ago, they went to last from 5 to 3 days. But other than drier skin, I had 0 symptoms of pero menopause. All of the sudden, a couple of months ago I stopped having a period. And I feel sometimes as if I had taken a pill of Niacinamide, like a mini tingling flush. Does this mean that I just started peri
    menopause or I am way into it?
    I got scared when you mentioned pregnancy because I went from normal cycles into absolutely nothing. Thank you for listening.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  Год назад

      Any bleeding counts as a "period" and means that you are PERI-menopausal rather then POST-menopausal.
      You can't declare yourself "Post-menopausal" until you have had 12 consecutive months with no bleeding at all. (Of corse, by the time you've had no bleeding at all for 12 consecutive months, you've really been "post-menopausal" for 12 months. But you cannot know that prospectively.)
      If you want help figuring out where you are in the process, don't hesitate to schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I do them all online.

      You'll rely on symptoms other than your periods fading away. In tutorial 11, I'll be giving you the list of 22 symptoms that tell you menopause is knocking on your door. The only difference for you is that you won't know precisely when you transition from peri- to post-menopause. But that's okay because you don't have a uterus. Don't worry! If you watch the videos and/or read my book, I'll make it really easy for you.

      I can help you lot, my dear. But YOUR menopause is a journey. And since no two menopause journeys are the same, you need to tailor everything specifically to YOU.
      This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. You definitely need one. I cannot tailor things specifically to you in a comment box. It requires much more information than you can give me here, and you deserve much more information than I can give you here. No two women are alike, and addressing your situation requires tailoring all the facts specifically to YOU. I do them all via online video conferencing. You can schedule at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I look forward to meeting you and helping you.

    Due to the hush hush nature of menopause, when I was younger, I mistakenly thought it would be like an on and off switch.
    So going through the peri menopausal stage confused me and I kept wondering when it would just be over with already.
    Further confusing matters is the variables involved with the onset and the duration of the change.
    As for puberty, I began at 9, with further changes until I was about 18 or 19, so 10 years.
    Peri menopause was over 5 years, perhaps longer, when factoring in the less obvious signs.

      If you’d like a more efficient delivery of this menopause education, you should do one of the following:
      • Read my book
      • Watch the webinars in order
      • Watch the DVD entitled Your Menopause Your Way
      They all give you the complete education without the fluff of the videos. You can get any of these from my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME.
      And if you want the fastest track, schedule a consultation with me, and you'll get the education along with tailoring of it specifically to YOU. You can schedule a consultation at MenopauseTaylor.ME.
      These videos cover only one piece of information in each video. That’s intentional. If you only use these videos to get your education, it will be very complete, but it will take a looooooong time. My goal is to meet the needs of all women, regardless of their learning style, and regardless of their command of the English language. Many of my viewers speak English as a second, third, or fourth language. You may not care about them, but I do.
      I am the only person providing a complete and unbiased education on menopause. So, I’m trying to serve the needs of all women. I’m sorry I haven’t served yours well. But I think one of the other options listed above will.

      You'll go by your symptoms. Its ends to me like you're already peri-menopausal.
      You can start your menopause management any time, the sooner the better. You needn't be miserable or entire the symptoms. Go to your gynecologist., Describe your symptoms. Ask for options.
      Please, please, watch these videos. Since you need this information sooner than you'll get it in the videos, you might want to (1) Attend my two-day seminar on February 10 & 11, or (2) Buy the seminar on DVD from my website (MenopauseTaylor.ME), or (3) Buy my book from my website. The goal is for you to get this education NOW, while you can make such a difference in your entire future.

    I was in peri menopause at 47, and then post menopause by 50. IT was the worst time of my life because at the same time my symptoms were very confusing because I also had MS, and didn't know it yet! I didn't get diagnosed with MS until age 53.
    A lot of my MS symptoms got mixed up with my menopause symptoms.
    Unfortunately because of my age my Drs. just thought it was all menopause, and a little low blood sugar.
    So for the last 4 years its been a huge job finding a good MS specialist, and getting my MS under control, and in remission so I could get my life back. Im now 57, and hope to get my post menopause hormones under control, and that part of my life good again.
    Thank you for all the information, and awesome videos!
    Sandy

      Oh Sandy, I'm sorry you had that confusion. Your story is not uncommon. Now that you have the two diagnoses separated, I hope you can address them individually. You can certainly get them both under control. Don't give up.

    I am so happy to have found your videos Dr. Taylor! Thank you so much! I have been struggling with menopausal symptoms for the last 5 years, but because I still have periods, doctors ignore my complaints. Migraines and insomnias are the worst, stopping me frequently from having a functional life. After watching your videos, I have booked an appointment with a gynecologist to try bio- identical hormones... not sure if she will prescribe them, but I am hoping she will at least prescribe a blood test to check hormone levels. Could I take hormones during peri menopause? Doctors always say no HRT before menopause, but I know my mother started HRT before menopause and had a smoother transition than me. Many thanks!!!

    im having headaches, joint pain, mood swings, anxiety attacks, heart flutters, pelvic pain, knee pain, hot flashes, insomnia, and dropping things. also brain fog, and sudden panic attacks.
    until i researched it all, i thought i was going crazy or had some terrible illness. but after going to the hospital they told me everything was normal. thats when i found out it was all perimenopause symptoms.
    i missed my first period last year, and the symptoms started a few years before that when i was in my early forties.
    Im totally nuts lately, and cant imagine what the next few years is going to be like until it finally ends.more woman should talk about this, and more research should be done.
    hormones are not the answer. their is too many risks and side effects. its nature, nothing to do but get through it. i'll never take hormones. a few beers helps me. and marijuana can relax the nerves if its legal where you live.
    I also find that what i eat makes a difference. when i eat too much salt or processed foods, i find the symptoms get worse. when i eat healthier i feel healthier.
    STAY AWAY from hormones, its unnatural for woman to put that into their bodies. its made from horse urine(pregnant mares). and perimenopause last for 8-10 years peeps! thats a long time! noone ever told us that.

But I would love to help you get the information you need to make decisions based on facts and your preferences rather than on fear and misconceptions.

    Hi! Thank you for being here for women everywhere! I found you because of Angie from Hot and Flashy. What are the episode numbers for the beginning of this series/for questions 1&2? I’m nearing my 50th birthday and am very definitely peri menopausal. I have been since 47. My question is do we wait until post menopause to start HRT? I ask bc there are times when my hot flashes/night sweats, and saddest of all low libido are killing my quality of life. I also have some joint/feet aches and gain weight in the 2+ years, whereas before weight was never a problem. My ObGyn is younger than me and seems a bit insensitive to my stage at times. Her only option is low dose bc pills and I haven’t wanted to bite on that. Help!

      In a way, you have been the victim of lies ... but lying by omission.
      Menopause is THE most neglected topic on Earth ... even though 1/2 of the world's population spends 1/2 of their lives in the state of menopause. I am the first and the only person to ever deliver a true education on menopause to women in a language they can understand and use.
      Please consider scheduling a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I'll tailor all the facts specifically to YOU, and help you assess all your options.

      It's not a likely or common symptom of peri- or post-menopause. It is something for which you should have an evaluation by your internal medicine doctor.

      Misty,
      Welcome aboard to "Menopause Taylor University." You'll find that if you start at the very first video (going by the number after each title), you'll understand absolutely everything.
I do them all online.

      Your question reveals a lack of understanding of the most basic things about peri-menopause and post-menopause. I can help you with everything in a consultation: the teaching and the tailoring.
I am working through your videos from beginning to end and just love them. I appreciate you and your gentle kind nature! This video talked about how to identify when you've reached Peri and Post menopause. My problem is I has a Hysterectomy 5 years ago so I have no idea when my periods stopped or went bonkers. You will probably address that in a future video. Just left question 3 on the worksheet blank until later.

    You must realize by now that you are an angel sent from heaven. You hit the nail on the head, all of the information out there is so biased. I have been post menopausal for 7 long hot-flashy, emotional years. I have gone a la natural the whole time waiting for this to end. I am sad to learn from your video that this will never end but glad to know I will have true unbiased honest options now. Sitting on the edge of my seat for your next video. By the way, I have 3 sisters, we all have daughters, they will all get this link and hopefully will fell as lucky as I do discovering your channel. It's about time that the mothers are given the tools to educate their daughters on menopause so they won't have to go through so much uncertainty and stress.
